I couldn't detect any thunder or lightning in the centre of Cork City, but some where lucky to get it.

Most of it wasted on the Irish Sea now.

We lost power in west Galway too for about 10 seconds at that time. It must have been from the Tuam hit because we haven't seen any lightning or heard any thunder.

What Storm?? There is zero going down in Cork, other than some lightning strikes out at sea that clipped the extreme South Coast. When are these violent winds coming?!

Shannon Airport went from no gust at 9.30pm to gusting 51 knots at 10pm. Wind gone around to the south west.

Glad that ME pulled the orange warning from Galway. I'm here in Oranmore and honestly this is one of the calmer nights I've experienced in the last 3 weeks or so. Felt like non-stop wind all of December.

Projections were for the worst of the wind around now and nothing of note to report.

As you probably know, the slack winds north of central Clare were due to the centre of low pressure tracking into Ireland around Galway Bay. Winds will pick up once this feature is clear of the eastern counties, to reach about the same values as further south (where these values will be lower than at peak of wind gusts, around 50-80 km/hr). No further low centres associated with this spell of windy interval will be as far south, so from now on, most regions will have more similar wind values.

On 18z GFS, Saturday's strong wind potential looks quite well developed, but it looks marginal for a named storm, peak winds Saturday evening.

Certainly the last hour has been the most blowy of the whole day here on the Dublin coast. Very squally with that pulse of rain thats just about passed through.
