A bit of me died inside seeing those 2CV's and the classic Lite Ace van on the way to the crusher. There should be laws preventing people from doing this!

    Well actually.....1 x 2CV & 2 x Dyane 6s

Before Christmas I saw this car, a Ford Zodiac Mark 2, apologies for the bad picture but there was a tacky christmas decoration perched on the car. I also saw this MGB GT.

That Zodiac is owned by Rigneys in Dungourney as far as I know, it's in Abernathys Ford garage in Midleton for a while now as well as a few others. They had a lovely Ford woody wagon there last year too.

@ jozi - good spot! I think they're cars that feature in the BBC 60s detective show "George Gently" starring Martin Shaw (yep, from the Professionals!).
They had a lot of the exact same cars, and more, in Greystones a couple of weeks back for the same reason. Most cars are on UK plates, but i noticed one of the Rovers is on ZVs

Spotted within the Four Courts this morning.

(It was debadged so I won't attempt the nomenclature as I often get it wrong! :D)

That's why it's debadged, it's the poor mans version of the 300:D.

If that chrome strip along the flank and the chrome wheel arches are original and not retro fitted, it IS in fact a 300SE, as these were exclusively fitted to the 300SE...
Only a quick peek under the bonnet to look at the chassis number (W112 instead of W111) , or a glance under the wheel arches to confirm it's air suspension would confirm this.

^ either way, its a beautiful machine. I think they are the most elegant large coupes of 'recent' times

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,266 ✭✭✭MercMad

Yeah its a 220SE Coupe, owned by a Club member. He actuallu used to have a 280SE 3.5 badge on it but obviously saw sense !

This car is used daily and has been for years, and the owner regularly uses it for intercontinental rallies. He believes that these cars should be used and he has spent alot of money over the years keeping it in tip top shape. T&D Heaney restored it about 6 or 7 years ago and thats when the 300SE parts were fitted !

Here's another being campaigned by Richard McAllister, this one is a 300SE.

    cm07_515.jpg

Obviously you will all also know Frank Fennell who has been victorious many many times in his versions,

    PS - Sorry for the hi-jack !!
