Myself and few of the lads from my group in Skerries are heading up as are quite a few others from the Southern Counties. I'm Really forward to it and meet up with you guys.

As I understand it Rick will not be teach JKD, but FMA Boxing, Knife, BJJ (GI) and Combat Submission Wrestling so something there for every one I think.

As to your question regarding legitemate qualified teachers of JKD in Ireland I honestly believe that's hard question to answer. Obviously you need to have trained first hand and not through books, DVD or online (all valuable resources but no substitute for learning first hand) but you risk the possibillity of getting back into the arguement of what is JKD anyway.

For the record I'm an Apprentice Instructor under Martin O'Neill of JKD Ireland teaching a small group in Skerries North Co. Dublin.

It will be good to finally meet you person crosstrainer1 on Saturday in Belfast.

Is that not the only way some of them can make money? If they train under a JKD Instructor who already has a Representative here, they would have to join that class and actually train under a live teacher. They be a student and if their goal was to make make money this would be no good.

Seems to be a growing number especially in the South East Asian Arts suddenly becoming qualified to teach, after watching a dvd or two. In our art it takes about 4 to 5 years of hard work to become qualified to teach, yet I seen student leave and suddenly a few weeks later their Guru's in another style and trying to teach. I can understand people need money, but it's abit of a rip off making people attend class training while the instructor of the class learnt completely by video.

ONE OF THE GREAT EXPERIENCES OF TRAINING AT KRAUSE ACADMEY GLASOW UNDER MIKE AND STEVE KRAUSE IS THE STORIES OF THEIR TRAINING UNDER GURU DAN FROM THE EARLY 80S. AND WHAT YOU LEARN IS OF THE HARD WORK AND DEDICATION AND THE HIGH LEVEL OF MARTIAL ARTS KNOWLEDGE THEY HAVE, AND THE LEVELS THEY WENT TO TO ACHIVE IT. AND ILL NOT MENTION THE MONEY COST BETWEEN TRAVELING TO AMERICA AND BRINGING OVER INSTRUCTORS LIKE GURU DAN/ AJAN CHAI AND THE LATE LARRY HARTSELL. WITH A WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE ACROSS THE WATER AND GUYS LIKE MIKE AND STEVE, RICK YOUNG AND BOB BREEN WHO HAVE SEEN JKD DEVELOP FROM ITS INFANT DAYS TO TODAYS MODERN WORLD IT ESCAPES ME TO WONDER WHY SOME ONE WHOULD NEED TO GO ELSEWHERE

Totally agree with you Crosstrainer. Steve and Mike introduced me to JKD around '87 and even way back then, they had a wealth of knowledge and great teachers of the art. When you have people like Bob and Rik on your doorstep, and even Martin up North, if you wanted to learn Jkd, these are the kind of guys you want to learn from, with decades of experience of not just learning and being technically good, but also becoming good at passing the information on.

I think we now in the age of people no longer wanting to learn a art properly, instead students now want to scan a art, take a few techniques and make up their own art. I love being a student and learning from teachers, and have made a point in bringing good teachers to my clubs and students, so they can experience a living Master. I've have no problem with internet teachers except on one point, that they should be more honest to the general public, they should advertise they are internet taught and actually explain the length of time they have actually spent learning a art form. The general public believe these claims and can be easily conned especially at the start. I know of one of my students who now advertise himself according to who he teaching and what mood he in as a "Sifu" "Guru" "Guro" "Sensei" as he claims in a year master many arts and claims to be a second Dan in FMA

IM GLAD SOMEONE OF YOUR QUALITY IN MARTIAL ARTS LIAM AGREES. I REMEMBER YOU TRAINING WITH PETE MCKENNA YEARS AGO AND IM GLAD YOUR STILL GOING STRONG. SO THIS IS ONE POINT I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE AND THAT IN IRELAND NORTH AND SOUTH WE HAVE A ALOT GOOD INSTRUCTORS, BUT THEY ARE OUT NUMBERED BY ALOT OF CRAP ONES TRYING TO SELL THEIR OWN BRAND OF MARTIAL ARTS. BUT DEPTH AND KNOWLEDGE OR LACK OF IT ARE EASYLY FOUND OUT. HE SAYS HE ACCOCATED WITH INSTRUCTORS UP NORTH BUT APART FROM MYSELF AND MARTIN I DONT KNOW ANYONE WHO TEACHES JKD IN THE NORTH SO WHOS HE LINED UP WITH. THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING A JKD STUDENT IS THAT WE LOVE BEING WHITE BELTS AS WE NEVER WANT TO STOP LEARNING:)

    Hi everyone,

I offer classes in DUBLIN of FILIPINO KALI, JEET KUNE DO, PENTJAK SILAT, WING CHUN, KICKBOXING, MMA and a new course of WOMEN'S ANTI-RAPE SYSTEM, thought to give one more chance to women in case of bad encounters.
A wide range of courses to satisfy all needs and interests in the world of martial arts.
Feel free to contact me at martial_arts@hotmail.it to let me know if you want to join my classes, so that I would be able to create a minimum group of 5 people to start my classes.
There would be a lot of training, both on a traditional and on a modern basis, and seminars to learn new techniques and training methods - It’s only when a man can go outside the bounds set by his system that he excels [Dan Inosanto, 1972]- that's why you'll be participating to seminars of several styles and international masters to become a real martial artist, the one who stops the fight before starting it.

As far as the gym location is concerned, let's keep posted by email as am looking for one.

SPREAD THE WORD with your friends, the more you are the more you can train better.

Here are some short videos created "ad hoc" to show what my classes are about

    Hi

tnx for your reply...no there is no kfm since am showing the traditional arts apart for the JKD which is shown in its "concepts" style. KFM of Justo Dieguez is a very efficient way of self-defence which, being a modern style created few years ago, incorporates jkd-kali techniques. So it's KFM which has a lot of kali and jkd, could not be the opposite. Indeed, justo is a certified instructor under Dan Inosanto. I would like to attend some seminars with him and bring my future students to his seminars, cuz I think you never stop learning.
As regards my history, I've studied JKD-Kali-Silat-Kick-MMA from my sifu-guru Salvatore Di Sirio who was trained by AKEA Association and then joined the Martial Arts Research Systems of Ron Balicki (Dan Inosanto's legacy), under guru Giovanni Candela here in Italy, the representative of Ron Balicki in Italy.
Then studied Wing Chun under sifu Paolo travaglini, a certified instructor under sifu Randy Williams, and judo under master Giuseppe Bracone, president of LIBERTAS for the Molise region. Also am a shodan in AIkido, under sensei Simone Chierchini (5° dan aikikai).
I have also attended a lot of seminars in all disciplines, to be up-to-date and learn different approaches.

would you be interested in joinin my courses or know anyone who would?
Anyway, the video shows just a little part of everything
