You’ve got to use that of a friend or family member. No debit cards from the Republic. No way around that.

An Irish debit card worked for me last year when paying the deposit and again paying the full amount.

Didn’t work for me in 2022. Expressly stated on See Tickets that no debit cards. You can take a chance but if you run into an issue when paying you could end up being bumped off the page. Not a risk I’d take.

    Yeah, big risk

New queuing system now for tickets I see.

Think it will increase the demand as the persistence of refreshing no longer required.

The shock when at 9.00.01am you see "There are 2 million people ahead of you in the queue"

I'll try again, knowing it won't happen, but hopeful all the same

    BM

Registered and going to attempt to get tickets. Never been before but have always said I'd go at some stage.

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but I assume the coach tickets are the best ones to go for? Fly into Bristol and then a coach from there to the site?

If I didn't get a coach ticket, what are the other options for getting to the festival from Bristol airport?

After a year off last year..

.. yeah, I might try and get back this year.

You can try for Coach & Ticket combo (choose Bristol or another location) on Thurs 14/11.

If unsuccessful you can try for ticket only in main the general sale 17/11.

There are standard national express buses from Bristol too(book on their website) so you would not necessary need to taxi.

Bus from airport is often tied to the ticket but, if you do get a ticket then there are plenty of buses from Bristol bus station to Glastonbury. Have used both options myself. Both drop off at the same bus stop and take same route etc.

If you get a Glastonbury ticket you WILL be able to get bus there. Years ago taxi used to be able to drop at bus stop there but not for years. Use to be handy if you had a few people and were willing to throw driver a few extra quid and stop in the Tesco on way for booze/food. Ah, the good old days.

TLDR: sweat about getting festival tickets and not bus. You'll get there if you get a ticket

When I got a bus ticket it was from Manchester and you got collected at the Trafford Centre. The whole point of the bus tickets is to reduce traffic converging on the area, the driver dished out the tickets on the bus when we got on.

It was 2010 and we had about a 5 hour bus journey with England getting pumped 4-1 by Germany on the radio, surrounded by English people 😋

In the unlikely event we do get tickets what's peoples advice on getting there. Was looking at ferrys which would be handy for bringing camping gear and tents etc but they are 250e odd per person. Flying much cheaper but cant' really bring gear. Are the glamping options generally extortionate? Did a festival in Poland once but can't remember what we did. Did one in Belguim but just bought a tent in the city beforehand and travelled very, very light

Just had a quick peek there and a 2 man in Tangerine fields is about 3 and a half times what it costs for the same Tangerine fields tent at Green Man or EOTR. Weird. What's the deal there? It's only a day longer.

I just pay the extra money for 20kg check in luggage. Can easily fit a two man tent, sleeping bag, mattress and some clothes in there and some other stuff as carry on.

Can't say I'm a fan. Basically a complete lottery and no reward for refreshing repeatedly or trying to organise multiple devices/people. Just log onto the website ten minutes before and by 9:01 you'll probably know if you're getting a ticket or not.

Probably a vastly different crowd make-up going forward too.

Really, isn’t it always a lottery? The planing with different groups has sometimes worked, more often not. Random luck on one or other of us getting through.

And it’s pretty much the same people trying every year so I can’t see much change in the demographics. Best of luck next week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,716 ✭✭✭TheIrishGrover

Yeah, for the last 10 years or so it's pretty much been a lottery. Before people would have their strategies: Multiple browsers, some via phone hotspot, different regions, VPNs, some refreshing and some not.... Whether any of them worked is debatable.

I don't know how I feel about this change. I always say there should NOT be a loyalty system as I believe in everyone having a chance to go for their first time. I still feel that way, even as it makes it harder to get tickets (have been 10 times myself).

Well, good luck next week everyone

I fully agree. I've been 8 times, the last in 2022. I'd be happy to be excluded until 2030/2032 if I was guaranteed a ticket then.

And also the multiple devices/large grooups sometimes worked, sometimes didn't. It's all pretty random.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,624 ✭✭✭Wooderson

It is fairly random but the same people go every year. This year may change that.

I’m going to try to get a ticket, registered during the summer.

Thinking of getting a general admission ticket and hire a campervan and park up on site .

I see tickets for car park and camper van park dont go on sale until April .

Much downsides to doing it this way versus ticket and coach and camping ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,888 ✭✭✭Alkers

You mean the proper campervan parking? The only disadvantage is the walk is longer to the campervan site. Well worth it in my book for shower, fridge, comfy bed etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,771 ✭✭✭✭The Nal

Depends on what level of comfort you want. As above, the walk can be a ballache. I started out going in a camper but have tented it for the last 10 years or so. Less is more. I like being closer to things.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,236 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Majority of the time I've done camper.

It's fine but it's best to pretty much need to accept "once you're in for the day, you're in".. bring a bag with extra cans and a jumper / jacket and put it in lockup for collection later in the day.

Even in CV East walking from Theatre & Circus, you'll end up spending pretty much the guts of an hour walking back and forth to camper up a steep hill.

I’ve seen an off-site campervan park that is a 15 minute walk to the main gate and while it is expensive its small enough with all the amenities like toilets showers bar and food truck etc ,I’ve never been to Glastonbury but ill try again this year for tickets and if im successful id probably go for that site, what would you think of a place like that over the Glastonbury campervan parking?

I'm pretty certain there's no off-site campervan park within 30 mins walk of the main gate. And from the main gate it's circa 15-20 mins to the Pyramid stage and further to the rest (bar Woodsies). Go for the internal campervan sites if you can.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 341 ✭✭nomoedoe

This place is 15 mins walk to gate D i thought it said the main gate when i looked at it last

"15 minute walk to the main gate" comes with reservations.

It could be a 15 or 20 minute walk from the entrance to the camper park to your campervan.

And say you want to go to the Woodsies stage or the Park from the Glastonbury main gate - that could be a 20/25 minute walk from gate B for example. So you could be looking at close to an hours walk. And an hour back obviously.
