    According to IMDB (http://imdb.com/title/tt0411008/guests):

    * The first episode of Season 2 will air 23rd September.

    * It will be called "Genesis: Part 1"

    * And will feature none other than the coolest actor in Showbiz, Samuel L Jackson as a guest star!
    IMDB.com wrote:
    "Genesis: Part 1" Episode: #2.1 - 23 September 2005
    Samuel L. Jackson .... Bernard
Sam Jackson... in Lost?! SWEET!! CANNOT WAIT!!

PS - still can be classed as unconfirmed but a hell of a way to start the season!

EDIT: Also, these are the UNCONFIRMED titles and airdates for the first 5 episodes of Season 2:

    * Genesis, Part One
    - Sept. 23, 2005

    * Genesis, Part Two
    - Sept. 30, 2005

    * When the Dust Settles
    - Oct. 07, 2005

    * Old Habits
    - Oct. 14, 2005

    * Pandemonium
    - Oct. 21, 2005

Note: These airdates do indicate 'Lost' will be shown Friday nights.. and as far as i know, ABC has confirmed it's staying in it's Wednesday night slot so best leave this as rumour for now.

I'm only on episode 12 so I wondering as to how a new character would be introduced. But don't tell me!

Haha, if that's true that's gonna be excellent...

Chris Griffin: "Is Samuel L Jackson in this? He's in everything"

Well it could be just a flashback which is the most likely if he's just going to be a guest star... that wouldn't really be ruining anything for you :)

lol,yes he is in everything! :D

Sorry for being a bit of an Irish n00b to Lost- do the flashbacks happen frequently? Like, every episode it will be a different charachters story?

    No problem - valid question!

Flashbacks are in every episode basically (as far as i can remember)!

We will revisit some main character's backstory in flashback form more than once!

So pay attention to them then? will do ;)

I think it's fake. User submitted on IMDB.

Possibly... but wouldn't dismiss it as fake just yet!

EDIT: Did a little research of my own and looked at Sam's Filmography on IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000168/):
    IMDB wrote:
    # "Lost" playing "Bernard" in episode: "Genesis: Part 1" (episode # 2.1) 23 September 2005
    # "Lost" playing "Bernard" in episode: "Exodus: Part 3" (episode # 1.25) 25 May 2005
Don't know about anyone else but i definantly didn't see him in the finale! Could have been on the background on the plane flashback at some point. But Damon / JJ didn't mention in interviews which you think they'd drop in.

Hmmmm.... fishy! Looks like you could be right, Giblet!

    YET ANOTHER EDIT: :D

    This is dialog from Walkabout:

Rose: "His fingers swell...Bernard, my husband."

Think we may be onto something here! ;)

I think it'd be an awful mistake to include a well-known actor in Lost, or go down the cameo road. Matthew Fox and Dominic Monaghan would be the best known of the main actors in the show now, and are at just the right level.

To bring in a very well-known actor would be very off-putting. It's fine in a comedy like Scrubs where the fun is in the cameo, but for a serious drama, you'd be hard-pressed not to be constantly thinking, "It's Samuel L Jackson, in Lost! Wow!"

Aside from the fact he'll not be able to be in it very much - wasting a potentially new character - I think he'd just pull the viewer out of the fictional world by reminding them of the real world of big-time Hollywood actors.

Only time I ever thought this was done well, and no distractingly in a drama series week to week was Whoopi Goldberg in ST:TNG, though this may be because her character was not at all like Goldberg the actress in appearance. (On the other hand, William Shatner in the seventh season of The Practice and then Boston Legal has a great role that he plays brilliant, though I constantly am reminded of who he was...)

So kinda hoping it's not true. While I don't trust IMDB.com user entries much - see the confusion over on the 24 thread for some glaring inaccuracies there -and while I'm doubtful about SLJ, my gut tells me the "Genesis" title for the season two premiere is actually correct.

Definitely staying put on Wednesday, but moving an hour ahead (9pm-10pm, Alias' old slot.) This will give them a bit more leeway with shots of wounded survivors, sexual content, language etc.

Friday night would never happen - that's a death slot on US TV! The number of series that have died there... Enterprise, S:A&B, Millennium, Dark Angel, Firefly...

Im presuming you mean Boston Legal in relation to Shatner...

and yes Imdb is not all that reliable until things are confirmed. For 24 the guy who plays Chase was credited on the site as being in the last 6 eps of 24 this season, but then a week later they were gone.I havnt seen the last 5 yet,but he wasnt in the 6th last episode.

More guest stars for 2X01 - "Genesis - Part One"...

    Glenn Cannon .... Priest Hendrix
    Sarah Clarke .... Asylum Patient
    Michelle Rodriguez .... Ana-Lucia
John Terry .... Dr. Christian Shephard
Return of Jack's father?... Am thinking a Jack centric episode then! And sees the return of Michelle Rodriguez (meh!) as Ana-Lucia.

Also, Sarah Clarke starred as Nina Myers in '24'... never really got into '24' so i have no idea who she is! :D (i'm sure some of ye will though.. we have a good few '24' fans on the 'Lost' forum)

I don't like The JAck episoded that much

I don't like The JAck episoded that much

His first two were quite good, but the last one (1x20) was atrocious, IMO.

With Ana-Lucia, it's hard to know if her scenes will be post-drinks on the flight, or if she turns up somewhere else ("We're the survivors...")

As for Sarah Clarke, seems odd an actress with such a profile would be given a role just as 'Asylum Patient'... I think the rumour about her is false, at least until her character gets a name!

... yeah, like i said these are all pretty much unconfirmed!

    SARAH CLARKE!?!?! NO FUPPIN WAY!

Deadly, DEADLY news for next season... pity they wouldn't really be able to introduce her as a regular character without some incredibly clever writing (hey, it's more than possible)

Yep... though Sam would confirm it on the site. He doesn't seem to mention it in upcoming projects anyways!

Am pretty sure all this Samuel L Jackson stuff is all bogus anyways!

Might get the DVD if it's available somewhere... ever since "getting tapes from cousins", i've been unable to actually set time to sit down and watch TV! :D

I can remember watching some of Season 1 and enjoying it though! Might give it a tape then if i remember. Would be better if they showed it every night for 24 days!

Me too. Am very much hoping it's not true anyway...

Know exactly what you mean. Only watching Big Brother on broadcast TV these days... CousinTV is easily the best of all the broadcasters. (Less obtrusive DOGs, no interrupting voiceovers during poignant scenes, no ridiculous editing... I could go on.)

As for 24, TVNutz is right - season 1 is easily the best. Based on the other series you like, I think you'd find this and series 2 very enjoyable. (Not so much maybe 3 and 4 - I thought both of those were pretty woeful.)
    basquille wrote:

BBC CHOICE once did that over 24 days, daily at 10.30pm. But if you get in on this, you probably won't be able to hack it week to week on BBC ONE!

Another 1 or 2 guest stars rumoured for the Season 2 opener from IMDB:
    IMDB wrote:

    Tina Wesson .... Alex Rousseau
    So, Alex might finally appear!

Note: Doubt that Alex credit is true!

Mainly because of her filmography on IMDB makes her out as a contestant on "Survivor: Australia".... seems a bit fishy!

    Tina Wesson

Looks a bit old to play Alex.

Has to be fake I think. Maybe the sarah clarke thing is true, possibly the Samuel L Jackson, the Alex thing ? Nah, fake.
Also, on that, michelle rodriguez is down as a guest character? wasn't it announced a while ago that she would be a PERMANENT fixture in S2?

Speaking of 24, Dennis Hopper fitted the bill of Hollywood megastar who's just cool enough not to warp the series by his inclusion in series one.

Yeah.. i've heard this mentioned by a couple of people. It does quite look like her!

But that does not mean that is Alex on the boat...

This could just be the result of some crazed fan spotting her as a cameo. Reading the backstory regarding Alex and putting two and two together! And then submitting it to IMDB.

Back on topic (for once.. :D):

Samuel L Jackson and Michelle Rodriguez have been taken off the Guest Appearances for the opener of Season 2. IMDB's current info on casting for Season 2:
    IMDB wrote:
    "Genesis: Part 1" Episode: #2.1 - 21 September 2005
    Andrea Gabriel .... Nadia
    Neil Hopkins .... Liam Pace
Skye McCole Bartusiak .... Young Kate
    Angus Scrimm .... Mr. Meahpares
    Tina Wesson .... Alex Rousseau

    "Genesis: Part 2" Episode: #2.2 - 21 September 2005
    Sarah Clarke .... Asylum Patient/Co-Pilot
Judging by the dates on the episodes.. are we getting a 2 hour season premiere? :D At least they're correctly scheduled for the Wednesday now

yeah its probably a good thing about SLJ not being in lost, i dont think having that thesbian slut on the show would do much for it other than get a few more people to watch it purely because he is in it

    but thats just me

Speaking of 24, Dennis Hopper fitted the bill of Hollywood megastar who's just cool enough not to warp the series by his inclusion in series one.

100% agree. This is why I had an issue with SLJ - just too big a name for a show like Lost. Hopper was perfect for 24 because he just wasn't in the same A-list league. But he was still 'gimmicky' casting, which brought profile to the show. (Lost probably doesn't need the profile now that 24 did then, though.)
Can't remember, but was Hopper actually credited for his 24 role? If he was, there's another TV show I'm thinking of with a big-screen guest star who refused to be credited for the role. (This actually happens quite often for those who want to appear in something, but don't want the appearance to be used to promote the series.)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,990 ✭✭✭✭Giblet

It's been more or less confirmed that SLJ isn't appearing but Ana Lucia will be back.

Thank God. We were told Ana Lucia's character would become a permanent one, which is probably a good thing considering several character's stories have run their current threads pretty much to a conclusion.

As for the mystery about how Artz is to return, we were told he'd be a permanent cast member (or at least a recurring one) as well.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,416 ✭✭✭doh.ie

He was credited, but I think only from the next episode after he first appeared.

Ah. He may have been credited on the end credits of his first then, to keep him turning up a surprise for the viewer. Some cult shows often do this to keep fans who are savvy at recognising guest cast actor names from figuring out someone is going to make a return. (24 did this before with Nina, and maybe Sherry as well, and DS9 once kept the Female Changeling's credit until the end credits as it would have given the game away.)

Still can't remember which show had a prominent guest star refuse a credit at all... (I know TNG and DS9 had a few of those - one guy asked that his voice not be used after filming!)

Here is some stuff from Kristin at EOnline,I thought you guys might like to see. :)

From charlie: Oh. Dear. God. Samuel L. Jackson is joining Lost? Did you hear?
I did see that on IMDb.com, along with the news that Tina Wesson (as in, Colby's right-hand gal on Survivor) would also appear in the second season premiere. Nearly pulled a Rex on that one! But thankfully, Lost honcho Damon Lindelof emailed back to my desperate plea for info, saying, "I also heard that Sam Jackson is starring in our season premiere. Fascinating stuff. And by fascinating, I mean 'completely untrue.' " Whew! Personally, I'll take Tara Reid on VM any day over a Survivor on Lost.

From mino: Saw the box on your column over the weekend--so, Michelle Rodriguez is official?
Sí. She's a series regular next season. Says Damon: "Michele's character (Ana-Lucia) will be as purposefully shrouded in mystery as humanly possible. I can only assume there will be significant hunger for her backstory, but as the flashbacks have become the stealth 'franchise' of the show, giving away anything about her would amount to a significant spoiler...But we know she was sitting in the back of the plane. And we also know she's on the show next year...So, draw your own conclusions. If I were a betting man, I'd say some of those tail-folk just might have survived." Did you hear that Rose? He's aliiive!

From mhs82: Mmmm...The article about Michelle Rodriguez joining Lost has changed since it was first posted. It originally said Naveen Andrews was not a happy player? Why is that? It's not like his movie opened at number four!
The article in our News section? An incorrect rumor was picked up all over the place--that JJ Abrams had done an interview with KROQ and said some crazy things, like that everyone on the raft would survive and that they were having issues with a main castmember. ABC called to let us know it was totally false. Apparently, JJ did not even do an interview with KROQ. So, if you read anything about that, please know it is completely untrue.

From togamax: What did you think of the Lost finale? You haven't said much about it.
I thought it was beautifully shot and written and acted, etc., but, like most of you, I did expect a few more answers. I know some of you feel I oversold it a bit, and if you do feel that way, I'm truly sorry, but you should know, based on the tidbits I knew (the Others stealing Walt and blowing up the raft; the hatch opening), I really did expect some big reveals. The good news? I hear that first episode next season they are going down the hatch, so hopefully we will see the light!

Here's some more tidbits from Ask Ausiello on TVGuide.com regarding Lost:
Question: Will ABC be putting out a Lost CD? — Chris

Ausiello: It's been talked about, but there are no concrete plans at the moment. Seems like a no-brainer given the whole Driveshaft thing, no?

Question: Any chance you could get the name of the actor leaving Lost in October due to a contract dispute? Or at least a not-so-subtle hint? Fans are literally going nuts debating this. — Darin Cragen

Ausiello: Well, they can relax. Turns out the source of that rumor — an alleged interview J.J. Abrams did on L.A. radio station KROQ — was bogus. Just like that whole Samuel L. Jackson/IMDb thing. A good rule of thumb moving forward? Take any/all Lost rumors/spoilers with a grain of salt. (Unless, of course, you read them in AA.)

Question: Just one more teensy-weensy hint about Michelle Rodriguez on Lost? You're killing me here. — Dan

Ausiello: Well, for those who didn't figure it out after reading Monday's Entertainment News, the big secret is that — MAJOR SPOILER ALERT (more space) — Rodriguez's presumed-dead passenger will turn up very much alive on the island next season. Kinda seems anti-climactic now, eh?

cool...im feel better a character isnt leaving, because in all honesty when i first heard a character was dying in season 1,i hoped it would be boone, because he is the only one i found annoying and boring, the liek the rest of the cast. ever since he tackled michael while being lockes little lap dog i wanted to hit him! :D
