i used to be a huge fan of home and away when it came out in the beginning. back in 1989 when i was seven. i think it was first screened around the time RTE2 became Network2. i grew up with it and never missed an episode. during the summer when out with friends, we'd all go home around six for our tea and then meet back up later on after home and away. then it all went to ****...
i stopped watching it full time around 1997- i think the night when michael drowned saving jack was one of the last episodes i seen. i seen it recently but it seems to be no more than a repeat of all the old plots.
anyway ive a few questions to ask people
anybody remember Meg? Blakes girlfriend who died-i had a huge crush on her when i was about ten. oh and Roxy, she was hot! remember Saul, and that whole cult thing that was going on with selina. or does anybody remember that guy he was kinda asian looking, he had longish hair- he went off to join a band and they got successful. what was his name and what was the bands name??
or travis, what was his wifes name?
i wish home and away was as good as it used to be

Travis' wife was Rebecca. Tall and blonde. Very nice.
I still watch it after work while eating my dinner. It's nice bland TV but certainly beter than Eastenders or Coronation Street. At least there's a few good looking birds in H&A!

I'm with EddieHitler on this one.. Home and Away did have it's classic period. And yes I remember Blake's girlfriend. Died on the beach in his arms if I recall.. I used to fancy the pants off her aswell. She reminded me of a girl I went to school with.
There were some good plots in it's day. I don't watch it now though, I'm 28!

    K.

yeah, i must admit the plots were always a bit far fetched and a bit silly, but when i was a kid we all tawt there was nothing like it. as for the birds, it was always top notch- remember angel? mmm!

She done some nice nude pictures for a certain mag when she finished H&A and so did selena, anyone want me to post them

    Two questions,

Did Lynn ever come back when she ran away
Did they ever find the summer Bay nutter.

    Yes. Yes we do.

It was never good - but then again I only ever watched any of it because the people I lived with seemed to draw some comfort from it's sunny fostered banality. My cynical attitude towards soaps extends right across the range.

Ah I used to really like the show. I still fondly remember Selina's prophetic dream of a cliff-top fight that came true although I'm not sure who was involved - was it Blake? We'll just say it was...

Anyone remember another classic moment when Bobby Fisher came out of Ailsa's fridge? Hilarious! Apparently the actress who played her (Judy Nunn springs to mind for some reason) couldn't stop laughing when filming it.

Or going back further, when that guy umm.. was trying to freak out a girl and he planned to pretend to leap off Stewart's Point and land on a small ledge below the cliff top, only he got it wrong and plummeted to his death?

What was the name of Sophie's nemesis who almost got her kicked out of Pippa's gaff? The one who was a deliciously conniving bitch who then, when kicked out of the house, was last seen entering the car of some rich millionaire?

Ah all those memories, going right back to Pippa #1 and Tom...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,811 ✭✭✭✭billy the squid

wasn't there some sort of a clifftop fight between Carly and some fella, he went over the edge.. speaking of cliftop fights, how many people ended up jumping/falling off stewarts point. quite a few if I remember rightly.

Floss and Neville lived in the circus caravan in the caravan park. Floss had a premenition about a car crash that Frank Morgan(Alex Papps) was in where he died and was brought back to life.

Remember Bible thumping Celia. she went off to some missionary in africa. I kinda got turned off it when pippa number one left. the first pippa was more carefree while the new one was always worrying about money.

one of the characters was attacked by a shark in one of the episodes also, cant remember who though. a couple of the fellas there ended up catching it with a fishing rod.

Just on Travis's wife Rebecca, in real life she got breast cancer twice, is married to one of Australias biggest showbiz stars(and millionaire ) now, called Rove has a program called Rove live, tis actually quite funny, she has only been out and about in the last few months after the second stint with cancer - fair play to her and him for supporting her, he could have a whole lotta the women over here if he chose too

I remember when Bobby came out of the fridge!! Do you remember when Ailsa went mad andtried to kill Alf the whole time? I thought that was hilarious too!
I don't remember the bit with the cliff, but it sounds pretty hilarious - only in Home & Away!!
Did anyone else think it was strange the way Duncan, a pretty minor character, was in a bicycle crash and disappeared for months on end - and when he came back, he was the ugliest kid in the universe? I would have been so mad if I'd been Alf or Ailsa!

She was also in a 7up ad that used to be played all the time - the "I'm in love with your sister" one, where she pours coffee all over the guy? (Strangely enough, I think Sam from Home and Away was the guy)

Just a random question that was bugging me for ages, regarding Leah from Home and Away - was she the girl with the white rabbit tattoo in the first Matrix movie? Cos nobody seems to know. Just they look so alike! And was the guy in the Matrix who was obsessed with the Lady in Red actually Damien from Home and Away? I know the Matrix was filmed in Australia, so it's certainly possible

I think Lance, Martin, Moreg and the other sister were the glory days. I saw it recently and the comedy element was gone.

    Yes on both accounts.

Oh Home and Away, anyone remember the clifftop fight between Steven and Dodge when he came back for revenge and he and Steven went over the cliff after Dodge asking "Feeling lucky Stevo"? lol

And Tug and Sarah and the very start when Dodge set fire to Alf Store?

    Ah those days lol :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,505 ✭✭✭irlirishkev

I got in from work last night, and i put on Home and Away to have a look. I noticed two things.

    1) Morag's still in it. I thought she'd be dead at this stage.

    2) Sally's blossomed nicely.

    Kevin.

Yep, i remember that, stephen was such a ponce.
I can't remember if he was lucky and survived, i think he did....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,954 ✭✭✭✭Larianne

Jaysus, that was bringing back an awful lot of memories.

THink it was the OP who asked who was the oriental dude with the band. That was Aaron with the curly curly mop and his sister was Justine (who was no way oriental and had blonde hair) who was a drug addict but got nice then.

I remember Meg and her dying on the beach with Blake. Blake's sister Karen who was a bitch.

Then there was the whole Frank, Bobby, Roo (Alf's daughter) love triangle. I dunno, did Roo have Frank's baby? I can't remember.

I hated how they brought back Adam and made him mean!! He was really funny back in the early days and making him mean was stupid.

Does anyone remember when Sally's goldfish died?? I think someone froze it or something, Bobby is coming to mind and then when Sally found out, they gave it a sea burial or they let it float away on the sea or something. lance was with her.

I think the first time I saw it was when there was a fire in the Fletcher's house or something or Stephen was remembering his house burning down? Stephen had an affair with his teacher.

Chloe was raped by that dude mark who was also in Neighbours and meant to marry Annalise but she stood him up.

Gypsy and Tom, Travis' niece and nephew. (had a bit of a thing for Tom) ;) .

Duncan was such an ugly child. Is it true that the origianl Duncan died from Cancer??

Roxy was meant to be with Nick and poilceman, Shan'es brother but didnt she bugger off with someone else.

I remember Sarah. Struggling with Tug, was he a bit of a dufus?

Remember Alfs, old old shop and then they got the newer one, where you could rent videos! And the ladder to get the pasta from the top shelf.

The old diner with the burger phone. Oh How I wanted one of those soooo bad.

I thought one of the saddest scenes was when Sophie was giving up baby Tamara to her mother in law.

Remember Irene was going for a Country and Western singing comp and joey and Selina (i think it wws them) made her a costume that had fairy lights around it. And she nearly went up in flames.

When Joey pretending to be a woman after he wrote some top selling book.

The evil (itialian) looking girl (her name began with L, I think) who went out with Curtis (guy with bad skin and foster brother of Shannon). She got killed by a train while running away from trouble. Curit swne ton the drink and then amazingly another girl came into town who looked actually like the first girl. Theyre' doing the same thing in the storyline now with Josie Russell. That Itialian girl was also in Neighbours for a short while.

Ok, that's all for now, as I could go on but I won't.... Yeah I was addicted to Home & Away when little!

(took me so long to write this post, the feckin website logged me out!!)

Saul was that hippy dude that came to summer bay. He got with Selina and brainwashed her and turned her against everyone else. He was one scary dude. Then Joey is Saulss son but he seemed to escaped the evilness of Saul. Can't remember how he was introduced. Probably escaped the commune.

Selina was finally rescued can't remember by who though. And I think Saul was banished from the Town. He did come back though but I dunno what he did or if he got his revenage. Did Selina have Saul's baby? She did get pregnant didn't she?? can't remember.

Think the reason it's so **** now, is that it was always **** but we were young and didn't know any better!! Back then it was teaching us about the world. Now it's like ah the world ain't exactly like that. I'd worry about people who have grown up and stil what it!!

yea i think your right actually. jayses you have some memory!! it just seemed good to us when we were kids i guess.it was on at lunchtime the other day, i nearly threw up on my sandwiches when i saw how bad it was!!! i dont know the answer to that question about selina though...someone here probably does though.

Yeah I saw it in another thread. The Official Home and Away thread (or was it in this one,too much time spent in this forum!)

Haven't seen the porno no. Never heard of it. I'd say its more of an interest for guys. Sally is a very irritating character. Always whinging about something. Shut up woman.

The most important question here is why oh why is it called "home and away"?i woke up drunk this morning and could hear the theme tune blaring in the backround and asked that very question.....we were left undecided and very unhappy.
It should really be called "summer bay" or "reese is the ugliest man on the planet"
