Yeah I'm sure it pleased a good few guys when Shannon turned out to be gay and had an affiar with a writer? Something like that..

See Melissa George doin well for herself in Hollywood...Amityville Horror!

Isla Fisher is in the new Owen Wilson movie, I can't remember what it's called. Anyone remember the time Shannon got a 'bad' boyfriend, and she dyed her hair black - the boyfriend somehow put Pippa in a coma, I can't remember what happened, but Sam blamed Shannon for it, and Shannon retorted with "Well it was your fault that Michael died!" Harsh or what?
I loved the way whenever someone fell sick or something, they always went to hospital in Yabbie Creek and weren't mentioned at all for a few months
Anyone remember that other show Melissa George was in, I think it was called Roar?

Must frustrating storyline ever! I don't know what I expected (it was a 6:30 time slot) but man was I bummed out when the writer left and there was no jiggy

LOL I remember when Bobby came out of Ailsa's fridge. If you didnt see it it was like the scene in Terminator II when the T1000 comes up out of the floor in the prison. Except it was a (terrible) 3D model of Bobby's face that kinda of spoke something or other from the fridge door. Hiiilarious!

Poor old mad Ailsa, trying to kill Alf, that was great as well.

BTW does anyone know how many iterations or versions there has been of the theme tune. As far as I know it was completely rewritten at some point.

I'd say four. Have to listen to it tonight. I never catch the start of it. Only flick it on now if nothing else on.

My brother always thought it was sung by Bobby and Frank. Gob****e, sure it told you who sung it at the end!! Well he was around 10 so..

And if you were unfortunate enough to live in the UK, you'd have seen even less than we did - they cut out the entire storyline, deeming it unfit for kids at its timeslot. Ah the progressive world we live in...

i used to be a huge fan of home and away when it came out in the beginning. back in 1989 when i was seven. i think it was first screened around the time RTE2 became Network2. i grew up with it and never missed an episode. during the summer when out with friends, we'd all go home around six for our tea and then meet back up later on after home and away. then it all went to ****...
i stopped watching it full time around 1997- i think the night when michael drowned saving jack was one of the last episodes i seen. i seen it recently but it seems to be no more than a repeat of all the old plots.
anyway ive a few questions to ask people
anybody remember Meg? Blakes girlfriend who died-i had a huge crush on her when i was about ten. oh and Roxy, she was hot! remember Saul, and that whole cult thing that was going on with selina. or does anybody remember that guy he was kinda asian looking, he had longish hair- he went off to join a band and they got successful. what was his name and what was the bands name??
or travis, what was his wifes name?
i wish home and away was as good as it used to be

The Asian guy in the band was called Aaron and he lived with Alf Stewart, he had a druggie sister called Jusine but i dunno what happened to her.

Didnt Damien become a priest? Did he go off with Selina or was it Steven? I used to love Grant and Philip (Stevens uncle that died when Celia nad Alfs shop went on fire,) Philip was so gorgeous!

I used to watch this with my friends when I was about 7 or 8. But then Catch Phrase started coming on at the same time so I switched :o But anyway to annoy my friends I always try to pick up where I left off and ask them about Pippa.... or Angel. And how is she since swallowing that bee :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 37,214 ✭✭✭✭Dudess

Yeah, I was weak for Philip. He was married to Stacey I think - a blonde one. Remember Viv? Her father was a crazy religious nut who locked her in a cupboard. And she had a little sis, Tammy.

i still watch it, but more out of habit than anything. Sometimes it really annoys me because it just seems so stupid and ott, and sometimes i go through phases where i couldnt be arsed watching it, but in general i do, and usually know the particular plots and developments happening at the time

I remember crying at the scene in the diner where Pippa told Sophie that her fella (hang on, was it Guy Pearce?) had died in a crash!

And remember when Michael nearly drowned trapped under a boat or something and had to drink through a straw as the tide was rising and that's when he and Pippa fell in love?

Finlay was not fit, she had a funny shaped head.

Oh and Rory was the guy attacked by the shark.

I always remember the shock going through school the next day cos Bobby had called someone (Morag I think) a 'bitch' - don't think we'd ever heard someone say that on normal telly before.

Adam Cameron was so hot. It wasn't his fault Bobby died!! What was Adam's buddy called? Matt was it?

Didn't Shannon and Curtis pretend to be brother and sister when they first arrived? So it looked like there was gonna be some weird incest storyline, but then, phew, they were faking!

And yes, Meg's death on the beach was very emotional. And Blake's sister Karen had a face like a slapped arse.

Remember Haydyn with the flarey nostrils? Didn't he come back years later aswell?

And remember Tegan? The really nasty kid Pippa fostered, but then of course managed to turn her around with the awesome power of Pippa-love?

Who was the bad guy that terrorized Angel and Shane? I thought it was Dodge but someone mentioned him earlier and it didn't sound like him. I remember Shane kept getting blamed for stuff he did. Once the guy left a message on Shanes answering machiine, Shane thought this would prove that the guy was still alive, but it got erased when Pippa's second husband rang.
I could be wrong about this, it's so long ago!

Jesse had long hair once I remember, and his arch enemy (don't know his name either) got his mates to hold him down and he cut it all off. I laughed. :D

anyone remember alan - he was fisher's son and he had a thing with bobbi but it turned out they were half-brother/sister

anyway he was so fine. :D he was a surfer and he died of an aneurism but he reconciled with his dad before he died. aw soap land

    ha found this on imdb:

    #

    # When the character of Alan Fisher (Simon Kay) was killed-off, the producers later regretted their decision due to a fan back-lash. Several ideas were penned where the actor could make a believable return, including one where a movie was made on Alan's novel, "The Crest of a Wave" (although the novel wasn't launched until 2001 in the show), and Simon would show up as another character "with a moustache" to audition for the lead, stunning other cast members with his resemblance to the dead Alan.

selina did have a sprog but it died i think it was called maddie. eveil saul said he could help her bring back maddie or something like that but just wanted to brainwash her and sleep with her etc and she twigged it in time.
Still watch it its not as bad as it was 2/3 years ago. all teh storylines are a re-hash though. The thing about tash and the cult i sthat same as the one about selina and the cult etc i hated shane and angel but there was some great characters -teigan, shannon, chloe, travis joey etc god id love to get my hands on some old videos lol. Theres a site you can go to that does summaries of the ozzie episodes

Heh, the words "Bobby" and "Ewing" spring to mind. But yeah, I remember being gutted when Alan died. What a specimen of hotness! He did indeed cause strange and scary thoughts to go through my innocent 12-year-old mind...:(
Incidentally, and I swear it's true despite the Father Ted-like surrealism of it, my brother met the actress who played Celia (Alf's nosey, gossiping holy joe sister) and the actress who played Pippa (mark 2) in L&N supermarket (now Super Valu) in Ballincollig, a suburb of Cork! Loads of people were coming up to "Pippa" and she started getting really pissed off but "Celia" apologised on her behalf and said she wasn't used to such attention because she had only started playing Pippa. That would have been 1991.

Yep, I remember it vividly. I will hold my hand up and admit that as a child I copped onto the whole birds and the bees thing because of that storyline :o .

I remember that 'Girl From Mars' by Ash used to be playing on the Diner jukebox very often around 97.
