I hate trailers in general, even unnecessary ads for upcoming television episodes. I've had a trivial annoyance for ages about people in the Television forum starting thread about new programmes, and only adding a trailer. And one of the worse culprits is a Mod.

For me, that's as bad as a link dump. Why not say "This new programme is a sci-fi thriller about artificial intelligence starring Anthony Hopkins and Twink, and here's the trailer."? Then we can watch the trailer if we want.

This flag was commonly used by the United Irishmen in the 1798 rebellion.

The United Irishmen, founded in 1791, aimed to unite Catholic, Protestant and Dissenter in an Irish sovereign Republic.

The flag has been hijacked in recent time by people who stand for disunity instead of unity. A rabble who offer nothing but hatred.

    On Valentines day? 🤔🤔🤔😂

My right hip has been sore since I woke up, it feels like my femur is in the wrong place for some reason.

I can't get heat into me today . I decided not to go back to bed earlier and am regretting it now as it's too late .

A piece I read today mentioned the fashion for "Galantines" instead of "Valentines." Twenty-five years ago, I received an email asking me how my curious way of celebrating Valentine's Day went, as the opening greeting. That would now be called Galantines(we in particular was a handful of women who had lost a partner in the previous 12 months)

Ta not sure if I had been so far ahead of the rest of the population then or they are just catching up with me now or partner-less women were eating chocs/eating cake/chocolates were doing this all along(my bet) and your one in the first paragraph was out of step!

Imo love is love and friends are vital part of that.

Have a radiator bleed key that works on most of the radiators but not a couple of new ones. Could use a screwdriver but don't want to strip the notch. Went to shop, they said there is only one size. Didn't have any measurement. Felt like a dope.

Overpaying a parking meter cause you put in 2 euro instead of one and didn't press the cancel button because you don't trust the meter to give you your money back.

Am I the only one to notice a trend in feminism renaming days of the year to celebrate womanhood?

    Galentines Day.

Women's Christmas is suddenly a thing now.

    St.Brigid's Day.

International Women's Day (as if the male equivalent was even marked in the diary).

We aren't too far away from single women renaming Christmas Missmas.

International Women's Day (8th of March) has been a thing for well over 100 years, now.

Very trivial I know, but TA that when I clicked into boards.ie to see if there had been any posts on threads I’m interested in, I can only see the date its posted, not the time, so I have to check if it was before or after I checked this morning.

Agreed. Galentines, though, should die of a death.

Don’t know if it was. A thing before but the first place I ever heard of Galentine’s Day was in the US TV series Parks and Recreation and it was perfect for the character who celebrated her friends, but hate that it has been hijacked for commercial gain.

In my workplace, all the women used to be given a little pack, a selection of items that the company made globally (not on site) on International Women's Day. One of the lads was trivially annoyed by this, so asked HR, year after year, why there wasn't the same for International Men's Day. Eventually (in about 2018), they gave one on both days. Yay! Everyone's happy!!

That was the last year anyone got it. 🤔

Virgin TV on Saorview (Bohs/Rovers) it's like watching a VHS tape.

You do know once you change your starter, it'll be the answer the next time.

My TA and more than trivial, having marriage difficulties. Always seem to be arguing and always seems to be my fault.

Let me guess... is this thread "borked", too? It is, isn't it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,189 ✭✭✭Deregos.

Sorry to hear that your having difficulties in your marriage Castletownman. That's definitely not trivial. Don't be reluctant to get help from guidance counselors to give a bit of perspective to things.

That there are no small job size tubes of silicone or caulk. Why is this waste acceptable?

I don't for a second think I'm alone in having to repeatedly throw out third used or half used tubes of silicone or caulk.

Wouldn't a half tube not make obvious sense?

I can see the TA in that, but its down to the cost of the contents, the cost of the tube, number of items a retailer can stock, standardisation and cost. You'd be paying proportionately a lot more for a half tube so why not buy a full tube and be sure you have enough for the job?

Wake me up when it's all over.

Yeah, I've given up keeping tubes of Teh7 in the van in case I might need them. They're too expensive to be going off so quickly. Cheaper brands seem to stay usable for longer.

On your point of tubes of caulk etc , I had an old gun of my father's and you could leave a continuous bead , but on new guns it's crap

There seemed to be a never ending list of little things to do in the house yesterday. When I finally got to sit down and relax I was grumpy and irritable. The two dogs going crazy because a cat entered the back yard certainly didn’t help.

I wish the news media and Met.ie would find a different way to express weather warnings I find "Yellow rain warning" rather unsettling for the wrong reasons :-(
