Yes I agree he probably has no chance against the lobbyists, who Trump will probably back when it comes down to it.

It's not that proven medication and vaccines need to be replaced, it's that prevention needs to be prioritised.

Not all but some of what he says about food is valid. It's rapidly becoming true for Ireland now also. Go into your local supermarket, the overwhelming bulk of products are junk food. The large majority of products marketed as healthy are junk food. The Irish population are being poisoned now just like the US population.

You're outraged that he is stopping schools from requiring the covid vaccine. this is a vaccine that not one European country, including Ireland recommendeds giving to healthy children but you aren't outraged about that? Ok

So gonna ignore that he will be targeting vaccines and proven medications? 15,000 physicians signed a petition against his appointment because of his views. People have literally died as a result of uninformed propaganda that he's spread.

Based on how the DOGE behavior, it seems to be pretty much guaranteed that both he and Musk will make healthcare in the US worse. Let's just hope that don't have ya scenario like COVID.

If only those 15,000 physicians signed petitions against the companies and policies killing vast numbers of Americans every year then the likes of RFK would have no chance of getting a look in.

On the vaccines farce & Trump, this is all part of his dog and pony show. There are no states that require schools to mandate students and staff to be vaccinated against Covid and the number of schools in the country that do is rather low. It's just Trump trying to appeal to his dickhead fans who were typing crap about ridiculous Covid conspiracies and whatnot throughout the pandemic.

That doesn’t mean that actually defunding a school because they do have a mandate for vaccination against Covid isn't just a rat arsed scummy thing to do in the first place.

The real cause for concern here is that there was no qualification given about other required vaccinations, like polio and measles etc. And when one considers who Trump has put in charge of the nation's health, the concerns that this stupid nonsense could be expanded to include other vaccines become all the more palpable.

It's funny, you seen to be entirely uncomfortable discussing RFK's views. Basically you think it's a good idea to have a conspiracy theorist on health in charge of health. You either don't care that he does want to go after necessary medications and vaccines or maybe you even think things like autism or ADHD are caused by fast food and vaccines.

Food and the quality of it in the US is a very real issue. Still doesn't mean it makes sense to put a man in charge of health who holds nonsensical such as autism causing vaccines. RFK will be bad for US healthcare because of such views.

When knowledgeable qualified people are too coward, corrupt or just couldn't be bothered to speak the truth and do the right thing then nutters inevitably fill the vacuum.

It has taken decades of leadership failure in the US medical community to get RFK where he is today. I'm not sure RFK will last long. Then these guys signing Petitions will get back to business as usual, letting the health of the nation deteriorate.

Ireland and America is a false comparison with this, you saying things that are “healthy” are junk, any proof of that? Using language like “being poisoned” isn’t helpful here at all. It’s not also just false to say such nonsense.

As for prevention, how exactly does that happen in the US? I don’t think you understand the sheer size of that change in order for it to happen. And for prevention, beat in mind RFK jnr is on the record saying he regrets his children getting vaccinations, and you think he has prevention at heart for this?

Will he have any real power? He has the job because that was the payoff for supporting T in the election.

He may only be entertained so long as he is useful. Will he be taking real decisions?

(not that those who will will necessarily be better )

What is needed over there is likely access to proper information .If they want to have "unhealthy" diets so be it so long as they have the realistic option to have a good one if they so decide)

So you're claiming all medical professionals are corrupt? You will absolutely plenty of medical experts who has commented on diet, quality of food in the US etc. They've even published plenty of research on it. It's not some secret that they've been hiding...

RFK is a dangerous individual. You don't seem to care about the lives he's endangered. Healthcare will get worse under Trump, Musk and RFK...

Can you cite a single case of a vaccine that is made redundant as a result of "prevention" methods that you espouse?

If you talk about some treatments, then you might have credibility but once you include vaccines as part of some homogeneous grouping of medical intervention that can take a back seat to "prevention", then you clearly either have no idea what you are talking about or clearly are using obfuscation to push an anti vaccine narrative like RFK Jr also does.

genuine question; what is your background in nutrition and food or are you just quoting what you’ve seen online?

"It's not that proven medication and vaccines need to be replaced, it's that prevention needs to be prioritised."

That is literally what you said. You state prevention needs to be prioritised. I'm simply asking what preventative measure would render any vaccine redundant?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,039 ✭✭✭jackboy

Prevention needs to be prioritised, not to replace vaccines.

If you think processed food in Ireland or the EU is anything like as bad as it is in the US, you haven’t a clue

You are throwing allegations about, like the pharma industry making people sick, all health ministers are incompetent and a few others without any shred of backup, facts,. sources, all you do is spout nonsense and conspiracy theories.

Either you do not comprehend the situation or you are deliberately misrepresenting it, but either way you do not present an argument that would convince anyone who hasn't had his brain eaten by a worm. Maybe try persuasion, logic and if you are having difficulties in copying links to sources and inserting them into your posts, just ask us, we'll gladly help.

    …vaccines are about prevention.

    Self discrediting nonsense.

You are cheering on an incompetent, unqualified anti vax loon based on some fantasy view of RFK jnr and big pharma conspiracy theory. Completely divorced from reality based on zero evidence.

RFK jnr chucked over any previous positions to climb the greasy poll into Trumps cabinet.

Can you reconcile his previous statements on environment with Trumps drill baby drill?

    Nope.

With respect that makes absolutely no sense. It's like saying we should prioritise eating over breathing. Without both, you eventually die.

You see, when I see someone like RFK Jr pushing this "prevention" narrative, it is nothing more than a softer line in order to get rid of vaccines by stealth.

Let me phrase the question another way. Do you support vaccines as we currently use them or do you subscribe to RFJ Jrs position that we shouldn't vaccinate children (as is evidenced by his comment about his regret for vaccinating his children). Added to that, do you subscribe to the notion that vaccines are responsible for autism?

Your answers to the above questions are important in order to establish a baseline of your position, as it would be difficult for people to debate you without knowing quite important reasons as to your support of RFK Jr being known.

I’m pretty much at one with what John Major is saying here- we need elder statesmen to speak out - they have experience and insight very few have - no point in keeping silent - both words and actions are needed- stunned silence is a natural reaction at first - but we’re beyond that now.

“Democracy around the globe is under threat from the retreat of Donald Trump’s US into isolationism and its likely replacement by China on the world stage, John Major has said.

The former UK prime minister, who rarely offers direct opinion on contemporary politics, used an interview with BBC Radio 4 to say Trump’s administration was unlike anything he had seen before – and to warn that Washington may live to regret ceding global leadership to a more autocratic power.”

Just saw the presidents motorcade going around the Daytona track. Slowest thing to ever go around it I say. Given all those cars are meant to be extremely heavy. I hope it didn't damage the track. See he left straight away

I don't believe that he will do anything that will help the situation in favour of the Ukrainians or Europe. Trump clearly is besotted by Putin. Much like the NK farce that led to nothing, this may end up the same. It all hinges on whether the EU steps up as a geopolitical power or remains fragmented. If it does, it might actually benefit from Trump’s unpredictability—forcing it to become more independent. If it doesn’t, well… Putin wins by default.

You rate prevention as a higher priority over replacement of vaccines. What type of prevention is it you would advise the US to use as a precaution instead of the anti-covid vaccine?

Its very noticeable that Trump was given the anti-covid vaccine when he was infected by the virus during his last presidency and appreciated it, telling us last week that he was now immune to covid.

When you have a Sec of Health who opposes the use of vaccines Trump probably considers himself lucky that he had a different Sec of health back then.
