Saw a 911 for sale today in that taxitaxi place on NCR.I had just had a quick look while driving by, It certainly wasn't a modern one, late 70's I'd say,but i know little about them, could have been younger.

Re. the Manta - class ! I love it that the 70's and early 80's cars are coming into fashion now

I saw a Citroen behemoth on ZV plates in Deansgrange at about 1530h yesterday (Wednesday). You know, the big one with the Maserati engine ? Think it's called an SM. Got a pic, need to get it off the camera, but here's a stock photo:

That's a SM alright... Serious Motor!!Not for the fainthearted. The French version of a land yacht.

.......wouldn't that have been an XM or a CX estate ?

I dont believe they made an other version of the SM other that the 2 door Coupe shown !

Well, there was a short/chopped version for rally racing (did wonders in Morocco) and a 4 door convertible for the President of France. Giscard d'Estaing loved it.

Lyre is it true that the manual says that you should not open the windows at high speed? The urban legend is that AirCon was compulsory on the SM because the huge rear window would blow off if you opened the windows at high speed...

Not quite true - a friend of mine has 2 four door SM "Operas". In fairness only 8 of them were made by Chapron.

No, Fraid not, But the windows are glued on and you can have problems with water leaks. The air con in the SM is Always on, and the European spec ones did not come with a cut off switch in case the aircon went for a burton. The final result being that the aircon can destroy the engine.:(

My one is an american version so it has a different front to the other gold one shown.

On colours, there is a grey one in harolds cross, and green one in Rathmines and I think there is a blue one in Cork if memory serves.

There are three I know of in Cork city and county, a white one, a blue one and a green one, but there could be more.

ha ha, but the fact that the A/C is always on, would seem to confirm where the legend comes from... I am happy I did not dream that.

Awesome machine. The are gorgeous when in good nick, but dont deteriorate gracefully. There was a white one, daily driver, near me in London. Looked like a sad beached whale... :(
