Hard to justify with Shaw,he's never been available for us. That lb position should have been sorted a long time ago instead of giving new contracts to a injury prone player.

Dalot gets abused for playing in a position that's not his own.

Dont want to be a downer now this time of year so was thinking on,

Any opinions on who we loan for the rest of the season with potential to buy?

(Seeing as we don't know if we have the funds to properly buy in Jan)

Ramos has barely played for psg. Good chance he's available for loan I guess. Might be worth a loan gamble. Muani apparently also available, another that might be worth a gamble.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,008 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

Muani for sure has been linked before, seems to be getting no game time for PSG.

Id assume neither rkm or ramos would be an answer tbh. Ramos has done nothing at psg and I think rkm was a one season not quite wonder - while also fearing the Germany to pl/United transition.

But I would imagine both are available. And I reckon psg ate a potential landing spot for Rashford. Could see something with those three, and/or nuno mendes? Or some subset. I dunno.

Rkm to replace Rashford, ramos to replace zirkzee (him being shipped feels like it's becoming more likely), and mendes for lwb? Is that possibly a realistic window to try fix some problems? If rkm or ramos were loan signings it would make it more paletable imo.

its hard to figure out your post for the last while. are you unhappy with the owners or are you a man utd fan that needs instant gratification, well unfortunately, we are taking the first steps toward open heart surgery which was pontificated nearly 3 years ago

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,211 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

Before open heart surgery they used to stabilise the patient.

I look forward to that part.

We are at the point " Ara sure, be grand in a few days time" before we need to go to the hospital 🤣

Apart from getting rid of Radcliffe and the Glazers the best thing that could be done in the short term is to focus on defending setpieces.

Onana seems like a free spirit on his own goal line, we need to liberate him to come and collect balls again. He nearly got sent off last time but he has got to take some control of the area or we are fucked at setpieces.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has had an impact at Manchester United. We're 13th in the league, cheers mate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56,089 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

You must of forgotten the numerous times he comes for the ball and either just flaps or missed it completely. The guy just dreadful on crosses, set pieces and corners.

The short term is replacing this waster in January.

jesus christ if this is the level of posting we've reached then they are better off not repairing the site. Bringing back up the fake sheikh as if that was ever something positive.

are the set pieces an onana issue or other personnel issue? like we are crap at scoring from set pieces as well which leads me to believe we are just too weak in the air (aside from casemiro who is actually pretty good).

we are just too soft, too nice. no bit of bite about the team. thats not to be confused with having players sent off. also goes hand in hand with having no leaders in the team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56,089 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

He was the same at Inter who had the meanest defense in Serie A

When you have a goal keeper that is highly unreliable, he provides no good foundation to the defense

I'm around a bit longer than you kid, but you're welcome to share your talking points from the MUFC media team.

Not impressed by anything you have said here. Is there an authentic opinion there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,008 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

Set pieces I don't think is singular, Onana was never getting to that goal for wolves first, he had 3 lads around him. In front, his side and at the back of him literally boxing him in to do nothing. I don't think the ball was intended to be a goal but driven in by Cuhna for someone to get on the end of.

Onana needs back up there by the defenders to push the wolves players off him and give him that small box to move in to react, and they could of headed the ball away first.

Onana got done by there imo

    Fisty cuffs at noon kid..

Wtf are you on about man.

if we have allison in goals, i still think we concede a **** of goals from set pieces.

we conceded 2 goals directly from corners with 2 different keepers. that to me is more than a goal keeping issue.

I'm not even sure you're a Utd fan these days. Bornetobewilde says similar stuff.

Man United supporters had no influence over the outcome of the strategic review. Going over old ground on something that concluded over a year ago and referring to it as a contest among fans, seems a bit silly to me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,809 ✭✭✭Dave0301

Why is Onana being absolved of blame for that? He should be organising the defence on corners.

Onana had a purple patch earlier this season but he has been an incredibly underwhelming goalkeeper for 50 million quid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,008 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

He comes across a silly kid.

How does someone say, I'm here longer than you on a discussion board and think I'm the **** and invalidate someone else's opinion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,782 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

"kid" 🙄 Do you think thats some sort of gotcha on a site used by people well over 25.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,475 ✭✭✭Zico

Probably best for all concerned if that's how you roll that opinion without context. There's at least two players with a future at the club. If we're thinking that far ahead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,737 ✭✭✭✭JRant

It's not absolving him of any blame to state an obvious fact that the defense isn't being set-up properly to protect the goalkeeper at set pieces. We conceded 2 goals directly from corners in the last week alone, that's before we even talk about the Arsenal fiasco.

No centre half worth their salt would allow their keeper be bullied like that by the opposition but our lads just stand by looking on like lost sheep.

I think this comes down to 2 factors for me.

    1) we are defending set pieces in a slightly different zonal scheme and some of the players are still learning it, which is leading to confusion.

    2) opposition players know they can pretty much foul our keeper at will and won't get blown for it. The Spurs goal was particularly egregious but was brushed under the carpet because it went against us. Do you think for one second either of those goals stand if it was us doing it at the other end?

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,008 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

Defenders should be clued in on what's going on.

If I'm a defender and I see 3 wolves players surrounding my GK, I react to that.

Onana is not resolved from it but he had zero help to prevent it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 670 ✭✭✭Annabella1

agreed heed to steady the ship urgently

Onana is useless in the 6 yard box and every team knows it

Looking back at schmeichel and van de sar it’s amazing what a steady goalie can do for a team

Difficult to get in January have been linked with a Belgian sanner at least he is 6 4

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,875 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

I wonder would Juve send us Milik for Zirkzee?

Granted Milik is just coming back from a knee injury but a 6 month loan (at which point Milik would be a free agent) would be generally risk free and leave us with an improved back up striker and more importantly the remaining Rashford funds to upgrade midfield.

Even if Milik is a crock we just wont make the deal permanent at the end. He can't offer much less than Zirkzee is.

The set piece defending is awful. Coaches and players share the blame for that.

However, Onana should be taking charge of his 6 yard box and instructing his CBs if needed. He doesn't command his box. De Gea used to get lambasted for it. Onana should as well.

As for point 2. If you think back to the Wolves match where Onana smashed a player on his debut, I am not sure we should be complaining about decisions against our keeper. I don't think either of the goals from the corners were a foul.
