Hop over to guitar.com and ask about Shamray. You'll get pretty much nothing but good responces. Besides from the muppets

I'm not doubting their abilities as instrument makers, I just would wire a grand to a Russian website, nor would I post a cheque ;)

Meh, I think the same about sending money to Japan...

Nah, the Japanese gave us reliable cars and miniature electronics, as well as a load of quality guitars.

    Russia gave us...

    ...

    ...umm, Lada?

Meh, I'm still not sending them any money.

I wonder if they'd build a Shamray Stingray?

They can build you a Shamray Balalaika.

Maybe with some locking tuners and a Floyd? ;)

Naturally, from the finest T-55 recycled tank steel. :)

Go and look at Shamray's work and be silent!

I admit the reviews on Harmony Central are very good, but i would rather go with http://www.ranguitars.com/_en/index.htm

Derrick Nelson in Marlay Park makes guitars too. He made a 7 string hollowbody for Louis Stewart.

And how much did he charge?

I don't know, I'm neither of those guys.

Right, well in case anyone is wondering, I have come to the notion that I will definetly be getting a fixed bridge in the stealth.

Pity I'll probably have to hold back on buying it for a good while now with the prospects of the amp.

I would always go for the guitar before the amp.

    Really? Why so?

I think guitars are more personal, the guitar you'll play all the time, the amp only occasionally. If I had a guitar I wanted and an amp I wanted I don't think I'd be able to resist going for the guitar first. Just a personal thing really. If I were in your shoes I'd be getting the work started on the Stealth as soon as possible. It'd do my nut in to wait a day more than necessary for something like that :)

I agree. Guitars always come first.

But, I still believe that the amp is responsible for pretty much 90% of how you sound. eg. A £4000 Les Paul sounds as sh!t as a £50 squier on a 10w transister amp.

True, but how a guitar feels has a huge effect on how you play it and you'll frequently play it through other amps. It's rare you really get to crank your own amp as it ought to be cranked.

Has anyone heard a Nomad yet?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

TBH, I'm insanely happy with the feel of my LTD. That's why I got a new amp and effects instead of a guitar.

Although, by the time that stuff gets here, I'll probably have enough for some purchases from Chris :D

    Hmm... Fair enough.
I've also been considering just sticking a deposit on the Nomad instead of busting my chops trying to get hold of the money asap.
    Makes sense methinks.
