Warm tongue of Theta W and high Theta E readings moving over the SW into tomorrow and possibly the Western fringes, all associated with a trough and decaying front linked to the Lp centered well to the SW .

As the LP goes through its axis there are indications of decent LLS and DLS in abundance along with coastal convergence ( nice spot off the Dingle Peninsula) and afternoon heat with Dp's getting above the mid teens. Orographic lift over Cork and Kerry could possibly aid lift also firing off a few thunderstorms. A good chance of funnels too I would have thought.

K index good for the SW also. If they fire off could see a warning appear quickly, very hit and miss, one place could have very heavy localised rain from a thunderstorm and a few km's away bone dry.

Quite a bit of lightning way to our South this evening. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a rumble or two late tonight in or around Cork. The potential is huge

Very very humid out tonight in Waterford.

Some storms moving up the Irish Sea on Thursdsy and then late Friday afternoon more general storms possible in the midlands central belt of the country, I think any storms today and tomorrow will be very isolated although it has that feel about it the west this morning with the decaying front making it feel humid in the overcast conditions

Thunder potential looks like increasing between Thursday and Sunday, with several showers/storms moving North

Very active out to sea but most of it missed us today.

Looks like a few opportunities all right, maybe later Weds and into Thurs morning to keep an eye on but a good bit of it could be up along the Western and Eastern coasts out to sea but a bit of chance over land also it would seem.

Mostly just off the coasts the next 2 days then inland late Friday afternoon into Saturday has good potential also. Probably the last chance of convection this year

Will see if some storms brush off the coasts tonight into Thurs morning, best chance along the SE and E, might get a chance for coastal photography perhaps, some storms could move over land in the E early morning, will see the charts tonight. Friday shaping up to becoming active overland.

Quite a line of storms off the Toe of England at the moment, could be some action in the Wexford region.

Turned into a fair sized thunderstorm, currently well off North Mayo. Very high cloud tops .

Some small but heavy showers approaching the SE coast now. No sign of any sparks yet.

Energy and parameters there in abundance for thunderstorm formation today depending if the trough gets in over Ireland enough. Tons of MUCAPE available.Potential there for some lively storms if they fire up in an area that includes the E , Midlands, N Midlands and parts of Connaught, maybe a bit further N too. We will see .

Couple of cells have just popped up between Navan and Drogheda.

And it looks like some other cells popping up in Kildare and Leitrim as well:

Multiple strikes picked up south of Drogheda

Hazy cloud over the south of the country moving north but I think that will inhibit storms until it clears away,

Rumbles of thunder in North Drogheda now

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,097 ✭✭✭Kutebride
