It was found at approximately 7:45PM.
    From here:

Why was the bag left back?
    1. Cooke taunting police theory
    2. Unknown pedophile/ abductor taunting police theory
    3. Fear of imminent discovery theory: implication that it was being kept locally.
    4. Panic by abductor provoked by what? Implication that it was being kept locally.
    5. ?

The Cooke theory has a lot of support at the moment with claims being made against him. I'm curious at to what door to door enquiries were made at the time and if records were kept. Maybe the Cooke thing will work out and searches will bring a conclusion. But a niggling tragic story.

As much as I'm happy that the Philip Cairns case is back in the news I've been wondering if the Indo is helpfully taking the spotlight off the Mary Boyle case which has also been aired recently.

Why on earth would they want to do that?

Time to pay Fr Tony "Elvis "Walsh a visit for a round of questions ?(and a few thumps if Lugs was still around )

I am fully aware of the sycophantic deference paid to the Catholic Church at the time - having suffered through that myself.
I can see how this might cause (and did cause) paedophile priests to get away with sexual abuse - but I don't understand your point in relation to this case?

    See above.

Legion of Mary, Legion of Christ call it what one likes but the sinister deviant activities of some in these orders were reprehensible and those like (Fr) Tony Walsh have not fully paid for their crimes and probably never will

    This guy was another beaut

    See above.

Very good point - yes it is entirely possible there is some involvement by that shower of bastards - especially given Philip was a devout Catholic and therefore would have trusted any priest.

A container underground near a radio transmitter?

Do they know where it is?

Cooke was using a site near Saggart during the 1990's

In the 1980's sites in Tallaght and Three Rock Mountain were used

I think the container is in Crooksling

    http://evoke.ie/news/irish-news/bunker-holds-the-key-to-philip-cairns-disappearance
But although Cooke confessed that Philip had been in both his car and his pirate radio station, Radio Dublin, he took his secrets to the grave. His second wife revealed that the DJ buried a lorry container 20 feet underground in rural Tallaght, and believes it may hold the key to finally solving Philip’s disappearance.

She said: ‘In the 1990s, when he was selling some of the properties, the taxman was after him, and he bought a container and buried it 20 feet underground on land he’d bought out in Crooksling [in Tallaght]. He then moved a huge amount of his personal possessions from a house he was selling into that container.’

He may have buried a few. I doubt that would be the same container in the 90's.
If he was responsible for Philips death, would he have held on his body that long?

He's since sold land so I doubt he would have left stuff inside any containers he had if he sold it on.

Doubt it. The above news report seems to be full of b****x in fairness!

most of the news reports around the case seem to be full of that stuff to be fair.

I was more focused on the Crooksling thing.

Saying that, there's also every possibility that the man was so twisted, he held on to things, and moved them with him.

Think I've said this before, but if this turns out to be another wild goose chase re Philip, I hope at least it uncovers many other things/people involved in paedophile rings etc.

Yeah, the whole 'confessing' that he was in his car and studio isn't true, as you know.

I've heard crooksling bandied about alright, I just don't get why would he bury a body along with his other possessions, in a container on his own land. Completely incriminating, I don't think anything will come of the container search if and when it goes ahead.

I hadn't noticed the post count.

I'm wondering who deleted it, the poster themselves or boards.

This is the posters profile...http://touch.boards.ie/user/808413 says no posts. Would of thought a mod would have posted a warning if they had to get involve and remove a post, seems like the poster removed it themselves.

I saw that. What was the significance of it? All I saw (although it was just a fleeting glance) was a reference to another poster (whom I was not familiar with) who had been banned, and saying they shouldn't have been banned.
