After 8 months I'm finally getting the "descale me" 2-button flashes

What did you guys end up buying to descale the Sublime?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 430 ✭✭Dubwat

Yeah, the L'Or website is pretty poor and not well stocked with non-capsule products. I used https://www.kaffekapslen.ie a few months ago but I can't find a current listing at the moment.

The L'Or website now has https://www.lorespresso.com/en_ie/machine-support-hero-page/lor-barista-descaling

To descale your L'OR BARISTA coffee maker, you need Philips L'OR BARISTA CA6530 descaler, water and a bowl with a minimum capacity of 1.5 litres. Descaling your machine can take up to 40 minutes. Follow the instructions below on how to do this:

The Philips link takes you a different product on the Philips website though? Presumably it does the same job?

Apologies for the formatting. I have no control over it (a.k.a. I'm not going to spend 30 mins trying to figure it out).

Not a BA i know, but relevant to those who bought one of these...

My machine has started overflowing water in the capsule collector section after only a few capsules. It used to fill up the capsule collector with little liquid.

    Anyone else having same issue?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 911 ✭✭✭POBox19

No. Have you tried taking the front section out and cleaning the parts? Probably a few loose coffee grounds have opened the seal.

As in opening it up with a screwdriver?

    Prob invalidates the warranty tbh

Does it work ok without capsule or same?

I think you were trying to say to take out the nozzle and clean up on that area? The nozzle can be easily taken out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,404 ✭✭✭✭mrcheez

I always clean the nozzle. Problem is the used capsules container is filling up with water even when only a 3 or 4 have been used.

Anyway evidently this isn't a common fault and I've emailed them

What's people's go to own brand pods

I'm looking for small ones as got a lor (shot) glass with a set for Christmas

Then I'm looking for a big one, even if needs be use two for a bigger coffee in afternoon

I wanna try and settle as been getting so many different ones

    Cheers

Espresso Colombia for shots and Double Splendente for large ones.

I don't go for the large ones anymore as you need to empty the container more often...the Espresso Colombia is plenty strong for me and lovely chocolatey flavour

Guatemala is nice too, but was sold out last i checked

So I ran it without bucket and without capsule and interesting thing is that when you open up the lid again a ton of water splashes down.

Assuming this happens to no one else?

From the looks of it; there seems to be a blockage. That water should go straight to the nozzles.

I certainly hope you can get this sorted out.

On my end; I've had one issue so far; which was that between regular and double capsules; after a long while of using double capsules; I went for regular ones then; it did not pierce the capsule; then proceeded to check with my fingers where the lid is and it did a clicking sound; which seemed to re-adjust a spring or something; and now everything is back to normal; but it wouldn't surprise me that somehow some dirt/something had gotten the mechanism stuck a bit.

Yeah got a full refund...I've found if I leave the old used capsule in the lid rather than empty into the tray straight away it seems to stop this from happening.

Downside of course is that it won't stay as clean as it used to when I would normally run it without a capsule each time to clean it after

Is the current deal on the website still a decent bargain, or should I look elsewhere?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,404 ✭✭✭✭mrcheez

Maybe wait another few weeks for pre-Black Friday offers?

How much coffee does each of the three buttons push out, espresso, ristretro and lungo?

For an XXL (double shot) pod does the machine detect the bigger pod and double the water or are two manual button presses needed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 911 ✭✭✭POBox19

The machine detects the size of pod, the third button with a XXL pod fills a mug, or two smaller cups.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,019 ✭✭✭jeffk

Herself parents got me pods for Christmas and they came with a glass

I'm using the frank and honest green pods (was on offer a while ago in SuperValu) with some sugar free syrup (to replace sugar) and it fills it

Otherwise I'll use two pods to fill a cup (still cheaper than cafe)
