    Hello,

Just curious: what brand of golf clubs do you use and why?

I know people use the clubs they feel confortable with.

I use Howson Woods and Calloway Irons! Reasons: both are comfortable to use and they have enhanced the distance I hit the ball!

they looked really nice, i just couldn't get over my stupid brain, once i saw VJ throw away the honda last year i ruled them out, not fair on the putter it was VJ 's fault but it goes to sho whow superstitious we can get about such a scientifically grounded game(R&D wise)

Great thread lads, very interesting... My bag is a bit mix and match - Recently got my first GUI of 14 but reckon I'm more lke 18... Anyway, here goes -

Driver: Ping G5 (tested one in the range and could not physically bring myself to even touch my old driver [old model McGregor that I hit just fine!] so I splashed out)... Stiff shaft, 10.5 degree. It goes farrrrrrrrrrr

3Wood: Don't carry one, it went in the trade-in for the G5!

Rescue Club: No kiddin, but I bought my rescue in LIDL! And I love the thing. Use it on tight drives and from the fairway and alot around the green - the best €20 anyone ever spent!

4-SW: Colt graphite shafts I got for a gargain €125 a few years ago. They're not bad but thinkin of switching back to steel shafts soon.

LW: Love this club, it cost me the princely sum of €12 in the Golf Factory in Cherry Orchard and has been a huge boost to my short game (I was a 23 when I bought it so that has been a huge help)

Putter: Ping, blade type. Like it alot but my lag putting is killing me (any advice welcome!). Had been using a mallet-style for a while before that which cured some insufferable putting woes but it was time to go back to the blade and I'm glad I did!

Bag: I can't remember! Bought it the same day I got my irons! Ah wait - its a plain black Top Flight!

Wet Gear: Kartel pants & jacket I won in a society event - was gonna trade em in but glad I kept em. Quality stuff!

Ball: Having used the Pro V quite a bit I have to say I can't justify spending that sorta bread on it. The best ball for performance and value - in my opinion - is the Nike distance ball. Comes in hard and soft version and is usually €20 a dozen - an excellent ball I think.

Trolley: Just bought me an electric trolley on ebay for a knock-down price. Hopefully it arrives and does the job though! Looking forward to that - I reckon an elec trolley saves ya 3 shots a game - what do you guys think?

Everyone who owns one says this but I couldn't give up carrying the bag. Mabey when i'm old and knackered :p

Jaysus, i never realised how much i change my clubs until i looked at it here. Not one club i had last september is still in my bag

Driver: R5 Tour TP 9.5* with Grafalloy Comp NT
    3 Wood: Taylormade V-Steel 15* with Aldila NV-85 75 S
Rescue: Taylormade Rescue Mid TP 16* with Aldila NV-105 S
Irons: 3-PW Taylormade RAC CB with S300's
    GW: Clevelamd 588 Gunmetal 53*
    LW: Taylormade RAC Y-Cutter 60*
    Putter: MD Golf "Stardust" <
Check this putter out, cost me €60 brand new and its better than the 2 Scottys I've owned.

Cost of current setup - about €1200 (the driver head cost €400  )

I'll soon have to change my own listing as well to add in your old 3Wood DMan! :)

Good God Man, for the life of me I'll never understand why anyone would want to carry their bag!! A lad said to me once that he found it easier because he didn't have to walk as far as you would when setting down a trolley etc and wheeling it around greens... I said "Son, I'm gonna tell you the same thing I told Tiger Woods when I edged him out 2&1 in our local Matchplay competition - 'Quit your yappin Kid and tee it up!' " ........... Part of that story is made up - not telling which part!

Was sick of buying waterproofs and them either leaking, ripping at the back heel or being too heavy in the summer and too light in the winter.....

Problem solved! Took myself into TK Maxx and bought a pair of snowboarding pants. Are fully lined so you dont need to wear owt under them, have a double layer of material on the heel and are 100% waterproof but still breathable. Also have a snow lair on the leg so as when your in the long grass 'which I am often' your socks dont get wet.....

Ps they cost 40 notes and look the biz........

how do you manage if you get caught in a rain shower?
do they take up a lot of room in you bag?

i think decent working wet gear that doesn't cost a fortune is like a holy grail to irish golfers.
not exactly on topic but i picked up a powakaddy freeway and the bag, the bags fantastic loads of room for all your stuff.

How much J.R.? What's the battery life like? Would it cover 36 holes without a recharge?

Anybody else playing with Mizuno Irons.... have had some mixed advice regards buying new Mizuno Irons & have had my eye on the Mx 900 range but am getting a split in opinions. Playing off 21 at present but would be up and down like a Hollywood stars weight during the season. Peaking at 18 most years but cant get this much further.

Have the Mx500 driver with a stiff shaft and am hitting it well, not a fan of graphite shafts and tend to opt for the stiff option due to swing speed.

Also playing with Mizuno 5 and 7 wood so would prefer to keep them all the one make......

Have seen them out at McGuirks,Leopardstown for 650 euro, 200 euro less than American Golf.
