Nice, love clubs with a story.

My mate has a wedge that Gary Player gave his old fella after playing Wentworth with him & he actually uses it!

I really, really like the look of this. Played with a guy using a set of them and they just sat so nice. It was a comp so I couldn't try it but really liked it.

My G10 is fantastic but I also really liked the Nike SQ and tried it the other day, side by side with my own and immediately decided to stick with my G10.

It's a fantastic club. Wouldn't swap it for anything. Picked it up brand new for €50. Was looking for a Wilson FwC 3-Wood but couldn't find one. Then this was shown to me and I bought it without trying it out. For €50 i couldn't go wrong.

Had a quick look up of Epon clubs and the irons sure do look nice... which model?

AF 701. Have to say they're the nicest irons I've ever had. Really forgiving, hitting about 10-15 yds further than previous irons and very accurate. Have had 4 2's in my last 3 rounds 2 of which were nearly hole in 1's, literally 3 inches from the pin.
Got them custom fitted in Celbridge Driving Range

    hi emily

im assuming your a woman playing with womans clubs ???

    What gave it away???????

Emilyj, great choice with the Epon heads. Hope they keep working for you. They'll definitely be on my shortlist next time round, along with some of the other japanese forgings, they just look fantastic....couldn't justify the expense this year tho.
have to say i was very impressed talking to the guys in the golf studio in celbridge recently. They seem to be stocking all sorts of heads and shafts not generally available in ireland.
If I can be a bit rude, how expensive were the wedges?

Same price as the irons, €150 each

Those Epon AF's aren't specifically women's clubs though are they?

...and that's the main reason i don't have them or something similar...yet!

I'm guessing the shimado shafts are some kind of lightweight steel shaft? Did you try them against the other options (presumably nippon and a couple of others) and what made you choose them in particular?

No they're not womens clubs, I play off a low handicap and find that these suit me better, having tried other options

Yes I think they're fairly lightweight, tried various options when getting custom fitted and these shafts suited best & didn't cost anymore

Yeah, in fairness I don't know any half-decent female golfer who plays with women's clubs (myself included).

As a matter of interest girls, when someone of your standard goes to play a championship course (say mount juliet in a social fourball), what tees do ye play from? I've seen lady pros play my home course from the white markers...

    2 Iron: Titleist 695 CB X-100
    3-PW: Titleist 695 MB X-100
Wedges: Titleist Vokey Oil Can 50, 55, 60.
    Putter: Ping Anser

All my clubs are tour lofted and one degree flat. My 2 iron was 19degrees but turned it into 15. Have to swinging well to get anything out of it.
I also have a Titleist 904 15 3 wood but I don't use it that often, I prefer the 2-iron especially for windy Ireland

Good Luck with the new clubs!

    Thanks Ian,

Yeah felt I was lacking distance between my driver and my rescue, no excuses now
Had 2 rescue's one which I had started to not use as the other one fitted the distance so made sense to go back to 3 wood.

    I'm never happy

Here's the stuff i've decided is going to improve my game (for now)

    Cleveland Hibore Irons 4-PW

Titleist Vokey wedges 52 56 60 (will probably never touch the 60 but they just look so nice) :)

    Odyssey 2-ball putter

Hippo Hex 3 wood and driver (square things)

My girlfriend says I'm not allowed to buy any more stuff now. I'm on my 3rd set of irons, 2nd 3 wood, 3rd driver, 2nd putter and 2nd set of wedges since i started playing 3.5 years ago.

Saying that, i might still get another driver cause I ordered the Hippo with like 12 degree loft by mistake... so i might not hit it as far as everyone, but i sure as hell hit it higher :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20 HarringtonVbest

hey how do you find their drivers ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 108 ✭✭BunkerMentality

Except for the fact that I bought one with a really high loft i really like it... it's dead easy to hit. I don't get much roll on my drives though since I hit it so high

Well finally gave in to the stats on the launch monitor and the D3 found a new home. Gone back up to a 10.5 and a mid/high launch Matrix OZIK XCON 5.5 shaft. Can't believe the difference.
