It was obviously a hit job. Waiting for him to open his mouth.

I'm by no means a supporter of Trump, but in all fairness, it's a bit 'convenient' that all videos I can find of his removal from the news conference don't include the leadup to it. Can someone direct me to a source for this, as it looks like it's just one half of a story that's being put out there, albeit for a good cause!

According to the BBC he didn't identify himself so the secret service thought he was an attacker.

    Sounds like an excuse.

Really? An elected senator was stopped from speaking and asking questions in his own back yard.

The idea that the SS didn't know who he was, and/or allowed him to get as close as he did just raises further questions.

The leadup to it is what has been going on for the last 4 months

Another utter hypocrisy of right wing Americans is that they cried absolute bloody murder when covid measures were introduced claiming freedoms were being violated. And yet now when very dubious legal grounds are used to justify armed marines being deployed to LA, or ICE agents regularly incarcerating and deporting people without trial, or the president disregarding people's right to protest, there isn't a peep from them.

They're there to liberate the city from the socialists. Are they planning to overthrow the state administration?

Tony Gilroy has said The Empire is based on many different civilisations.

He said he isn't drawing from contemporary politics.

The show’s anti-totalitarian and fascist themes are much wider than just a reference to the contemporary political situation, and are clearly not limited to any specific political struggle.

"The canvas that was being offered was just a wildly abundant opportunity to use all of the nonfiction and all the history and all the amateur reading that I’d done over the past 40 years and all the things I was fascinated by, all the revolution stuff that not only I would never have a chance to do again, but I really wondered if anybody else would ever have a chance to do again," he said.”

Gilroy is obviously completely aware though that everything he is pulling from history is currently relevant.

Trump isnt really a fascist though, more an authoritarian, populist and hypercapitalist.

I don`t see how it could be interpreted otherwise.

Why are people continually willing to.give Trump, and his administration, the benefit of doubt.

He has proved time after time after time that he is al liar and is happy to break any norms.

This is the guy that ambushed Zelensky in the WH. That refuses to condemn Russian aggression. That sat idle while the Congress was attacked and has subsequently pardoned anyone convicted. The administration that illegally removed a man to an El Salvador prison and then refused to bring him back but tried everything to paint him as a terrorist and gang member.

But you think it's unlikely they must have had a good reason to arrest the guy

I'm not really religious. I just use the Father, Son and Holy Ghost thing to make others think they have something to get behind

Not saying this poster is one of a cohort, but one certainly does exist where they caution what they say, by suggesting something in defence of Trump's regime by posing a question or infer something, and then when it's proven not to be true, don't comment further on it.

The fact that you think your final sentence represents the kind of leadership you favour is slightly worrying.

Fascism in a step by step form

    1. Exploiting National Decline and Humiliation: Fascism often presents itself as a solution to perceived national decline or humiliation, appealing to those who feel disillusioned with the existing political order. ✅

    2. Cult of Personality and Leader Worship: A strong, charismatic leader becomes central, often portrayed as an "infallible" figure who can restore national greatness. This leader exploits existing social and political tensions. ✅

    3. Disregard for Democratic Values: Fascist movements often dismiss democratic ideals, viewing them as weak or ineffective, and undermining institutions that uphold freedom and equality. ✅

    4. Identification of Enemies and Scapegoats: A common tactic is to identify "enemies" or scapegoats (e.g., minorities, immigrants, political opponents) who are blamed for the nation's problems. This fosters a sense of unity among supporters while targeting those deemed "outside". ✅

    5. Promotion of Propaganda and Lies: Fascism relies heavily on propaganda to manipulate public opinion and control the flow of information. This can include the spread of misinformation and the distortion of reality. ✅

    6. Military and Paramilitary Strength: Fascist regimes often glorify the military and embrace paramilitary groups, using them to enforce their ideology and suppress dissent. ✅

    7. Control of Mass Media: Media outlets are often brought under government control or influence to ensure that the desired narrative is perpetuated and alternative viewpoints are suppressed. ✅

    8. Suppression of Labor Power: Fascism often works to weaken or destroy labor unions and other organizations that represent working-class interests. Corporate power is often protected and expanded. ✅

    9. Intertwining of Religion and Government: Religion can be used to legitimize the regime and to reinforce its ideology, often in a way that blends political and religious authority. ✅

    10. Emphasis on National Security and Order: Fascist regimes often emphasize the importance of national security and law and order, creating a sense of urgency and need for strong leadership. ✅

Would @MisterAnarchy care to debate any of the above ten steps that are in contention?

The Padillo incident has distracted from ICE Barbie's outrageous comments during the press conference:

"We are staying here to liberate the city from the socialist and the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor have placed on this country," she said, shortly before Padilla could be heard identifying himself as a senator and saying he had questions for the secretary."

Translation: "We are going to liberate the city from its democratically elected leadership using the military."

Guess it's up to the people now to liberate themselves from the fascist regime as the Dems have completely abdicated their responsibilities.

House Speaker Mike Johnson on the assault on Senator Padilla (it was an assault, don't try to whitewash it):

The MAGA-Republican party is truly an abomination.

Trump made a comment about the Indian airplane disaster today.

He said he was on a call to the Indian PM and gave him a few pointers. Yeah Trump knows everything about airplane crashes.

    What an omniscient clown.

    Meanwhile, Israel attacks Iran.

"I’m not going to start wars, I’m going to stop wars."

    Great job again.

President of peace indeed. Since trump came back to the White House there has been nothing but conflict in around the world.

Weren't we told by the cult members here that he was a strongman and was feared and respected? Putin and Netanyahu must be laughing their asses off at him.

Judge Charles Breyer finds that President Trump exceeded the scope of his authority and violated the 10th Amendment by federalizing the California National Guard and orders him to return control to Governor Newsom.

    TACO time?

At least the judges are doing their jobs.

Trump on Oct 1, 2024, said that we are on the brink of WWIII and a “global catastrophe” because Iran just launched missiles at Israel, which never would’ve happened if he was president.

So another bullsh1t lie, to add to the thousands of others, and even more proof that you cannot believe anything that comes out of his mouth..

Also, Trump was told of this strike, told Israel not to do it, and they did it anyway. Where is MAGA's strong leader?
