Hopefully be lucky enough to get tickets, my first time trying. Any tips welcome lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,476 ✭✭✭Still Ill

Firstly, make sure you and anyone else who you're planning on going with have registered.

Have everyone's registration number and postcode written in a spreadsheet ready to copy and paste. If you're lucky enough to get through, you want to be able to put in the details as quickly as possible.

As far as I know, international debit cards aren't accepted, so if you don't have a British debit card, you'll need a credit card to purchase tickets.

It goes without saying that the more people you have trying for you, the better chance you have of getting in.

    Best of luck!

I know, I know, but I'll ask anyway, any headliner rumors?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,628 ✭✭✭StrawbsM

First time tryer here too. Didn’t know that about debit card. Is it the same if you use revolut? Have registration for myself and husband already sorted

Our plan, if we get tickets, is to bring our caravan with us. Do we purchase standard ticket and then have an option to book caravan pitch?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24 Bazmataz85

Thanks mate, I didn't know about the credit card tip, thank you.

Only two of us going so far but that might change, I've been told groups of six do have more success getting tkts, is that correct?

Also, would you try get a tkt on the coach sale or hold out until the general sale?

    O-Rod seems likely.

People talking about Fred Again for the Saturday but I don't see it. If it is, it'll be one of those in 5 years looking back where people are like WTF.

Yeah you'll need festival tickets and then the campervan tickets go on sale a couple of weeks later.

Only issue with staying in the campervan fields is that you can be put miles away. 25 minute walk to the festival entrance type of thing. Or you might get lucky and its only a 5 minute walk.

    Will try again….

Current success rate: 14% 1 out of 7 (I think)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24 Bazmataz85

Can I ask, have you tried in groups of six all them times?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,740 ✭✭✭ILikeBoats

    No we haven't

I'd say four times we've been a group of 4

    Three times as a couple

    I think

FIrst year we tried was 2015 as a foursome and that was when we got tickets

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,316 ✭✭✭Seathrun66

Correct regarding a group of six, or two groups of six, etc. That's how many tickets you're allowed to book (or was up to the last sale though some changes were mooted for 2025). However you'd need to be VERY strict with people if they're in a group with you. Very basic stuff but there always someone who forgot to register or tried to use their Irish debit card (credit card only from the Republic) or took down the wrong registration/Eircode details or got trashed on the Saturday and woke up two hours after the sale ended. Don't get into a group with someone unreliable, they could cost you a ticket to the event. Sadly that describes loads of my friends. 😁

The info is below. Maybe tag it to your first post @Furious-Red so the same questions don't get asked every couple of days?

Coach sale supposedly easier but that's anecdotal and I've only used it once. Unless UK-based you'll almost certainly be flying into Bristol so getting a coach from either the airport or city is recommended. Before trying for the sale you'll need to have worked out flight times and have a clear idea of what coach you want to get as you'll be picking an exact time of departure for the festival. You cannot get the combination and then decide not to use that coach. Tickets are handed out during the journey. Best of luck everyone.

    @rubick @desk tidy @darzog Lets be havin' ye……..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,265 ✭✭✭✭The Nal

You can "miss" the coach and collect the tickets at the box office at Gate A where the driver leaves them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,316 ✭✭✭Seathrun66

That's taking a risk, and at the very least setting yourself up for a lot of stress and lengthy queues. Not recommended.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,476 ✭✭✭Still Ill

Won't be trying for tickets as none of my friends have any interest in going, but think I might have priority volunteering for bar work after completing all my shifts successfully this year. Would way rather go solo as a volunteer than as a punter. So much easier to meet people to hang around with that way. There's not many acts I'm into that I haven't seen before anyway, so happy to just work whatever shifts I'm given and not be too stressed about missing anyone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,265 ✭✭✭✭The Nal

Its not ideal sure but theres no risk with not getting your ticket. You're just in the lap of the traffic gods. I did it once, by necessity and the driver gave me my ticket when the bus arrived. I waited around for about an hour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,220 ✭✭✭Wooderson

In 2022 we "waiting for our tickets" from the coach for 5 hours. A mess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,316 ✭✭✭Seathrun66

A lot of bad stories around from people who've taken this chance. You get to the festival gate and then wait around for (possibly) several hours for a bus or trying the ticket office which may or may not have the ticket. Too much stress to start a festival. That time can be spent getting camped and having the first beer. I want my ticket in hand before setting off.

So do I. Wouldnt recommend it. Just pointing out theres no risk to your ticket.

Will try get a ticket this year. Would it be too late getting there Thursday evening or Friday morning? Don't finish work till Wednesday…That is in the unlikely event I get a ticket

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,316 ✭✭✭Seathrun66

No, but you'd probably need someone to set up a tent for you. If not head to the Pylon Field which never seems to be as busy as the other camping sites. Many avoid it but I enjoyed staying there. Close to Woodsies, the Other Stage, Silver Hayes, etc.

Oxylers is for me (16 visits) the v worst place to camp on site.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,265 ✭✭✭✭The Nal

It stinks of human piss and sh1t and cow dung.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,316 ✭✭✭Seathrun66

Camped there in 1999 and very mellow. Went back in 2011 and carnage. A younger crowd who didn't fancy doing much walking (ironic that those of more advanced years and dodgy knees don't mind doing more walking than the youth) and nitrous oxide canisters everywhere. Worsens year by year. To be avoided.

I'd initiate a conversation on where to camp next June but I don't want to jinx my chances of tickets.

This year our SeeTickets coach (12.30pm, Bristol) was 3 hours late, took 4 hours to get to Pedestrian Gate A. Roadworks at Temple Meads roundabout ruined arrival. Weren't on site until about 6pm. Saw a few heads in the coach queue opt for taxis and picking the ticket up. If their ticket was on the coach, wonder how long they had to wait. Or if taxis would even run the trip in such bad traffic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,220 ✭✭✭Wooderson

Think its luck of the draw. Some drivers are better than others. We had people checking for the guts of 4 hours for us after the coach had apparently arrived. The festival doesnt really have a firm process for it - understandably.

Not sure if I can put myself through the stress of trying again this year. But will wait and see

What's the work around for the people without a visa card?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,316 ✭✭✭Seathrun66

You’ve got to use that of a friend or family member. No debit cards from the Republic. No way around that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34 jordo333

An Irish debit card worked for me last year when paying the deposit and again paying the full amount.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,316 ✭✭✭Seathrun66

Didn’t work for me in 2022. Expressly stated on See Tickets that no debit cards. You can take a chance but if you run into an issue when paying you could end up being bumped off the page. Not a risk I’d take.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,740 ✭✭✭ILikeBoats

    Yeah, big risk

New queuing system now for tickets I see.

Think it will increase the demand as the persistence of refreshing no longer required.

The shock when at 9.00.01am you see "There are 2 million people ahead of you in the queue"

I'll try again, knowing it won't happen, but hopeful all the same

    BM

Registered and going to attempt to get tickets. Never been before but have always said I'd go at some stage.

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but I assume the coach tickets are the best ones to go for? Fly into Bristol and then a coach from there to the site?

If I didn't get a coach ticket, what are the other options for getting to the festival from Bristol airport?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,195 ✭✭✭✭Basq

After a year off last year..

.. yeah, I might try and get back this year.

You can try for Coach & Ticket combo (choose Bristol or another location) on Thurs 14/11.

If unsuccessful you can try for ticket only in main the general sale 17/11.

There are standard national express buses from Bristol too(book on their website) so you would not necessary need to taxi.

Bus from airport is often tied to the ticket but, if you do get a ticket then there are plenty of buses from Bristol bus station to Glastonbury. Have used both options myself. Both drop off at the same bus stop and take same route etc.

If you get a Glastonbury ticket you WILL be able to get bus there. Years ago taxi used to be able to drop at bus stop there but not for years. Use to be handy if you had a few people and were willing to throw driver a few extra quid and stop in the Tesco on way for booze/food. Ah, the good old days.

TLDR: sweat about getting festival tickets and not bus. You'll get there if you get a ticket

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,588 ✭✭✭2ndcoming

When I got a bus ticket it was from Manchester and you got collected at the Trafford Centre. The whole point of the bus tickets is to reduce traffic converging on the area, the driver dished out the tickets on the bus when we got on.

It was 2010 and we had about a 5 hour bus journey with England getting pumped 4-1 by Germany on the radio, surrounded by English people 😋

In the unlikely event we do get tickets what's peoples advice on getting there. Was looking at ferrys which would be handy for bringing camping gear and tents etc but they are 250e odd per person. Flying much cheaper but cant' really bring gear. Are the glamping options generally extortionate? Did a festival in Poland once but can't remember what we did. Did one in Belguim but just bought a tent in the city beforehand and travelled very, very light

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,145 ✭✭✭Stillill42

Just had a quick peek there and a 2 man in Tangerine fields is about 3 and a half times what it costs for the same Tangerine fields tent at Green Man or EOTR. Weird. What's the deal there? It's only a day longer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,476 ✭✭✭Still Ill

I just pay the extra money for 20kg check in luggage. Can easily fit a two man tent, sleeping bag, mattress and some clothes in there and some other stuff as carry on.

Can't say I'm a fan. Basically a complete lottery and no reward for refreshing repeatedly or trying to organise multiple devices/people. Just log onto the website ten minutes before and by 9:01 you'll probably know if you're getting a ticket or not.

Probably a vastly different crowd make-up going forward too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,316 ✭✭✭Seathrun66

Really, isn’t it always a lottery? The planing with different groups has sometimes worked, more often not. Random luck on one or other of us getting through.

And it’s pretty much the same people trying every year so I can’t see much change in the demographics. Best of luck next week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,217 ✭✭✭TheIrishGrover

Yeah, for the last 10 years or so it's pretty much been a lottery. Before people would have their strategies: Multiple browsers, some via phone hotspot, different regions, VPNs, some refreshing and some not.... Whether any of them worked is debatable.

I don't know how I feel about this change. I always say there should NOT be a loyalty system as I believe in everyone having a chance to go for their first time. I still feel that way, even as it makes it harder to get tickets (have been 10 times myself).

Well, good luck next week everyone
