Their current game market would include the Virtual Console, a lot of these repro games would be available through this platform. I can see how Nintendo could directly lose money when somebody buys a repro over a digital download. This is a book celebrating the nes/famicom, I do understand how copyright works, something similar happened with the sfc book. Nintendo are just being knobs, they're chasing the wrong people. I hope that guy sorts out the problems and gets this finished. I'm hoping the book will be great when it finally makes it out.

Its easy to shutdown something in a legal jurisdiction that has copyright laws... China not so much..

Well whenever i sell or buy a somewhat expensive game I get or give pictures of the pcbs, repros are just so common now.

How do you even test a CD? I've seen some perfect repro discs floating around eBay

A few of them would cost the same as an everdrive, why would you bother.

I don't blame you asking for pictures, the price of some games necessitates it. I remember the first repro Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire I saw on eBay. Even back then it looked very convincing. There's a bit about it here.

I'm not sure if the number on the inner ring of the cd could be used in checking other games, it's just an idea, it may or not be the case.

I had this in mind buying Snatcher CD there last year. I asked the seller for a good few pics various angles of the cd, the manufacturing codes on the inner ring, detailed close ups of the artwork, etc etc. I had to cross reference everything with known legit versions...and not everything is easy to find. Bloody minefield out there.

Are you suggesting that my copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga, on three Tesco brand CD-Rs, is not the real deal?
He promised me it was a genuine copy!!!
Oh, wait, he did place emphasis on the word copy.... even italicized it... just like that... bugger...
I think he looked like this as he was about to turn away with my money :(

Ds lite with 2 games 80 euros.

Wii with 6 games 110 euros.

Vita with a game 160 euros can get a new one for that price ha ha

I think there are people who genuinely have no idea what things are worth.
They bought these things for their kids, said kids get bored and so the items are sold.
They tot up the prices, thinking of what their local Gamestop charges and ask for the same, reckoning "why not?".
They are totally unaware of the real world price these things fetch, and the lack of response usually leads to edited advertisements and revising prices downwards.
I don't think they are really taking the p1ss though, they are just ignorant.

Now, there are those who have a massively inflated notion of their goods' worth, and we saw it recently with the Vectrex for €700, since revised south to closer to €500, still too much.
This seller thinks their goods are instantly worth a packet because it is old, and so retro and so fodder for the hipsters out there that are just too cool to play Uncharted 4 and would rather something rarer than the average bear next to their ancient Pye TV set.

the clickbait articles like "your old video games could be worth thousands" don't help.

Is CD based reproing a thing yet?

Might sound a bit mad given how prevalent CD-Rs are in this hobby, but actual imitations of real discs?

You can disguise tsop adapters and the likes in repro carts easily due to them being encased in a shell, but discs would be far more difficult. It's not something I really ever thought of considering to be a threat in the hobby? Have me worried now

Fakes of Snatcher CD have been known to circulate, and a pc engine cd game which the name escapes me, was in the news a while back for being repro'd. It's not common thankfully, but for the the big value games, I wouldn't buy without double checking.

They're usually quick to upload them to Youtube or you can watch past broadcasts on Twitch too, it's not so bad but it is nice to catch stuff live. Sometimes I leave it on in the background so it doesn't matter if it's live or not like Kingdom Hearts, not really interested in the game but they do singing and stuff, it's great fun.

The quality of the video capture for the NES on atm in Games Done Quick is insanely good.

I wonder if they're using modded consoles and which capture device they're using.

No luck on the FAQ it says " The three best ways to seek GDQ help is via the contact page, the Speed Demos Archive forum dedicated to Games Done Quick, and Twitter via @GamesDoneQuick. "

    So lovely.
I think I'll fire up both Saturn and PS2 port in honour of the marvellous game.

The N64 had the paradigm shift of Super Mario 64

The Saturn had the amazing Nights into Dreams

The PS had.... Spyro, poor b@stards...

I'm way too lazy to get the Saturn down as much as I'd love to, so I'm listening to the ost, feel like a kid again, day 3D controller was the best.
When I'm back think I'll set up my Dream cast, I've a longing for ages to play JSR
