Would ya stop, I'm a late 20s female playing it, my boyfriend is in his 30s and playing it and the few mates I have playing it are men early to mid thirties!

<raises hand> Forty-three. I guess that makes me the designated old man of the group. Any messing and I'll belt you one with my walking stick ;)

The Luas is great for hitting pokestops, went from James' to Jervis lastnight and if you're quick there's loads along the way you can hit.

Reached level 8 just now and got my first lure module, see what that brings me.

Decided to throw on the game on the way to work this morning, a few places I passed through had some Gyms (I now occupy one :P) and pokestops so grabbed a few bits. I had to laugh at some of the weird locations for pokestops that were in the middle of nowhere really on country roads.

It also goes slow enough in many parts for the app to think your walking so it registers steps towards your eggs. I caught about 6-7 yesterday morning on the way to work, the servers were on their way down again though in the evening so didnt get too many on the way home

Guys, how do I get an egg? Is it 10k steps?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,204 ✭✭✭elfy4eva

Does the app still alert you and count steps when open in the background? Or does it have to be open, would ideally like to walk around with it in my pocket and be alerted only when a pokemon appears near me

This is what they tried to market the Pokemon Go Plus for, either shell out €45 for one or keep the phone in your hand

Has to be open sadly to find pokemon / track steps sadly

You can get them at pokestops and they're either 2km, 5km or 10km.

I had the same problem with a Squirtle :( had it caught and everything but before it registered, it frozen and servers dropped.
I've had that several times but sometimes the Pokemon is actually caught and you'll see that in your journal.

Finally caved and downloaded it. I live and work in the city centre and am completely surrounded by poke stops, there's one beside my house and my desk! Definitely found it's a lot more reliable server wise in the morning/afternoon than evening though, haven't crashed at all today. Also it seems to run much much better on my iPhone 6s than my boyfriends 5s... Might need to invest in a better phone for him :o

Someone in work posted a suggestion to save some offline maps of where you regularly go to the Google Maps app, this reduces the load on the app as its not needing to update the maps itself so often and takes them from there

    It doesn't work really.

It's not the maps that's the problem, it's the overloaded servers.

was about to catch clefairy only for servers to go down, am so close lvl 5 and there is a gym down the road at the church... be going to mass more often...

I caught Clefairy!! I couldnt let it go, went out walking when got in from work, and then started a light drizzle and thought ill head for home... And then it appeared!! It jumped me walking through the park, rain falling bit now, phone getting wet, the decision to run and stay dry or get this Clefairy, I choose to stay and fight spurred on by the two ' ?? ' s above her head  :D After a grueling couple of minutes in the rain, swiping furiously to get the throw just right, i caught her!

Happy Days, Clefairy cp 144 :D

Does anyone know what causes this? I've had a couple of pokemon with the question marks and they're always really hard to catch. Are they outside of my "catch range" or something?

I caught one this morning on the way to work too!

On the down side, I got a lucky egg for reaching level 9 and accidentally used it in a dead area :(

I believe it's a case of as you level up, your ability to attract and catch more powerful wild pokemon goes up. I def noticed a difference once I got past level 5, I've caught a few 200+ since I reached level 9 now. When you see ??, I think it's supposed to indicate that it's a pokemon more powerful than your level is expected to pick up.

Can you incubate multiple eggs at once? I noticed you can buy incubators in the shop

That's the only way so far. you get one "unlimited" incubator and then you can spring for ones that have 3 uses in them.

I've also gotten an incubator from a pokestops but it seems to be very rare

That just means you dont know what CP power they are until you catch them :)

It means they are a CP higher than anything you currently have.

Thats not entirely true unless its bugged at the moment. I have a spearow at 114 yesterday and one popped up on my screen with the 2 question marks. When I caught him it was only a 25cp one.
