Thanks all. They said they can do solis or huawei as well if I want but lean towards the duracell one due to the single system. (huawei would be more expensive due to the batteries) Might pull the trigger to try Duracell out, Wish me luck!

Hi, the price might seem right, bit I want to flag the grant for this year is €2,100, and it seems they are discounting €2,400. Double check if they are offering you the extra €300 themselves, or if it's dodgy.

And just to note, for anyone considering pulling the trigger, that the grant is due to drop another €300 in Jan

    Hi,

Thoughts on this please. I have one EV, monthly bills approximately €300~, monthly use 1000~ kWh.
Most panels are south south west facing, ones marked green would only get morning sun.
Company (**) was recommended by someone we know.

@dinneenp You can't name installers so be best to edit that out. Other than that the quote looks good.

    Morning, Having re-mortaged the house to pay 2022's electricity bill and sold the eldest child to sustain 2023's demands, I am finally jumping on the PV train. With 17,000 units per annum and a EV, all the advice I can see in this forum is to max the panels. The roof is the size of a small football pitch and is south facing so 22 should fit comfortably… With that in mind, the quote from a very well recommended company is as follows;

    22 X 455W AIKO Solar Panels + SigEnergy Hybrid inverter + 2 x SigenStor 5kWh battery + BER - €18,115 before grant (€16,015 after grant)

    22 X 455W AIKO Solar Panels + SigEnergy Hybrid inverter + SigenStor 5kWh battery + SigenStor 8kWh battery + BER - €19,090 before grant (€16,990 after grant)

    22 X 455W AIKO Solar Panels + SigEnergy Hybrid inverter + 2 x SigenStor 8kWh battery + BER - €19,770 before grant (€17,670 after grant)

The solar quote analyser is relatively satisfied with this quote, but interested in human input! Thanks in advance.

Reading thru recent quotes, the best quote I have sounds about right. Would be grateful for any feedback, although I have already paid some deposit.

14x 430w Jinko panels (8 facing West and rest East), and a couple of optimisers.
    Solis 5k hybrid inverter
    Dyness 5.1k battery
    No eddi, no BER
    Approximately 8k (after grant).

House doesn't have an inspectable earth rode, hopefully they will put that in as well as part of the work.

PS: ESB data shows we consume about 10 kWh a day on average, we have gas central heating, hob etc as well, and we recently bought an EV but that won't change much as we don't drive a lot either. Overall with the battery enabling a small amount of load-shifting, I am hoping this would pay for itself in about 6-8 years - "hope" rather than "worked out" because I find it incredibly complex to run these numbers with so many variables in the mix.

Cheers, went with that company. Got €200 off; not much but every little helps.

    Hi

I have panels installed but looking to get a battery added.

    Any ideas on cost involved?

Is this something I could get an electrician to do or should I go back to the solar company that did the install?

    Thanks

    M

What are people's thoughts on the DIY kits on Donedeal?

€4k+VAT for 5.2kW of panels, a Solis inverter and a 5kW battery, or €2.7k without the battery

Just goes to show how much these lads in a van are making (well their boss anyway)

Yeah, I'm not eligible for the grant, and looks like the cost of components is 1/4 the total install cost.

I have a pal who is a roofer and we're thinking of doing everything except the consumer unit connection ourselves.

Bit of an odd question and not sure if right thread

Just wondering what sort of value would be in a second hand GIVenergy 2.6kWh battery, same as the one below.

    Its 4 years old.

the 15kWh seplos kits from fogstar is about €120/kWh, Givenergy though, maybe €4-500?

Would be happy with that, I guess adverts/donedeal best place to advertise?

Astroenergy panels...anyone know if good or bad.

I got a quote of 8850 pre grant for the above

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,392 ✭✭✭✭Timmaay

Solar install quote for a 20kw system on a dairy farm. Sounds v expensive (before grant) compare to the rule of thumb of 1000e per kw? I only got a 16kva supply from esb here, so the inverter is a big limitation.

Paying 21c day and 15c night (+vat) at the minute, any idea what sort of payback I would actually be looking at, I'm not for a second believing the salesman telling me 2 to 3yrs 2bh.

If going for ground mounted it might be worth looking at bifacial panels. Never heard of those panels but they seem to be an established brand.

Thanks, I will discuss with him

2 x rows of 7 panels, I've plenty of space so not crowding them if that makes sense

I'm having my ground mounted ("tree root") 16 panel Astro energy panel system commissioned over the next day or so. The photo below is taken from the back of one of the panels - you can get some technical info on it if that helps (zoom in!)

    20241006_095623.jpg

I can't give you a steer on how good they are (or not) - I went with the panels / battery / inverter as recommender by the installer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,560 ✭✭✭con747

Get as many panels as you can on the install if you can because you save the vat and costs of getting one off extras in the future. Make sure you get an inverter capable of handling any more panels if you decide you want more in the future.
