I didn't get it as the price of the postage put me off.

I would have loved to have one.

Yeah same at the time. Now I can't get as far as shipping options. I'll try again on PC later. Might sort it.

The first time it happened, yeah it was a bit annoying because I didn't know it was a secret exit and was only halfway through the level. But then after the first time, I figured okay, if I find a secret exit I'll finish the rest of the level then double back to the secret exit instead of the main exit. It's usually not that bad.

About 160 bots in so will probably slow it down now and play in small doses, but its genuinely great stuff. Bit on the easy side, but id like to think its probably more of at a welcome level to all ages, always allowing the fun nature to come through. Obviously harder bits are in there, like the little runs after the Lost Circle levels etc. Knocked it out of the park in the main, and polished to a sheen that some glitch in scenery is very few and far between.

    Over to you Nintendo

So played around 2/3 hours. It's more Astro so that's a wonderful thing. As most said it's on the very very easy side so hopefully we get some proper tough levels as ability tests. I do think the soundtrack is lacking after the amazing one in the demo.

You can see where it gets the vast majority of its influences from but again not a bad thing, I would say Nintendo haven't a thing to worry about some of this stuff they had in games over 20 years ago.

Bloodborne in 60 fps almost makes up for recognizing Legend of Dragoon

Screw path-tracing. All I want from my graphical showcases is hundreds of discreet physics objects tossed around the place just because they can.

Yes the main levels are very easy (so far anyway) but those lost green triangle void levels are tricky enough! Nice contrast.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,396 ✭✭✭jj880

Yeah Im hoping these levels are going to be a bit trickier:

    Lost galaxy

Have about half of them found

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,943 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Those are a piece of cake compared to the triangle levels. I defy anyone to complete the below level in under 10 tries. I must be on twenty deaths so far but it’s so bloody addictive! The catchy music helps too. 😁

    Fragile Frenzy

Edit: Finally got it! And I have no idea who the rescued bot is. 😂

Yeah the triangle levels are the first real challenge I’ve come across. All surmountable but definitely a fair bit trickier than anything else.

    The bot is…

    … Aigis from Persona 3!

Cheers JU, not played that game. Probably recognise about 90% of them and now I want a remaster of Ico. Loved that game.

Jesus, Team Asobi are just showing off with the levels that mess around with size and time. Spectacular stuff.

Some levels ya can go collect everything then backtrack which is handy. The ones you can't are annoying

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,608 ✭✭✭recyclops

I don't know if it's years and years of doin these type of trials or pure luck but completed that one on 2nd go the hoping the triangle levels get more difficult three I have done have Ben standard enough

Let's just say Triangle isn't the only face button on the controller.

There's some absolutely insane deepcut references in the game. Plenty from games that never got released over here like a PS1 cooking sim.

Yep breezing through them as well.

New fav, hidden bot is the kurushi bot.

Platinumed. Wasn't too far off it anyway once I'd finished the game as I'd been fairly strict on collecting everything before moving on, and I'd found a lot of the secret-type trophies just by trying to do as much as I could anyway.

Can't complain about a single thing. Just a bunch of fun the whole way through. The levels, abilities and bosses are all superbly designed. Some of the more unique levels are terrific. The way the dualsense is used is once again miles ahead of nearly every game on the PS5.

The boss and special level of world three: chef’s kiss

The funky remix of the Uncharted theme is incredible

The size level in particular, the instantaneous perspective shift with the flick of a button is marvelous.

Well that was just a bundle of fun from start to end. An extremely easy game, easier than the Lego games, but a welcome throwback to the Spyro type of game. Choc full of characters, each with their own little animations and interactions. Some really old references, and super recent ones.

Each level is a joy to see, hear play. Everything has a place and a purpose. Everything reacts. The special levels are fantastic, and really show what Astro could do in the future. One completely unexpected but fun musical throwback I thoroughly enjoyed. But they were all uniqely amazing.

Basically a full length tech demo for the PS5 again, and masterfully crafted. Even the credits were fun. Truly showed the power of the PS5 tbh, and sublime use of the DualSense which further shows how great a controller it really is.

Collecting everything was easy enough, but some of those challenge levels gave me some guff. The final one tested me. All my fault, but it by far took the longest.

Sony have a massive potential cash cow here. Not just with more of these games, but expanding into other franchises. I'd pay all the monies for an Astro version of the Lego games. And I also want to start throwing money at good quality Astro themed funko pop type things. I'll even take movies, give the licence to the lad who did Wall-E. By far the most fun Platinum I've earned. This will win all the awards.

    What a game!!!!!

I've been really apathetic about video games for the last year or two, but this game has been the perfect antidote. You can't help but smile at its creativity and charm. Yes, it's very similar to the last 2 Astro Bot games and yes it's quite easy, but the game is filled with so many clever touches and ideas that it never gets boring.

Plus, it looks incredible and it feels so finely tuned and polished. It's up there with anything Nintendo have ever done in the 3D platformer genre in my opinion, and I'm glad to see the game and developers getting the plaudits they deserve.

I love it, and I'm already starting to feel melancholic about finishing it 😅

Yeah, there's actually so much in the game you can quickly forget just how much is happening. It may not have another GPU banger, but Papa Tree had me smiling like a toddler. The reworked themes on the special levels were brilliant. Everywhere you go or look, there's something moving and reacting to the world and music. It's blowing my mind that some kids will experience this as their first proper game, it must set an awfully high bar!

There's so much to discuss in this game, but everyone needs to experience it themselves first. I didn't watch anything beyond the announce trailers and I'm so happy I didn't, because experiencing all that without prior knowledge definitely helped. It played flawless, it sounded flawless, it looked flawless, it performed flawlessly. It really is as close to perfect as one can get. I haven't played a Mario game since Galaxy so I can only assume this is what they are like, but glad to see Astro getting held up there with the granddaddy of gaming.

For anyone not sold, I recommend listening to the Digital Foundry tech review. Don't watch it, but do listen, it should sell you the game. It does remind me of why I love gaming.

Most of the ‘face button’ levels are quick 5-10 minute efforts, even though they’re a fair bit more challenging than the core levels. But that bloody lava level probably took me the best part of 20-30 mins 😅 Definitely would like more of the game to be pitched at that difficulty level, as infuriating as it can be.
