I'm well awake in cork. Sounded worse in the last hour. Unreal wind. Worse than ophelia for me.

Power gone in Malahide, tree down on Kettles lane was driving home from city centre at 5am and could see blue flashes in the sky from power lines going down, scary stuff

Coastal North Dublin/East Meath South West facing. We are well used to wind. My bedroom in dormer roof and sleep is impossible now. No idea how we still have power. I've filled the thermos just in case. I've already heard glass breaking and tiles falling somewhere in the estate & by the sounds of it several shed doors have come loose - worse to come for those owners who will be lucky to hold onto them.

Several businesses in the area said they intended to open at 9am this morning, I really hope they don't. This is the worst I can remember.

According to the Met Eireann site (admittedly not updated since yesterday), the worst is yet to come.

No it’s not, do yourself a favour and stop quoting met outdated forecast. Dublin is in it for over an hour now, 3 to go …

In Meath and it seemed to be worse between 3:30 - 4:30 or so. It’s actually calmed down a bit now. Mind you, we just started our Red warning 1 min ago.

    Slates survived thankfully.

Only one tree down in Garden and children’s playhouse is upside down in the ditch.

No power, but I’m very thankful.

Nearly 600,000 homes without power. Crazy. Luckily still have power here in meath, but I'd say it'll be many day before everyone is back up.

Meath Westmeath border here wind roaring like thunder the noise is crazy it’s like a flag blowing only on a massive scale . Light in ceiling actually swinging. We’re only 10 minutes into red warning area but seems it cake 4 hours early

North Galway here. I’d say the of the sustained wind was before 5 and the worst gustsin the last hour. Lost a couple of tiles I’d say. Miraculously still have power.

Morning Ireland on from 6am this morning. Hopefully no more whimsical RTE crap about swimmers in Salthill.

Can only go on the official information given (front page of the website too). I'm sure it'll be updated as the morning goes on.

SW Laois, our red warning started at 6am and right on cue the power went. Internet went around 4am

Seems to be easing off here in Castlebar in the sustained winds. Worst seemed to be around 4 to 6. Lost power. That's a first since moved we into the new house.

It has been oddly comforting knowing I'm not the only one awake through this!! Power gone over an hour here I'd say. Fence obliterated. Lots of other banging the last few mins but can't see a thing outside. My whole house is rattling.

At least 560,000 customers are without power this morning, according to ESB Networks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,252 ✭✭✭✭_Kaiser_

Lovely. Portlaoise here so it'll probably happen here shortly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 246 ✭✭Ros4Sam24

Has quietened down the last 20 mins in north Ros, peak is expected here before 7am so wouldn’t be surprised with a big pick up soon

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 250 ✭✭Condor24

Still ferocious here in North Offaly. I am exhausted but I won't rest until this has died down a bit. No sign yet.

Just got some lightning here in North Dublin City. I think the wind was at its worst about an hour ago.

SW Dublin, sudden mad gust! The house made a creaking noise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,462 ✭✭✭landofthetree

If windy.com is accurate the peak started around 5am instead of 6am.

Just let the cat out, the one my wife ‘surprised’ me with.
