The magic of the postage stamp in evidence again today. 100 yards, Finau is only inches away from a hole in one yet barely scrambles to make a bogey. Bit harsh perhaps but still a great, great hole.

Much better than the 300 yrd holes.

Totally. I'd say if you were to name the top 10 par 3s in golf no more than a couple would be more than 150-160 yards in distance.

Off the top of my head anyway

    17th sawgrass
    12th Augusta
    7th pebble beach
    12th whistling straights

Recall poor Ian Poulter throwing a wobbly on the 7th at PB the year mcDowell won there. Savage golf hole. Also have the 15th at Castle Stuart in there, the 16th at Augusta and the 15th at Portmarnock...little bit longer that one but truly magnificent golf hole.

Anyone else missing BBC's Open coverage this week and finding it doesn't feel the same now that it's on Sky? It's hard to warm to Sky. They are far too overly positive. Everyone is awesome or unbelievable.

Nope - Sky's coverage throughout the tournament has been top notch and puts the BBC's coverage to shame. Miss ken on the course but not much else.

When you have so much airtime to fill you desperately need a Peter Alliss who can fill it with such effortless ease. Explaining how Beef got his name every 20 minutes is only going to go so far!

I'm particulary furious with them today cos they spent the front 9 telling us what a great putter Soren Kjeldsen is even as he repeatedly kept missing from a few feet.

No. Sky coverage and production has been excellent irregardless of the breaks. People might think it's over the top but at least they made an effort unlike the BBC for the past 10 years.

To fill it with sh1t talk? No thanks.

Christ are we going to have to hear how Andrew Johnston is a character and his nickname is beef and the crowd love him and he's a character every 30 seconds all day tomorrow?

That's the problem when it's a two horse race for two full days. Nothing to talk about or to show that matters apart from the final two ball

Sky love a story and they have one with the beef

As the great man said of the worst of the weather yesterday, your post is "as cold as a mother in law's kiss".

Did you know that he's a character? I think he is anyway but I'm just waiting for confirmation over and over again all day tomorrow.

Why does the Open have sponsorship at the tee and none of the other 3 majors have any sponsorship?

I would have thought with it being the oldest and most traditional major it wouldn't have any sponsorship at all.

This is the best Saturday afternoon I've seen in a major in a long time.

Stenson has been rock really, superb all week even allowing for the good fortune with the weather. Really believe it's his time now.

Hopefully. I've always like him and he has a great game too.

Not in the slightest. Still the Open and the coverage is fine. Not even minding the ad breaks which are short and not interfering with the flow. Despise the music though - major key horns theme that sounds misplaced from a crummie jingoisitic blockbuster where Murica saves the world.

That guy Beef is some character though.

He's blown up a few times but seems to have the right temperament now. I recall when he was paired with McIlroy when the latter played his first Open and Stenson destroying one of the tee markers after a wild tee shot. There's a bit of a pattern of guys hitting 40 and winning a major so just think it might be his turn.

    Yeh, go Phillie Mick.
Hope he can do the biz - another major is no more than his career deserves.

Stenson for me. There's a career merits a major.

Sorry he is just too slow for me.

I place decent pace of play over a career meriting major.

Stenson -6 on the back nine this week. That's some going in fairness. Phil is -3.

Agreed but he's not in the Na Bradley bracket. I just think he's a funny guy. Plus dare I say I have him done...

Stenson held it together pretty well today but would be surprised if he does the same tomorrow. Mick to join Trevino and Faldo on six majors.

Thats just naked pacism and should have no bearing on whether he deserves a major or not.
Lowest score wins. And deserves to win. Thems the rules of golf.

I'm liking Sky's coverage I have to say, you'd miss Ken on the course and I could easily sub him in for a number of the Sky Team, surprised they didn't take him like they did with Brumble in F1

The Beef though, what a character.
