Was there one early in the season where it didn't hit anyone after KDB and Haaland scored and didn't get an assist? Or am I dreaming that?

I think that's a good change but still a bit black and white. If someone is trying to find someone and they get it and score then it should be an assist but I guess interpretation would be involved there on occasion adding another layer...

    More transfers during AFCON too.

Everyone will be topped up to 5 transfers in GW16.

    It's genuinely a bit farcical.

The changes are literally just to keep idiots and children engaged.

That's a joke. If you roll over your transfers, you could have 5 to use in GW15. Then you'll be topped back up to five again the following week. Ridiculous.

The extra free transfers don’t bother me but the move to data/analytics/ really bothers me.

You can’t really watch a game and use the eye test anymore. Those new 2 points that players can be awarded are all stats driven.

    Price reveals have started.

    Isak - 10.5

    Pickford - 5.5

    RAN - 6.0

RAN at 6 is ridiculous. An easy no.

    Wirtz at 8.5.

He the only left back at City , Pep with Rotation but he literally the only LB at the club , I ll be rolling the dice with him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,232 ✭✭✭caviardreams

Grateful not to have the dilemma of squeezing TAA in vs going for all rotating cheapies in defence!

Wirtz could be great value there but will be a wait and see for me - still time enough to get him in after a couple of weeks even with a slight price rise and if he blanks the 1st 2 weeks lots may offload quickly in panic

This must be the latest that the FPL game has ever launched is it? Less than 4 weeks to go, and I presume it will be another couple of days before it goes live.

I think that having the mystery chip last year (eventually unveiled as the assistant manager chip), was a big turning point.

While that chip in itself was some bit interesting, to actually have a chip in the game for 6 months, but not reveal its purpose until halfway through the season was mad stuff. If every person who played this game was just playing it for fun, you'd say fair enough. That chip adds a bit of random element. When everyone, including those in FPL towers, are involved in money leagues though, it was a ludicrous decision regards the mystery chip.

I will say though that I welcome any tidying up of the old assist rule. It was comically bad up to now.

    Bowen is dead to me.

How very odd. Would it not be the case that in that list, most would consider Gakpo and Bowen to play in the exact same position? Forget about right/left, both are just wide forwards.

In essence, shouldn't all of these wide forwards the just be classified as forwards or all as midfielders?

I was sure O'Reilly was an attacking midfielder but apparently I was wrong and he's been a defender all along

Shame about Bowen. Had planned on starting with him but now will probably never own him this season. Moronic decision.

You still have to pick 3 Forwards. Since nearly everyone else is classified as a Midfielder, you might still need to pick him.

I'd love to see a scenario where you break the forwards down into wide forwards and centre forward categories. Maybe even do the same at the back with centre backs and full backs.

For example, you cannot play 4 attacking full backs in your FPL starting 11, which is obviously something you can currently do.

Don't ask me how you fix the formation side of it around that, but I think it would add a real extra dimension to the game in terms of difficulty selecting a squad and then starting 11. Probably easiest way would be to have a bigger squad size than 15.

I'd be against that because I think adds more complication to the game but with the way they've been going with the changes I can see this happening pretty soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,634 ✭✭✭Mr Crispy

    Salah - 14.5

    Haaland - 14.0

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 13,904 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

Salah is the most expensive player ever so. I can't see too many having both him and the robot.

Think Haaland was 15.0 last season or season before?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42 MONarmy

It definitely adds complication, but a good complication imo. It would mean way more variables, resulting in far fewer template teams across the game (which we all see happen every season after a few months).

All the additional chips add a different kind of complication, one that kids and people not wanting to think too much about the game enjoy. There's so many chips now, it's like being a kid in a candy store!

Is that true about the extra transfers around African Cup of Nations time? That's a mad decision altogether.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,323 ✭✭✭✭Scorpion Sting

I agree with the template point alright. That would combat how template teams become after a few weeks.

Yeah the AFCON extra transfers is some spoonfeeding on their part.

Agree - everything takes about 10 clicks to select, apply, reset etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,543 ✭✭✭doc_17

I’m not sure if engagement levels will be any different due to these changes. The people that give up are when they have a crap rank are still going to give up because they have a crap rank. These changes basically kill the cup comp as well due to the amount of chips active.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,232 ✭✭✭caviardreams

How do we think the CWC is going to affect Chelsea players? Slow start / fast start / more rotation?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,609 ✭✭✭fplfan12345

How can you make something worse without actually trying to do so ?

How can they get it so wrong ? The website is appalling. Again, how do you go about making something worse than it already is ? It takes considerable effort or just plain stupidity.
