Is it still around, its not on cartell?:)
I doubt it. I was looking at an old photograph at work of a staff outing. The Fiat minibus used was in the background with that reg. A work colleague reckoned that the outing occurred around 1983 and thought that the bus was about 4 years old then.

Definitely 1980 alright, I have a Mini with a reg about 500 higher, still going strong

It being a bus meant it probably had a hard life, thats why it was scrapped long ago..

The 111 MZL reg makes it a mid march 1981 car,i doubt it has much miles traveled somehow, though its on cartell so it must have been taxed recently enough.Imagine the price of that brand new!what other tasty beemers has he in there?

That M1 is always in Keanes.
There is a number of other classics in there including an E30 320i Anniversary model with about 20 miles on it, some 02s, a 507 and a 1959 503

Nice!!Theres an unregistered 1978 beetle with 27 miles on the clock in divanes VW garage in castleisland in kerry, wonder what other low mileage cars are in showrooms around the country?

Pierse Motors in Tipp town have a very low mileage 1303 beetle convertible in their showroom from time to time. I think they had to register it in the mid '80s for some reason so it has a plate that's at odds with its year. From memory it's a '78

That one in Divanes was resprayed gold when they got it for some reason which is a pity.

Ah,i always thought the colour was odd,its undersealed too which wasnt really needed as it was never going to hit a wet road, kinda ruins the new car look.

    Interesting Escort, looks well prepared.

I used to own a similar one, same kit and wheels, 864 CZH..........where are you now ??

It was bought by someone who used to work for Austin McHale

That's in Sheehy Motors in Naas. The pic was taken at the opening of their new showrooms about a tear or two ago. I don't know if it's still on display anymore.

Was in Sheehys about 2 weeks ago - the only Beetles I could see were 2008 models !

is the green beetle an RHD mexican beetle? or is it an original 0 mile brand new 1978?

Looks like a base spec 1200,theres no vents behind the rear side windows,no chrome in the side and rear window rubbers,no chrome hubcaps, and the dash is painted?Looks like its on some sort of turntable too?

I don't think Mexico ever built a RHD version of the Beetle, although I could be wrong about that.

I thought I was fairly up to date with the classic car scene in Ireland but this has just blown me away.....an Original Irish M1 sitting in a dealership on the Naas Road?!Beautiful cars-was passed by one on the Autobahn two years ago on the way to Croatia in the GS.The definitive mid-engined lines IMO.
Does anybody know the history of this car?Mileage? Is it taken out every now and again or does it stand unused for long periods? Is there an enthusiast at the garage who is deliberately collecting old Beemers?I'm utterly astonished! Thanks for the post.

It also has a thin rim dished steering wheel, the mexican bugs had whatever golf steering wheels were current at the time as far as i can remember offhand,i didnt know the 1200 base was sold in this country,my bug is a 77 1200 and it has a padded dash, hubcaps and the big flat steering wheel with the wolfsburg crest in the middle. The 74 i broke for parts years ago before had a similar spec.
Does anyone know if that version of the 1200 was sold here?

Pre '87 Meath registered M3(?) spotted in Lusk, Co Dublin, this evening.

(Is the owner trying to hide the Meath registration?)

    BMWM36501AIRear.jpg

    BMWM36501AIFront.jpg

And a Mark IV Dublin registered Cortina also spotted in Lusk. (I've passed this countless times but never got the chance to get a pic until this evening!)

carchaeologist - you might throw a couple of years on those - 6501 AI & 988 NZD. Thanks. :)
