Hi I think the amount of housing estates has something to do with higher Insurance costs and road closures on more of the main roads.

My 10th time doing the event, I'm a local and have done all the distances.

Think there was extra waves in the Half, probably to reduce the congestion when the Half and the full met.

Didn't quite make my goal time but still a great day 🙂

Well organised event again, was glad I remembered to bring along some sun cream with me or I'd have been cooked. Personally I was taking it very easy as recovering from a hamstring niggle but I lost all energy after ~30k, found out the reason this morning with a positive CV-19 test 😕Oh well a few days rest at home isn't the worst plan.

Well done to everyone taking part, heat made it harder than normal.

So who cleaned up collecting all the bottles. All them 15 cents getting thrown away.

I saw one person in around the top 10 in the half throw a bottle into a grass area just as you came down after the interchange on the way back to the city.

Whatever about side of road but into the grass area it wasn’t getting collected

Still haven't got the tshirt either . I would be surprised if they ever actually send it out.

Shame about the medals aswell as anyone doing a 1 and done would treasure it. I have done few enough marathons that I would be fairly aggrieved not to have a medal. Maybe that changes the more you do but many at 5 hrs or more wouldn't be frequent marathon runners.

There are two people in my running group who didn't get medals, a 5 hour and a 6 hour finisher. Getting no response from the organisers, fairly poor form!

They gave out marathon finisher medals to relay people. I wonder if that was the issue.

If the organisers don’t get back to your two running buddies I’ll happily send one of them on my medal from the race. Collecting medals and T-shirts isn’t really my thing and much respect to those out there for 6 hours🙌😊

Facebook post up today that they have medals in and will be distributing them.

Got my T-shirt in the post today. They also sent me an apology letter and 35% off the entry to next years event.

Can't argue with that can you? 😊

I signed up for 2025. €54 in total with the super early bird discount and the 35% off code 🙃

Does anyone know what the system was for certificates for the 2023 Limerick marathon ? I did a good time and it possibly gets me a fast runner entry for Berlin. I’m not sure where I should be looking, I don’t think they post anything anyway ( I did get an actual posted cert once from Frankfurt marathon )

I'm thinking of entering, already completed the Full 4 times. Although I think I'm naturally more of a 5 or 10K 'type'. I do need a challenge for 2025....

My days of pushing for a pb over that distance are over, but maybe just an 'easy' run around and enjoy 🙂

Can a marathon, the closing stages of one, ever be easy do others think? 🙂

Not sure any marathon is easy but the closing stages can certainly be enjoyable. The ones I enjoyed most are when I took an easy pace and wasn't concerned about a finish time.

If I was doing this I think I would chose a more scenic marathon than Limerick. Connemara would be a good one

Yes go out hard chasing a time, even if you 'hang on', it's not a very enjoyable experience.

Whereas my most enjoyable marathon was Run Galway Bay, with no concern for time, I was actually able to make the last mile my fastest, still desperatly stíff but otherwise in good shape 🙂

No Limerick wouldn't compare with Connemara (never been) but the Riverbank is nice 🙂 and great atmosphere in the closing stages

The amount of training you do will dictate how easy the distance is in both a jog around and a full on time attack. For instance, high mileage runners or ultra runners can often get up to covering the marathon distance or more on training runs. They'd also be able to get closer to their PB while being comfortable than someone running low mileage.

If you run 20-30 miles a week, just covering the distance itself will be hard as you are trying to run a whole weeks mileage in one day, if you run 90 miles a week, 26 miles in one day will not nearly be as fatiguing. just to use examples.

I really had my most enjoyable one just there in DCM on Sunday, went easier on myself due to a falloff in training early Sept. It was great. Drank way more too. Never a hint of a wall at any stage.

    That sounds nice 'JMSE'.

High 5 is a pretty good 'gel' isn't it?, Certainly easy to tolerate..

How many would people here use? 🙂

And is it really pointless in the closing stages? (by that I mean they say they take about a half hour to go through the system and provide the benefit)
