Are asexuals 'fake oppressed'? **Mod Note in Post #221**

The only person trying to draw attention here, is JK Rowling. As far as I am concerned, there isn't a hell hot enough for that person to burn in.

Look again at the post she retweeted, without her nasty comments.

    image.png

Its quite obvious that this day of awareness was aimed at asexual people or people who might be questioning if they are asexual, and was reaching out to to offer support to them. It was not "pushing" anything on anyone else.

If in turn, someone wants to somehow twist that into "why are they pushing this in MY face" well, they're just as far up their own backsides as JK Rowling is up hers. So full of their own self-importance that they think everything must be about them.

Ironically, the only person pushing anything in your face here, is JK Rowling.

"there isn't a hell hot enough for that person to burn in".

    Quite deranged. Why?

Then I'm afraid literal doesn't mean what you think it means.
Unless you have your own personal version of the English language, describing her tweet as a literal attempt to silence people is demonstratable nonsense. If anything, one could very well argue that she literally tried to get people stirred up. Posting any kind of viewpoint on twitter or whatever it's called now, especially by someone that causes such pearl-clutching hysteria among a certain cohort as she does, is the literal opposite of an attempt to silence. Just look at the number of posts in this thread, not to mention on twitter, for evidence of how utterly wrong your statement is.

Yes she is quite deranged, and a hate-monger as well. I hope karma catches up with her one day, in a big way.

That post sounds, well, a little bit deranged and hate-mongering……

I knew you wouldn't answer my question - because you can't. She hasn't said anything wrong. Saying there isn't a hell hot enough for someone who says gender doesn't make a man a woman/vice versa, and male adults shouldn't be in women's prisons/sports... that's the bullying.

Some don't like what she says (because they need affirmation) but that doesn't make it untrue or bigoted.

In your opinion, she has "said" nothing wrong.

In my opinion, JK Rowling is a TERF, a bigot, and a hate-monger who deserves to burn in hell.

My opinion is not for changing, and I suspect yours isn't either, so I am not going to be drawn any further than that.

But nobody is special. We’re running out of days at this stage.

But you won't say what she said or did that deserves "burning in hell" (ffs). It's just not liking what she says but it's not incorrect. India Willoughby - now that's a nasty, spiteful individual who spouts lie after lie (but still doesn't deserve to burn in hell because that's the kinda thing only suitable for Hitler or Saddam and the like) however the crazed haters of Rowling of course approve of the bully Willoughby.

Rowling spoke out against nonsense like "people who menstruate" - got ludicrous flak for it, tried to explain that she doesn't give a damn that there are gender non conforming people, and got a torrent of abuse. Including death threats and rape threats - but she's the one who should burn in hell. So yeah she gets snarky with people who are so abusive, and she speaks out against the obscenity of convicted sex offenders being referred to with she and her, which isn't bigotry - it's correct and right.

Those who jump on the hating bandwagon because someone said so, maybe actually look into what she says and does properly. Especially if you think you're open-minded. And listen to the podcast The Witch Trials of JK Rowling. Obviously some folk here won't - we all know who those bullying (or emotionally biased and stubborn) types are - but those who are a bit more level-headed and open minded and willing to have their views challenged, but who have been suckered onto the bandwagon, take a listen.

So is it a physical thing like non existing sex drive(hormone levels) or the mental side of having an attraction to another person.

Those who jump on the hating bandwagon because someone said so, maybe actually look into what she says and does properly.

Her tweet were clearly the actions of a bullying díck.

You can acknowledge that reality and still support or at least support her "right" to be an asshóle.

But she is being a fúcking asshóle that is undeniable.

It would be trait not uncommon in people with "new money". The ladder can't be pulled up fast enough but they have no problem leaning into their background when it suits their bigotry.

It's all very boring, I imagine with her the mask will slip further as she grapples to keep the attention of her followers.

It literally DOES mean what I think it means.

Rowling's post, followed as always, by the turning of her loyal mob of goons on the same target, was a literal attempt to silence anyone that doesn't concur with her world view, and put fear into the hearts of anyone considering sticking their head above the parapet in future.

And when this is pointed out, she (and her loyal mob of goons) come out with the 'you can't silence me' but leave out the 'when I'm trying to silence others' bit.

I don't owe you any explanation of my opinions, or how I came to form them, but don't make the mistake of assuming that because my opinions don't align with yours, that mine must be uninformed.

I decided long ago not to waste my time or efforts on those who already had their minds made up. Please do me the same courtesy.

    So you believe in hell?

    You must be religious.

JK Rowling identifies as a Christian and has stated that Christianity was a major inspiration for the Harry Potter series.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,221 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

I'm not sure why that's particularly relevant. Christian denominations all have varying stances on everything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,779 ✭✭✭George White

As someone has been silenced myself, because I did an article on trans women and I put in a joke saying I was simultaneously influenced by Graham Linehan and Jane Schoenbrun (a trans filmmaker), andthey freaked out and axed the article.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 111 ✭✭Mattyonthepatty

It's just the mentioned poster brought Hell in to the conversation in at least 2 posts without anyone else mentioning anything about religion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,586 ✭✭✭✭Boggles

    Who freaked out, the editor?

    Can you post the essay?

I said "a hell". Many people have their own idea of what their own personal hell is, but let's not go down that stripper pole.

Couldn't tell you anything about the Harry Potter universe, I've never read any of them (and never will).

I've also found that its quite common amongst those who declare themselves as christian tend to be the most un-christian like of all, so Rowling "identifying" (interesting choice of word) as such, doesn't surprise me at all.

There is a lot of common phrases with the word Hell in them, it doesn't mean the person who uses them is religious.

    • all hell breaks loose.
    • as hell.
    • a snowball's chance in hell.
    • bloody hell.
    • catch hell.
    • come hell or high water.
    • for the hell of it.
    • give (someone) hell.

    Etc.

You're utterly wrong and we both know it.

There are more than 9,000 replies to that post, a great many of them threatening and abusing Rowling.

There are more than 22,000 retweets, again, many with very vocal responses as to what should or will be done to Rowling for daring to express her opinion.

There are countless thousands more tweets, and posts on other social media platforms, discussing the post, and yet again, threatening Rowling.

You are, by any measure one could care to try, wrong. Literally wrong. Nobody has been silenced. The loudest, maddest, nastiest loons one could hope to come across are getting their voices heard loud and clear.

Nobody, literally nobody, has been silenced, nor has any attempt been made to do so.

Just because somebody you hate got to speak, doesn't mean you were silenced. Literally.

"I've made up my own mind but I don't converse with others that have done the same because what's the point. Anyone who doesn't believe what I believe should burn in hell"

    So tolerant, so brave.

    Compare that with:

"Everyone should be free to do what they want as long as it is legal, but a day of recognition for people who aren't interested in sex is a little silly".

    Bigot!!!!!

You and a number of the others are the only people equating it.

No one would suggest world autism awareness day and international pillow fight day, which fall on the same day, are equally significant just becasue they both have a day.

What does it matter to you who does and doesn't have an awareness day. If it doesnt impact you, ignore it and move on

  • Site Banned Posts: 1,331 ✭✭✭Yvonne007

In much the same way the people who pretend to be progressive and tolerant are almost always the most regressive and intolerant people I have had the misfortune of listening to.

Plenty of information out there if you'd like to do some research.

Best to do it for yourself, but if you do, please use medically peer reviewed sources.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,479 ✭✭✭crusd

Another one who identifies as Christian but doesn't act it.

  • Site Banned Posts: 1,331 ✭✭✭Yvonne007

Because i find it silly and think that in a thread about it, my opinion is valid.

I didn't seek out this thread, nor did I create it. It popped up on the home page and piqued my interest slightly and gave my opinion.

I am not on a crusade to have it abolished but rather I am giving my honest and frank opinion.

But like clockwork, the same familiar names are telling me to either ignore it or that I am a bigot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,479 ✭✭✭crusd

The is a deep seated narcissism behind it. Everything is either about them or for them and their opinion is all that matters.

They could never consider something as having absolutely no relevance to them

I don't know that she's Christian? Thought she'd be atheist or agnostic.

She's a liberal. Left leaning on most issues - but just won't pander to lies. No matter how much people say she's horrible and bigoted (yet cannot explain why, because they're too blinded by emotion or don't think for themselves).
