Good luck in your new job. It is always daunting starting in a new place.

    You'll probably sleep tonight.

My left little toe has had pins and needles all weekend. Don't think it's the shoes.

Also a headache I can't shift. Probably unrelated to the toe. But most definitely a brain tumor at least.

Might be covid. Someone here got has it and it started with a headache.

Uhoh - probably shouldn't be in the office today then! Never even considered covid.

TA I have to work from a hub today and I forgot what it was like to be in an open plan office, smelling other people's lunches, listening to them rustling wrappers, on the phone to whoever some of them loudly despite there being specified call booths for phone calls.

Can't wait to be back in my home office tomorrow where the only nonsense I have to put up with is my own 🤣

The Guardian's constant begging for money has actually gone beyond cringe at this point.

Someone's on a vicious witch hunt and I've been pulled into it.

I won't sleep a wink tonight worrying about tomorrow.

First Apache I've heard of on a witch hunt! I'd wait until Cochise confirms it kosher, if I were you.

Someone in the office just went "Who?" when someone else mentioned Robert Redford's death, and I'm officially a dinosaur.

The use of the word 'fractional' in job titles nowadays - I think it generally means contract or part-time but 'fractional' annoys me

People sitting parked in their car with the engine idling (in a non “Set down area” context)

Unless it is the dead of winter, or your car is clearly a banger that may not restart, I immediately judge idlers as being self absorbed morons

Bonus points if they have their foot on the brake the entire time too. I needed to pop into the post office recently and there was a guy parked outside, but with his brake lights on, so I reckoned he was getting ready to pull out so waited for a minute or so. No movement, so I was like fine, he was one of those types who needs 5 minutes to do god knows what between starting the car and actually driving off, so I drove around the block. He was still there at that point so I just found another spot further down the road. I was about 10 or 15 minutes in the post office and when I came out he was still sitting there with the engine running and his foot on the brake. Wtf do people be doing???

adults who watch simpsons, family guy, South Park and think they’re creative and funny!!🤢

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,746 ✭✭✭Stephen_Maturin

Sorry Walshie but you’re way off here - the classic Simpsons and more latterly South Park are some of the most brilliant social satire available

To dismiss either as mere puerile toilet humour etc is only a reflection of a shallow understanding/lack of familiarity with the material at best

I hate to seem ungrateful but I met an acquaintance I hadn't met for a while and she sympathised with me over a recent bereavement and gave me a hug, 11 hours later and I'm still getting a hint of her perfume. It was very strong.

You could easily argue South Park has the greatest writing of any show in the last few decades. It's different level at times.

I can’t sleep thinking of the LIVE mouse my cat brought me as a present downstairs … still alive. Tried rescuing her before bed but she’s gone into a nook and won’t come out. Cat meanwhile is not happy that she’s not got access to this area

Try with a humane trap - if you haven't one you can make one in, like, 3 minutes, using a plastic bottle - they're very effective and you can release Mousy afterwards.

I bought an item on eBay at the weekend from a seller in Ireland.

I kind of half expected to have it by now, no word of it even being sent, hasn't replied to a message re same. I'm just getting a bad vibe about it.

I met a couple recently whose cat brought them a live canary. So they now have a pet canary.

TA that if I open a thread on boards - with a few hundred new posts, and read a couple of pages, then close the tab - when I come back later it thinks I'm up to date and I've read all of those posts.

    Is that a new thing?

Simon Harris is monitoring the situation...
