Hello all. With boards at risk of closing (sadly it's looking increasingly likely that it will), I want to say a big goodbye to all. I discovered the weather forums on boards in 2010, the year of the famous cold spell. Since then, there's rarely a day that I don't check in just to see if anything exciting is happening with the weather.

Like so many others over the years, I have experienced first hand the wrath of the clique. A small number of users who felt that they were in charge and woe betide anyone who disagreed with them or challenged them. Many decent users were banned. I have been banned many times, indeed my previous aliases include Fraxinus, sligosnowlover, littleoldme, snowlover etc etc. But I have always been here. Under various names. And when I look back over the years, my banishments were unnecessary and mmean. And never once did I insult or offended anyone.

But this is not the time for feeling bitter. Its a time to say goodbye and a genuine thank you to the decent users who are in the majority.

Well apparently we won't need to worry about this in the short term, an announcement was posted (on 30 Oct but I just noticed it today) from Boards management saying they were now able to continue on for at least the next year, but would need to make the subscription model more permanent for longer viability. So as you were, and just in case that proves to be contradicted by events, you know where to look for the weather forum people in any event.
