Got lucky that Stormers threw a dodgy forward pass. We were all over the place defensively after Frawley threw that awful intercepted pass.

Our wingers' defence is the one bright spot here.

    Another lineout misfire.

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 36,219 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

    Is that 0% lineout success?

Edit: forgot they managed to pull off a short one to the prop.

Leinster don't have a lineout. Terrible first half and we're blessed to be just 6 points behind at half time.

Some players are doing well individually. Happy with how TO'B is going. Prendergast has kicked well also. But forwards getting muched.

Fair Play Leinster to be still in it no lineout or scrum and defending for most of the half. If Stormers score nerxt this could get ugly

    Another silly penalty.

They're trying to emulate the Doris barge at the ruck, but the latter is far more subtle at it when he's illegal.

Disastrous start to the second half. Forwards haven't been in it and the backs are taking risks to try and spark something off of no platform.

Looked like a knock on before that try from the prendergast kick

    Game over.

Leinster can't buy a lineout success.

McGrath is ail standard these days. Sam P far too casual.

This could be ugly. It's like they haven't practised together at times. Line out woes continue...

Deeny, Mangan not at this level.

Penny utterly anonymous. Really has not progressed one iota in recent seasons.

Think we might need Spicer to progress. Deeny and Mangan really struggling

    Incredible break by TOB wasted.

Sums up Leinster's game tbf. A lovely transition attack with a try blown from a bad pass.

I don't mind that at all by Paddy Mccarthy. Leinster has been very timid.

Ref letting the Stormers push early every time

    100%.

It’s the problem I have with McGrath as captain. By all accounts he is meant to be an absolute gentleman but I don’t think that should translate onto the field. Too nice and friendly to referees and the opposition.

Disappointed by this performance. Nobody has played particularly well, but the forwards have been the biggest issue. They're losing the majority of contacts and the set piece hasn't functioned. The backs have been given nothing to work with.

In the provincial thread we were talking about how Leinster would fare coming into the season with just one warm up match under their belts. Vary badly as it turns out.

we are getting absolutely nothing in this match, good lord. Every 2nd min the ref is blowing us up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,864 ✭✭✭KaneToad

McCarthy was a bit ambitious with that off load

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 12,684 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

Harry will be off here probably

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,135 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

TO'B has been good tbf. Looks threatening in attack and is flattening lads in the tackle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 12,684 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

don't agree with that. Harry's impact should've been a mitigating factor

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,864 ✭✭✭KaneToad

Byrne should have had yellow. Not O'Brien

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 9,070 ✭✭✭fitz

Think his action warranted a penalty, but I'm a bit baffled by TOB getting carded for that. Ref said he was upright, which he wasn't at all, he was on target to hit midriff, and Byrnes intervention lowered the height of the tackled player. Yellow was harsh, imo.

Boy was I wrong coming into this match.

Only started watching from second half. Whats going on with Leinster? Scrums a mess. Line outs a mess. Cant field a high ball. Discipline gone. Seems they got on the wrong side of the ref and he only has 1 arm now. Playing the Bulls next too. Cant be happier as a Stormers supporter with this opening game.

This is an absolutely unacceptable performance. There's no excuses about coaches not being in situ for preseason. Set piece is a tragicomedy, forwards are flat as 5 day old 7up

I wish the Tg4 lads would take a breath. Talking over ref and tmo at every turn.

Pathetic performance from Leinster. Lucky to be only 35 behind
