    Rare find that R18!

    Rare find that R18!

Indeed...they were rare even back in the 80's.
I recall that our local parish priest had one in the late-80's/early-90's ...same colour as R18 estate pictured above iirc...possibly '_NI' reg too.

I also recall one of our local (Opel!) garage co-owners who drove a red R18 saloon for years with trade plates permanently attached - until 1986 when it was finally registered!
I suppose it was better than 'FOR REG' plates:D

Lovely little mini. Were the side repeaters standard in '87.

    :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Easy to fit though if they're not original, MAYBE replacment s/h wings with them attached

    MAYBE,MAYBE......

I have it in my head that side repeaters came around 1984 when disc brakes and 12" wheels showed up.

I also think those headlamp peaks are the biggest crock of ****e accessory ever.

I think that side repeater indicators came in for 1986 model year, as part of an EU regulation (open to correction).

That's when the Mk1 Golf Cabriolet got them - I remember it well, as my '82 Golf hardtop gained them after a minor accident meant that I put a pair of later-model cabrio wings on it, and had to add the wiring to get the new indicators working :)

They did, I had a look back earlier and found them on C-reg Minis.:o

If you're gonna pick holes in the spec of it, have a pop at the (incorrect) auld Austin badge on the bonnet not the feckin' (correct) indicators. :P

    MEE OWWW
I only asked the question because I thought they were out of place. I didn't mention the "eyebrows" on the headlamps, that's a owners own choice. I still think it a lovely clean example of an iconic car from most of our teenage(and earlier)years. Not picking holes at all.

:D:D I was of course pulling your leg.

Like Landies, nothing is out of place on a Mini, it's rare to see one in plain Jane factory spec.

Went to view this with a mate today, looking for a new challenge. Its the one on Donedeal atm. Body had 9 holes on the bodywork, some fairly bad now. Driver's side sill is gone, but the floors were alright. Engine wasn't turning over and the inside was eaten by mice. Offered a cheeky €250, its all its worth really tbh.

Viewed this 1500 this morning. Quite rusty underneath and around the front end. too far gone tbh, subframe was like a sponge. To top it all off, the car we were travelling in blew up on the M50 and the owner dropped the bonnet on my head :pac:

Sorry, I can't seem to find anything that say thats a requirement for this thread.

Anyway, you always seem to have something to say about my posts in this thread. I don't have to explain myself and I certainly won't. If you don't like my posts please just add me to your ignore list because you can be quite annoying sometimes when you shoot down my posts.

I won't reply to anything further you have to say. Probably best to just leave it at this and not full up the thread with petty comments.

Porsche 993 one of the most beautiful incarnations of the 911 and the end of the air cooled era.
