it is the 32"..the res on the pc part was in 640 x XXX ...that could cause it to look smaller i guess.

thats nuts, wasn't going by the res was going by the size of the keyboard, have the same one in work here and have two 26 inch screens in front of me and the keyboard

Hmmm, I haven't had a spin in a while. I know this has been asked before but I can't remember the answer:

Does Aldi take Laser or cheques?

They're not mad on giving out operational numbers, you'd need to know someone that was given a direct dial by them.

    that sounds about right.

Guess I might have to try something a little underhand.

Doesnt sound like such a good deal after reading that post on a forum. Theres a 1000 post thread on avforums.com complaining about all of the things wrong with that TV. There are literally 10s of things that it claims it can do but can't.

I briefly considered it but after finding hundreds of people complaining bout it on avforums i reconsidered...

Has anyone managed to get a wall bracket for the Tevion 28" LCD TV for decent money? Have noticed the following

    - It's not a standard VESA size.
    - The 2 screws holes at the top are only into the TV's housing with no support behind like the lower screw holes. This would seem to indicate that the TV is supported with only 2 screws.
    - The screw holes again are not standard VESA

Have looked in some stores in Dublin but these brackets are 100 euro +

Can I resurrect this thread for some updates
With the time that has passed and the news that Aldi look like having this - or similar - TV back in again on Thursday 13th....
    ...is this a worthy purchase>

Also, whats the viewing angle like, I want to put this in my kitchen/dining/living room so some of the seat are at a narrow viewing angle ( to the left + right )

Will read back through this thread, but would really appreciate feedback from those who purchased and their experience to date

Also, if someone know of similar TV worthy of consideration, parhaps post on the other thread doing the rounds here

It would want to be a good deal cheaper this time around.

There are better HD LCDs around for that price these days.

I'm not hugely impressed with it in the long run. I find that a lot of ghosting occurs on fast moving images, such as a person a running.

And I never managed to get my Xbox 360 working in HD with it at all.

I must be lucky then - never had any problems with it, and my 360 works fine using a vga lead adapted into the DVI input. But as prices have changed, I'd expect it to be a lot cheaper this time round.

very tempted but then then followed link from this thread to another board re : that the tv does not meet HDTV criteria, does anyone use it with their xbox 360
I have the leads with premium pack and an advanced scart would this do ?
I am very very tempted by this deal as it seems to be the best there is at the moment.

Base 2 your comments scare me , how come the hi def did not work ?
could you post an example to a better priced similar TV that you referred to ?

    and this link

really really scared me !!! I'm running scared man !!!!

Can get good branded TV's for a small bit more, thats not a great deal.

Its a fine tv for the price (at the time mind), but it just can't actually do high def. I only brought it back to get the full refund to go abroad and I was quite happy with it up to that. It does high resolution with computers but just not 'high def' sources.

    Hi Vasch,

That link didnt work for me - can you tell me the gist of what it said ? I may be interested in one of these as they look like a good deal.

Can anyone who has one say is it good enough for pc games ?

Are there any caveats with buying one ?

What is the max resolution it can run at (I know this will depend on the card too ) - is there any upper limit to what resolution the tv can handle ?

Is it clear enough to read text - or do you have to bump up the font size /lower the resolution ?

Can you get wall mount brackets for it easily enough ?

Any info on the above would be appreciated.

    Cheers

this is what the link said :
The Aldi sales leaflet and the packaging made various claims about specifications and features and included the "HD Ready" logo.
The major issues are with the statements:
    Quote:
"Dual tuner allowing full picture-in picture viewing so you can watch two channels at the same time or watch TV and use your computer at the same time"
    Quote:
    “HDTV compatible
    - analogue via Scart (480i, 480p 576i, 576p, 720i, 720p, 1080i) via composite Sync”
Reviews in Germany suggest that the failure of the latter feature means that the claim "HD Ready" is incorrect.
The EICTA license for the "HD Ready" logo, granted to Medion/Tevion, requires a 720p & 1080i analogue component input.
In tests on both original TVs and those with upgraded firmware, we have been unable to achieve a workable 720p or 1080i analogue component input on the Scart connections.

We informed Aldi of the problems and specifically of the HD Ready issue on 12th July by letter & fax requesting acceptance of the fault.

On 14th July Aldi advertised a new 42" Plasma screen with the logo "HD Ready". We informed Aldi that as this screen only had 480 vertical pixels, it could not conform with the HD Ready license conditions. Forum members were in contact with EICTA.

On 19th July Aldi informed us that they would be removing the HD Ready logo from their website and national advertising. We noted that they still were handing out leaflets with the logo on the 20th!

On 20th July Aldi stated that they had been assured by Medion that the 32" LCD fully conformed with the requirements for "HD Ready" but that Aldi had sent a TV to be independently tested to resolve the matter.

On 21st July the Plasma goes on sale - members report stores are displaying the HD Ready logo on posters, a number of members report some stores are not displaying any notice saying it is not "HD Ready"
Aldi fax a summary copy of the independent test. It clearly says that the Scart component analogue input at 720p and above fails - "no sync., disrupted picture". Copy attached to: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showp...postcount=1186
Aldi state that Medion say this does not matter as the input works over DVI.
If this is accepted, it means that only one HD device can be attached to the TV. To use a 2nd or 3rd the plugs at the back of the TV must be changed.
When tested by members, analogue input via the DVI socket results in unacceptable dark images.

I believe this refers to a very similar model TV and or possibly the same TV.
    If you go to http://www.avforums.com
and do a search for the aldi 32 inch LCd you will find the entire 152 page thread !!! and other interesting stuff.
