I'm hoping she does win a card to see how she'd fare on the tour. Be better than her only popping up now and again via invitationals or dodgy rule making. It's a pity more women didn't try it. It's a shot to nothing for them as if they fail they still have the womens tour and can gain entry to some major through that OoM. Anyone know why Greaves didn't bother trying?

Has it too easy playing against the women and doesnt want to challenge herself against the men. She's picking up easy cheques where she is right now

What makes it even worse is that the top 8 on the Women's Series Order of Merit get free entry to Q-School so they wouldn't even have to pay to enter. You also need to play in Q-School if you want to play on the challenge tour.

Only Fallon and Noah-Lynn Van Leuven have entered along with Rachel Brooks who enters every year.

Fallon was impressive yesterday but obviously stage 2 is a step up in quality.

Will be interesting to see what the UK OoM stage 1 cut off for qualification will be. I reckon all on 4 points will make it and a few with 3 and a v healthy leg difference will get through too.

Any player on 4 with a healthy leg diff is prob best off missing today to avoid the risk of a 5-0 whitewash damaging the leg difference if it did come down to that

She was pretty close to getting her card last year, possibly a bit unlucky not too

I reckon she'll do it this year and hope she does. She's got the game to be a top 64 player, maybe top 32 with regular week in week out high, level competition

Irish players through to L128 stage today and gaining OoM points

Dean Forde (now on a min of 4 points and almost certainly through to phase 2)

Conor Heneghan (first point and probably needs to make L16 stage)

Damien O Driscoll (first point and probably needs to make L16 stage)

Niall Culleton (now on a min of 3 points and probably just needs to win at L64 stage to progress to phase 2)

Michael Flynn (now on a min of 4 points and almost certainly through to phase 2)

Culleton gets his win, Heneghan and O Driscoll both lose in L64 stage

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,498 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

So the cut off ended up being 3 points and a leg difference of +4 with a minimum of 25 leg wins. Willie Borland of world championship 9 darter fame the last player in.

    Irish players in stage 2

    Steve Lennon

    John O Shea

    Shane McGuirk

    Keith Rooney

    Michael Flynn

    Patrick Quinn

    Dean Forde

    Niall Culleton

John Part also made stage 2 as did Colin Osborne, Mark Dudbridge and Alan Norris

Only six 3-pointers made it through, so they got very lucky.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,500 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

3 points, and +5 leg difference is the cutoff for the EU OoM. Today's top 8 are guaranteed to be from the top 91, so with 83 merit spots open they all make it.

Corey Cadby's card has been revoked. There are now 31 cards available to the Orders of Merit, splitting 10 UK and 13 EU (pro rata 9.5034 and 13.4965)

Most of the Irish lads got winnable ties. Jon O'Shea has the toughest with Scott Waites

Andy hamilton supposed to have dropped out of phase 2 uk

He's playing in the Modus Super Series. I'd say he might play on Sunday and try win a card outright.

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,498 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Steve Lennon, Michael Flynn and Shane McGuirk all win their first round matches.

Keith Rooney lost and Niall Culleton 5-3 down atm.

OoM points awarded from L32 stage.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,706 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Jon O'Shea puts out Scott Waites. Not the greatest averages between them

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,498 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Lennon and McGuirk through to L32 and at last 1 OoM point.

O Shea yet to play and Flynn out at L64 stage

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,498 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

O Shea out at L64 stage.

Steven Lennon through to L16 and Shane McGuirk up 5-3 v Lee Cocks in his L32 game

edit - McGuirk through as well

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,246 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

Lennon and McGuirk both through to the L8 as both won 6-5.

Lennon came back from 4-0 down to win, the last leg saw loads of missed doubles from both players before Lennon crawled over the line.

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,498 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Lennon into semi final

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,498 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Shane McGuirk loses 6-3 in QF to George Killington
