Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dublin should be getting/have gotten a pasting from that, bright echos.

I really cant imagine getting fed up with it! I know my other half will certainly be happy when its really spring, sick of seeing me on the computer all the time and talking about snow!

Just some thick broken cloud around here at the moment, otherwise pretty clear sky, got pretty windy though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

It is hard to call, my guess is that if Wicklow town gets a shower, then Tullow Town should get it, because the wind is coming that way, of course, any precip has to negotiate the Mountains first, which could take alot of the snowfall out of the clouds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,325 ✭✭✭highdef

Well that shower did feck all here in Baldoyle, North Dublin, the one from the 23:00 BBC radar that was supposed to give us a "pasting"! A bit of sleet - barely even wet the ground - Not very impressed at all - might just go to bed - not worth staying up for

  • Subscribers Posts: 8,322 ✭✭✭Scubadevils

yeah, I'm going to bed before I get into trouble. Need to keep energy anyway for the real stuff later in the week :)

Hopefully later in the week we will be discussing how deep the snow is and commenting on how similar it is to '82

Hasn't snowed here for hours in Mountmellick Danno nor has it stuck.

You need to move further inland, anyways, the Dublin City heat island effect would kill any snow!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

Mountmellick has seen nothing for hours?

    Gosh, I AM lucky then!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

Nice echos on the BBC midnight radar all down the east coast...

Total white out blizzard here now in Arklow

    Very strong wind with it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,325 ✭✭✭highdef

They must be just missing me Danno. Think I'm a little too far north. No Dublin city heat island effect here - I'm very near the east coast with an easterly so that won't bother me - Only the warm sea can keep the snow away from here - And it's doing a great job of that so far this evening!!! :(

Should be snow in North Laois now, big clouds to my north...

More to my east and NE, the 0030z radar is showing more, albeit light showers...

Just got another pathetic excuse for a shower. Started with an orange sky and a bit of hail and sleet. Roads were beginning to turn white and the hail sleet was blowing round. Then it eased a bit and turned to sleet, then stopped. All in all, a shower that lasted about 3 minutes. So much for the barrage of snow showers promised!!! Ground is just plain old wet again and not a chance of that freezing with temps being as high as they are

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

Too much salt in the air.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

Is there no frost on the east coast tonight?

It's -1 here and everything is frozen solid.

1 to 2cm lying snow aswell!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,890 ✭✭✭embee

Correction, the snow is beginning to STICK!

    w00tage!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,325 ✭✭✭highdef

Still a couple of degrees above freezing here in Dublin so not a hint of ice - not here anyway - too much salt in the air ;)
Anyway with the wind being as strong as it is, you really do need temps at or below freezing in order for anytype of freezing

Ok, snow has stuck!!!! In Navan.... nice blanket of snow covering the roads, paths, etc......

    Thanks for the report Lainey!

The red light on the mast on the hill five miles away is not visible, so snow is on the way!

    Quite heavy snow now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

Just looking at the rain rate radar on Metcheck, there is a constant shower line from here right back up to Dublin!

If the wind stays the same direction, then an hour of snow is on for me!

It is following the N7/N8 line perfectly!

1 INCH LYING. Still snowing very hard.
