well eq that can adjust specific frequencies is what i'm talkin bout

Yeah, I find a 7 band EQ much more useful than a 3 band, or 4 band on the Metal Zone, but I think it'd only make things more confusing in the Metal Zone's case.

doesn't make it confusing i don't think just set the metal zone and dial in your freq on the ge and away u go easy peasy

Good old Big Muff does the job for me, although i'm gonna get another pedal for a crunch kinda distortion rather than the fuzz.

I dont use distortion pedals, I just use my TSL and usually have a Ge-7 and a marshall ed-1 compressor on nearly all the time for that better tone and to drive the amp more at lower volumes.... :)

heres a clip of my tone...... i made it ages ago, but meh its good enough, it was recorded one of those old pc mics

Try the original RAT, or maybe a good Overdrive.

I'm gonna be using a tube screamer as soon as I upgrade my computer and then move on to my rig.

They have a TS-7 down in Pro Musica in cork for only 75 euros... you see, it's a TS-7, and a lot of people who don't know better think there's no way it's as good as the original 70s Tube Screamer, but it's actually better than some of the more expensive ones...

Me, I have a modded Nobels Overdrive. ****ing insane now.

I'd love to try a tubescreamer, and I was looking at the Mesa Boogie V-1 Bottle Rocket and V-Twin pedals on ebay. Wouldn't mind nabbing one of those babies seeing as they're out of production now.

Gear doesn't go obselete, therefore it's best to get gear before computer, you'll end up with a slightly better computer then :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,693 ✭✭✭david

Yeah... Im saving for a little van for the gear... A nice Volkswagen methinks.. My sisters boyfriend wrote his off so i might get it off him and fix it up... Mostly body work. The insurance will probably cost me more than the van itself though. What you driving?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

so fey distortion whats your take on all of this

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Tachy? No idea, never heard of it.

As for distortion, MXR pedals are really bloody good. I'd use the amp distortion if it was good. My Fender has dreadful amp distortion but the Peavey Bandit distortion absolutely rocks!
