I know they're not necessarily related but PC and mobile preview builds basically hit final state today, so I'd imagine Xbox is very close too

Cortana still needs a lot of work. Also they should ditch the Hey Cortana and use Xbox.

My USB doesn't work anymore since the update.

    Anybody else have this too?.
I'm sure I wasn't the only one plugging in a pocket USB with movies on it to stream?.

Stopped working with the update anyway, USB is fine but says "No Devices Found"...

    That's a negative.

That said, the natural language usage for Cortana is much easier to use ... Instead of "Xbox, Off .... XBOX... XBOX? OFF?", its much nicer to use "Hey Cortana, turn off the Xbox" or a bunch of different varieties. I've found it works about 90-95% of the time.

The Xbox commands are so responsive now, it's very rare I have to repeat a command. They've improved it so much.

Most of the time it googles what I say to it rather than doing the actual command.

Same, wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so slow loading the right panel so you can unsnap and start again.

I noticed yesterday when I was in the Store on the Xbox that I could filter the games by New, Free, Coming Soon, Add-Ons etc.
I like this, I normally have to look online on Store Parser or something like that to see what DLC is available for free but now I can just do it from the store.

Tried to snap something yesterday. After a couple of seconds, the result I got from Cortana was " Snap are a 90's German techo band, whose biggest hit was Rhythm Is A Dancer ".

I wish it wasn't an either/or situation, and you could continue using the older "Xbox..." commands while still being able to use Cortana too. Really its the speed of things like "Xbox Pause" that I miss, but I really like having Cortana available.

It's down to how they work and process the commands I think. Cortana is dependent on going back to MS servers to process them hence the lag, where as the kinect does the work for the Xbox ones.

You're right it shouldn't be an either or , the thinking is likely they don't want to confuse people with 2 sets of commands when in reality it would work better with Xbox pause, play go to youtube and then hey cortana whats the weather like or send a text to etc

We're eligible for Eir Fibre but since it's not my house it isn't my place to pick and choose, unfortunately. Mammy likes her Sky so we're stuck with Sky broadband's glorious 10mg connection - it's so amazing

I've had 10 meg for a good few years now so I'm kind of used to it.

Once I'm out of the house I'm aiming for Waterford City and fibre broadband.

    ..... I think I over-explained myself :P

Sorry for derailing the thread :o

Don't Sky use Eir's lines for the internet? If so, you could stick with Sky but upgrade to 100mb fibre which is the same price for the first year than €10 more per month after that.

Yeah, sorry to everyone else for going off topic :p

Regardless of provider serious spanners will be thrown in the works if you have a monitored alarm in the house. We had to opt out of a massive boost in bandwidth on vodafone even though it was Virgin Media who put the cables in on our road due to our monitoring crowd looking for more a year to move us over to GSM monitoring and the change was a 3 digit a year increase so we opted out of the upgrade until we can get a more reasonable rate and service for4m alarm crowd.

Yikes, it would be cheaper (& funner) to have a couple of trained rottweilers in the house with the addes bonus of high bandwidth :D

It's all minor bug fixes right now, so you're unlikely to see any real changes.

At a guess, this pace of releases is probably going to continue right up to the start of august, so if you're worried about your download limit, perhaps leaving this preview would be best. If course, I think that there's a large download to leave too, so.....

I believe updates are cumulative - so if you miss a few updates, one of the later ones will still include all the fixes from those. This means you could choose to skip some of the updates, however you'd probably be unable to connect to XBL in that case.
