My tuppence worth on some of the providers as I am looking into changing providers.

UTV - had them for a year , BB was just Ok , the rest of their service has been well-documented.

Smart, IBB,Digiweb Metro etc. - Not the best national coverage, Fine if you live in places like Dublin, Cork,Galway,Limerick and possibly Waterford, otherwise we're into "triggers" territory.

ESAT-BT - pretty awful site with downloadable form in pdf format. No prices anywhere that I can see. "From €15" is hardly a price.
They would not tempt me at all. They also still prominently promote dialup for business, understandable in some cases but hardly a good advert for a "forward-looking" company like BT.

Sent IBB a mail enquiry about coverage;10 people read it without bothering to reply and 3 deleted it without even bothering to read it. Enough said.

Netsource www.netsource.ie - Business only and DSL is fine. I have been with them almost 6 months. However their basic offerings are really not keeping pace with the rest of the providers, so likely to change providers. Standard offering is 1MB/128K versus 2MB/128K for most other DSL providers. Support is polite and helpful. They do call you back.

Digiweb DSL has some good pricing but yet again may not benefit people outside of the larger population centres.

Much as I hate to say it Eircom seems to have the "best" national BB coverage. Or should I say they are the most likely to be able to deliver BB outside the larger population centres. So much for competition. :(

Anyone know whether any company will supply broadband to the north-west wicklow region?

Depending on where you mean by North West Wicklow, I am thinking Blessington or close?

Try http://www.torque.ie I think they have all of West Wicklow covered now except for a couple of isolated pockets around Dunlavin.

They are a great new company and I personally can't say enough about them.

    :D

I just got Broadband from Cinergi Telecom for 9.99 for 20hrs( I will be changing to thier unlimited package for 15.99) I think this is the cheapest availible and the quality is top notch. I had NTL before but had lots of problems. was getting less than 1MB on what should have been 3MB, now I get 1.5MB on what is advertised as 1MB. Its a no brainer for me

Kilmacthomas, Waterford - Broadband availability within the next few weeks. Mast is going up by the old Union.

I must be dreaming. Smart Telecom and Eircom are going to offer DSL and wireless to the village (this place is practically in stickland) between Waterford and Dungarvan.

Even if it only worked at 512K-1Mb... it still would be science fiction to my ISDN connection. Hope this is NOT a rumour otherwise I'll kill someone :)

I just gave Eircom a call about my nearest exchange, Passage East, and it'll be going live at the end of April. I'm a very happy camper at the moment. So long ISDN (I hope)!
