Danny Lauby on a good run today. Wonder if he'll finally get a tour card

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,500 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

Today's card battles are coming down to:

    • UK: Matthew Dennant, Danny Lauby, Dom Taylor, and either James Hurrell or Robert Grundy
    • EU: Jules van Dongen, Benjamin Drue Reus, Jelle Klaasen, or Patrick Geeraets

Also, an observation from the order of merit rankings - only 7 players in the UK and 9 players in the EU have scored points on both days so far.

Klassen wins the EU one. Both players averaged 99 and went to deciding leg

And what a deciding leg too. Both were on 81 after 9 and but Klaasen broke the throw to win in 11 darts. Impressive stuff.

Cork man Radek Szaganski is on the verge of securing his card after getting to 6 points.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,706 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

I'd imagine he's safe. Usually last day has lots of drop outs.

Im fairness to him his form really picked up last few months and he's carried it into Q School

Glad to see Jelle Klaasen back on tour. I was always a fan of his as a dartist.

EU: WDF world champion Andy Baetens goes from 0 points to an automatic Tour Card.

Haupai Puha (9 points) and Jules van Dongen (8 points) are guaranteed OoM Tour Cards. Radek Szaganski (7 points, +35 LD) is guaranteed if he doesn't show up tomorrow.

UK: Leighton Bennett 🆚 Thomas Cromwell for today's card.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,500 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

UK: Once dubbed the next Phil Taylor, Leighton Bennett finally gets on tour.

No merit guarantees as the top of the table only has 7 points.

McGuirk has a tough board Adam Hunt, Conan Whitehead/John Henderson, and Colin Osborne

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,706 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

McGuirk out first round. Dean Forde through but will need to win the day outright to get a card

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,500 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

Currently 6 points is a lock in both schools. That covers up to 6th place in the UK, and 9th place in the EU.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,706 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Michele Turetta becomes first Italian tour card holder

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,500 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

9/10 UK merit cards secured. 10/13 EU merit cards secured.

Still three players in both schools who have a card on merit who can win the day and move the needle down a space.

UK Q-School is almost complete after the quarter-finals.

    • Automatic winners: Steve Lennon, Robert Grundy, Leighton Bennett.
    • Automatic or OoM winners: Matthew Dennant, Dom Taylor, Joshua Richardson.
    • OoM winners: William Borland, James Hurrell, George Killington, Danny Lauby, Rhys Griffin, Brett Claydon, Darren Beveridge.

The semi-final between Richardson and current transfer spot Adam Hunt will determine the final card. If Hunt wins, he gets the card. Otherwise, Hunt needs to not lose by +2 or more, otherwise his leg difference drops below Darren Webster.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,500 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

And EU Q-School is also almost complete after the first semi-final.

    • Automatic winners: Martijn Dragt, Jelle Klaasen, Andy Baetens.
    • Automatic or OoM winners: Thibault Tricole, Jitse van der Wal.
    • OoM winners: Haupai Puha, Jules van Dongen, Radek Szaganski, Chris Landman, Patrick Geeraets, Paul Krohne, Benjamin Drue Reus, Mario Vandenbogaerde, Lukas Wenig, Michele Turetta, Tim Wolters.

Final card comes down to whether Jeffrey de Graaf can win the day. If not, it goes to Damian Mol.
