Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wonder if Niko Springer will properly try to win a card this time or just turning up to enter the challenge and euro tour events. Has the talent to get a card.

Dmitri Van Den Bergh's younger brother Xanthi is entered into the Euro Q-School

FWIW Matt Edgar has picked Steve Lennon and Shane McGuirk as two of his ten picks to win a tour card this year

    Euro list here :: https://tv.dartconnect.com/event/pdceuqs24s1e1/entries

One of my favourite weeks in the darting schedule. Great fun watching the scores and tracking a few people to see if they make the cut. And of course, looking out for the person who shoots the lowest average. Always a couple of players with High 20's/Low 30's in there ;)

good video here from Matt Edgar that explains the process

    https://www.pdc.tv/news/2024/01/06/2024-pdc-qualifying-schools-final-entries-confirmed

357 UK, and 507 EU entries confirmed.

With 30 cards, that's 8 guaranteed to the final stage winners; and the remaining 22 should split 10 UK, 12 EU (41.32%/58.68% = 9.09/12.91)

Dartsconnect really struggling to handle the traffic today

First round exit for Jeffrey De Graaf. Thought he'd be one of the contenders for a card after his world championship run

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Neilie Brouder, Dean Forde, Shane McGuirk, Michael Flynn, Patrick Quinn and Ultan McDyer all through to L128 where they begin to get OoM points.

Lowest average I have spotted so far is Jamie Foster on 36.10 in a 5-0 L512 defeat today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Only Dean forde and Michael flynn progressed. Forde out at L64 stage, while Flynn still in at the L32 stage.

Flynn loses last 32 stage so ends on 3 OoM points.

John part with a 12 darter for the match, brilliant

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Danny Lauby into second stage. Wonder if he'll finally get a tour card this time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,678 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

UK Day 1 automatic advancers: Harry Lane, Danny Lauby, Adam Hunt, Patrick Lynskey, Llew Bevan, Matthew Dennant, Mike Warburton, Kieron Bridgwater.

8 that move on to the final stage automatically, so they get to have the next two days off.

EU final games in progress now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,678 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

EU Day 1 automatic advancers: Arno Merk, Filip Sebesta, Anton Ostlund, Stefan Bellmont, Stefaan Henderyck, Matthias Ehlers, Felix Schiertz, Vitezslav Sedlak.

Into final stage. In the final stage the winners of each day (4 days) get a tour card. Thats 8 total - four UK, 4 EU. The remaining places go to the top players in the final stage OoM

I see Kai Fan Leung back in today - he did really well a few years ago, pretty sure got his card - wonder what happened then?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,421 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

Points tables after day 1. I think around 4 points is usually good enough to advance to stage 2 after the 3 days

I don't see too many women trying out bar Sherrock and Rachel Brooks. Is that all that are trying? Seems a poor showing if so

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Niall Culleton

    Dean Forde

    Dylan Dowling

    Patrick Quinn

Culleton, Quinn, McGuirk, Rooney all into L64.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Patrick Quinn beats Kevin Painter in L64 5-0. Rooney and McGuirk also through

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Rooney and McGuirk into L16. A win for either/both will guarantee them phase 2 progression altho the may already have enough OoM points. Quinn still playing his L32 match

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,421 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

    Quinn beaten in L32.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,421 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

Fallon Sherrock won all her matches today and qualifies for stage 2

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

    3 x 90+ averages from Fallon today

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

McGuirk through to phase 2. Bet 2005 World Finalist Mark Dudbridge

    McGuirk through as mentioned above.

Rooney and Quinn on 4 OoM points so will probably progress. Dean Forde on 3 as is Michael Flynn

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Euro Q-School looks a mess. 3 different rounds are on at the minute

was a T256 game and a T32 game on at the same time earlier.

I'm hoping she does win a card to see how she'd fare on the tour. Be better than her only popping up now and again via invitationals or dodgy rule making. It's a pity more women didn't try it. It's a shot to nothing for them as if they fail they still have the womens tour and can gain entry to some major through that OoM. Anyone know why Greaves didn't bother trying?

    Any news on Nial Culleton

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

On 2 Order of merit points but outside qualifying spot on legs difference. Will need roughly 2 points tomorrow to get through

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,678 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

UK Day 2 automatic advancers: Jamie Atkins, Fallon Sherrock, Shane McGuirk, Chris Quantock, Patrik Williams, Kevin Lane, Charlie Martin, Andy Hamilton.

UK OoM guaranteed advancers (may still choose to win through to an automatic advance spot tomorrow): Kevin Thomas, Thomas Lovely, Thomas Banks, Alex Spellman, Thomas Cromwell, Daniel Astbury, Liam Goyne.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,678 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

EU Day 2 automatic advancers: Ron Meulenkamp, Angelo Balsamo, Romeo Grbavac, Pal Szekely, Paul Krohne, Andy Baetens, Liam Maendl-Lawrance, Roman Benecky

EU OoM guaranteed advancers: Patrick Tringler, Ryuta Arihara, Joerg Mitterlehner, Jeroen Mioch

Has it too easy playing against the women and doesnt want to challenge herself against the men. She's picking up easy cheques where she is right now

What makes it even worse is that the top 8 on the Women's Series Order of Merit get free entry to Q-School so they wouldn't even have to pay to enter. You also need to play in Q-School if you want to play on the challenge tour.

Only Fallon and Noah-Lynn Van Leuven have entered along with Rachel Brooks who enters every year.

Fallon was impressive yesterday but obviously stage 2 is a step up in quality.

Will be interesting to see what the UK OoM stage 1 cut off for qualification will be. I reckon all on 4 points will make it and a few with 3 and a v healthy leg difference will get through too.

Any player on 4 with a healthy leg diff is prob best off missing today to avoid the risk of a 5-0 whitewash damaging the leg difference if it did come down to that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,028 ✭✭✭boomdocker

She was pretty close to getting her card last year, possibly a bit unlucky not too

I reckon she'll do it this year and hope she does. She's got the game to be a top 64 player, maybe top 32 with regular week in week out high, level competition

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Irish players through to L128 stage today and gaining OoM points

Dean Forde (now on a min of 4 points and almost certainly through to phase 2)

Conor Heneghan (first point and probably needs to make L16 stage)

Damien O Driscoll (first point and probably needs to make L16 stage)

Niall Culleton (now on a min of 3 points and probably just needs to win at L64 stage to progress to phase 2)

Michael Flynn (now on a min of 4 points and almost certainly through to phase 2)

Culleton gets his win, Heneghan and O Driscoll both lose in L64 stage

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

So the cut off ended up being 3 points and a leg difference of +4 with a minimum of 25 leg wins. Willie Borland of world championship 9 darter fame the last player in.

    Irish players in stage 2

    Steve Lennon

    John O Shea

    Shane McGuirk

    Keith Rooney

    Michael Flynn

    Patrick Quinn

    Dean Forde

    Niall Culleton

John Part also made stage 2 as did Colin Osborne, Mark Dudbridge and Alan Norris

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,678 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

Only six 3-pointers made it through, so they got very lucky.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,678 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

3 points, and +5 leg difference is the cutoff for the EU OoM. Today's top 8 are guaranteed to be from the top 91, so with 83 merit spots open they all make it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,678 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

Corey Cadby's card has been revoked. There are now 31 cards available to the Orders of Merit, splitting 10 UK and 13 EU (pro rata 9.5034 and 13.4965)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Most of the Irish lads got winnable ties. Jon O'Shea has the toughest with Scott Waites
