One of the things that I hate about my job(in addition to all the rest) is that I have to deal with career civil servants(servants in name only Ime)

My service user asked for an appointment with the career guidance officer at college before the summer break; only a follow-up email to an outsider prompted an appointment at short notice.

The meeting consisted of badly researched suggestions, followed by a snippy rejection of the client's request for an updated CV. Follow-up's were ignored (emails went into the junk folder by "accident" I was told once I kicked up)

Ta how some ppl can cherry-pick their tasks but the client cant refuse suggestions that dont suit them for the rest of their working life.

Ta2, this leaves a person with challenges without a current cv or any career direction even though its a big pos for this institution.

My till operator at Aldi today was mistaken about the change rounding rules. "No I'm sorry, you are wrong, Eur7.07 does not round up to 7.10".

She called the manager over when I wouldnt beleive her. I got my 5c.

I think she might remember me!

TA I prepared what I thought was going to be a delicious but simple dinner to cook in the slow cooker today. Decided to take a peek and give it a stir but the whole thing is watery crap. It may be going in the bin and I hate throwing food in the bin 😣

Stick it in a pot on the hob with no lid and let it reduce down. If it's still only fit for the bin after that, at least you tried.

This selfish titbag who sometimes comes into the coffee shop at work at lunchtime. He takes up the space of four people with himself, his jacket, his laptop, his laptop charger and his hard hat.

encountered a fella earlier who gets to a door coming through it in the opposite direction to myself slightly before me, he can’t not see me approaching as he walks through but instead of taking an extra 4 seconds to hold the door for me like any reasonable & courteous person he allows it to slam shut behind him and this just as I’m getting to it with my arm extended to attempt to take it from him. No apology or acknowledgement, he just rushes off….oblivious… I know the fella to see, I see him regularly at this business we both use and he always looks to be a bit hyper and in a colossal rush to go nowhere fast, weirdo…manners cost nothing however 🙄⚠️

Another subtitles gripe. Watching a series called Paris Has Fallen. Nothing to do with the Gerard Butler films. I have the closed captions turned on cos I'm a bit deaf. Up until this episode (I'm on episode 6) they have had translations for any bits in French. Somehow, for this episode, they forgot to include the translated captions. There have been a couple of scenes in this episode entirely in French and I have no clue what was said. Quite possibly I have missed important plot points.

More than TA i'd argue, but yeah definitely a maddening experience!

I emailed NowTV the other day about it. Was rewatching House of the Dragon. Always have the subtitles on cos I'm hard of hearing but they're also just handy -

Every bit of translation where they're speaking High Valyrian is covered up with [Speaks High Valyrian]

Pretty sure I emailed them the first time I watched Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon as well

What was more TA - They emailed back with "can you tell us which programme you're having this issue with, which device you're watching on, and which episodes is this happening on?"

Had included the show title, device, update status of said device, and a sample number of episodes in my first email to them! 😐️

When people complain about new buildings built and how they are robbing cities/towns of character and how it looked so much better before.

I'm not referring to historical building but old run down factories/houses/etc.

I have never once in my life found a "one pot" meal to be anything but a tasteless mushy mess. I don't know why I keep trying them.

I'm trying very hard not to do a very long rant, but the new speed limits. ATM, a trivial thing because it mostly effects roads where it would usually be inadvisable to do the old limit anyway, but probably going to be huge in the future.

One thing that's really annoying me is the 'If it saves one life it'll be worth it' nonsense. No it sodding won't. The target is zero, which is impossible. Impossible. You could spend a fortune and get very close, but you'll never have zero. So it becomes a question of how much are you willing to invest in the hopes of saving how many lives? And every penny you spend on trying to prevent road deaths is a penny that might have been spent elsewhere; cancer services and screening, air pollution prevention, environmental protection, social services - every penny spent might cost a life elsewhere.

So yeah, the reduction will probably save some lives at a cost to our economy, and will be touted a success. And when the next dopey minister is looking for more wins to hit his targets, what are the odds we get a further reduction as an easy out. Before long we'll all be driving around at 2mph with a man with a flag walking in front of us....

Boss asked me to organise a meeting between myself, himself and a third party for this week - he said he was pretty much wide open as far as times go. I organise a time with the third party, share with boss who then says he's not in fact available at all on said day or the day after because he's away at a course and we should go ahead without him. Half the point of the meeting was to bring him up to speed on certain things! 🙄

My teammate who is both lazy and aggressive.

Late every day, plays with his phone during meetings and takes 4 tea breaks before 11. I’m not supervisor so not my issue to solve.

But around 4pm he is of course behind in his work and starts banging his desk and swearing and just unpleasant to be around. It seems in the place banging your fist off a desk is grand.

My teammate and I told our boss we will always help the team but we are not bailing out a guy who does nothing until 4pm and then starts stressing. World class procrastination ha!

Couldn't like a post more if I tried.

My TA: they have added I say 20 mins to my delivery route every day with the van having a tracker on it.

As I said on the controversial opinions thread, all it is is nanny stateism.

Celery leaves! cutting them off adds to the costs and often harder to find the leaves on ones than the leaves off ones(hearts)

These are perfectly edible and cook into a yummy dish, so why is it harder to find the celery with leaves on.

Dunnes do two sizes packs of raw diced chicken 350g and 450g, they are "conveniently" displayed beside each other.

Cooking a dish everyone likes, defrost the chicken....as I'm putting it into the pan I realize I've picked up the 350g portion, ffs 😡 😡 😡

Of course kids looking for seconds.... usually it's a battle 🙄 🙄 🙄

What I hate about chicken breast/stripes. You either have to much or to little for the people your cooking for.

I'm after letting a fart that has made me get up and change my kacks . It was that bad

Feral teenagers outside shops etc, usually late at night, trying to provoke you to react with their antisocial behaviour. Usually groups of 4 or so. I seem to be running into a lot of them lately. No reaction from me, but I fear some bad day I'll lose it.

Unusual how it's only an issue the last few months.

Maybe it doesn't count as one pot but put the meat in first to brown it then turn down for the veg . I've only used 1 pot for veg and usually sear meat and add

had a shave before bed. But my face and especially my throat area subsequently is on fire and I cannot find my post shave balm that usually works wonders as providing instant post shave cooling relief..cold water on a cloth hasn’t helped any, it’s probably irritated it more. Trivial but hey, I’m in bed trying to sleep, with fire face / throat… the fúck did that bottle of balm go to… it works good that stuff.

I just witnessed the most excellent display of dealing with bus arseholery ever. Guy in front of me was gatekeeping the very last seat on a very full bus with his bag. Another guy eventually spotted it and went to sit down. Guy A just completely ignored his polite "Do you mind?" - didn't even look up or acknowledge him - so Guy B just sat *on* the bag.

    Absolute legend of a man.

Things like soups or stews are grand. I'm talking about dishes that cook the rice/pasta in the pot with the sauce. The carb always ends up either underdone or (most common) an overdone mush in a watery soup.

TA today is husband who never wants to come to bed but always complains in the morning that he's tired. I feel like his mammy every night encouraging him to not stay up too late.

Being told a meeting is being 'pushed'. To me that means, pushed to a later time but sometimes it seems to mean pushed off a cliff never to be seen. TA is people not being clear in their communications
