Thought I'd start a new thread with the 2024 registrations looming for some pictures/discussions etc! Lets go....

Will wait until the "updated" Golf, A3 and 1 Series are released to see if theres anything interesting.

Sure he had moved to Suzuki last year too. I wonder did his local Ford dealer change to Suzuki or did he just not like any of the current Ford's or what.

Suzuki doing well , their warranties not as good as Koreans but they suppose to be very reliable

That Suzuki dealer can go on holidays for the rest of the month now that they have hit their January sales target.

Maybe he done a deal with the dealer because they know he gets noticed and it will get other people interested in buying a new Suzuki now.

OK but a person who bought the same car for years wouldn't be a great person for knowledge of cars. Lol

They are a grand car - old school

and pretty plastic inside . In fairness S sold over 2100 last year . I see around galway they mainly sell to the older generation- seem to love them .

You can’t go wrong with a Suzuki- they’re very reliable economical motoring. Though not my cup of tea, They make a lot of sense for people with little interest in cars

Over 2000 cars sold in Ireland is a decent run for a small player like Suzuki

They stopped building them last July.

Ford must have a big stock pile made in advance. Always a very popular evergreen car, it’s a shame to see them discontinued. I guess there’s just very little profit in small cars

Ford isn’t lean enough to make profit on small cars I would say. When you see Dacia happily making a properly decent car like the Sandero it tells you it can be done. The fact that Ford cut everything bar trucks/SUVs from its American lineup suggests they can’t make affordable cars profitable.

Its a fact that small cars are the most difficult to make the numbers work on. An airbag system, pre-collision system, multiplex wiring system, infotainment system, HVAC system etc etc costs pretty much the same whether it’s a €20k supermini or a €50k crossover,

Yes Ford were making the fiesta in high cost Spain and Germany too which can not have helped. I’d say it’s difficult to build a small car profitably in Western Europe.

Still, the mighty Toyota seem to make it work with the Yaris built in France. Also the cheaper Aygo built in Czech. Though they probably can nudge a slight price premium with their hybrids and the Yaris is popular globally.

Now that the horrid 1.0 engine is gone, the Yaris is quite impressive. Relative got one last year and the only real bad point was the rattle engine. Not sure I’d give the €25k for a hybrid but that’s the way it’s gone. Even a base Fiesta on steel wheels is €23k now.

Yes relative to the market the Yaris is a very sensible buy really. They’re a decent enough size now to not tinny like they used to be. A small family that doesn’t do huge mileage could live with one

I'd say it's the last of them. Certainly as of November when I went into the dealer I was told that there are very few new Fiestas available.

I asked about getting one in chrome blue, but it wasn't possible. So, I will be getting one in white.

There has been a lot of demand for new Fiestas considering they are no longer being made.
