Anyone know who the biggish ginger lad is that's always walking around with mcilroy, have seen him at a few tourneys now. Always wearing nike shirts too

Joanne Cantwell is painful, surely the worst Sports presenter on RTE.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,390 ✭✭✭UsBus

RTE should send cantwell back to the gaa. Absolutely clueless about golf. Would be no harm giving the gig to an up and coming presenter with an interest and knowledge of the game. Better than a jack of all trades

McIlroy so close to landing on the green on 7, but hits the rocks and back into the water. Similar to yesterday on the 16th.

Big last few holes for Shane

Big par save putt from Lowry on the par 3 14th from just off the green to stay at -12.

Rory has made another gigantic mistake. In the water again, this time on 11. That's the end of his challenge now. So disappointing.

Rory makes birdie on 13. He's on -11. Norrman is clubhouse leader on -14.

Thought Shane might have pushed on after 13 but kind of like his season. Just can’t seem to have that kick at the end when it’s needed.

Rory in the water again, kinda had to go for it though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,167 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

That's definitely the end of Rory's challenge. Into the water for the 3rd time today. His second on the par 5 16, you could see it didn't come off the club face in the right spot. Straight into the water. The first time in the water was off the rocks, the second rolled off the green and into the water.

She covered the golf a few years ago also, absolutely painful, 540,000 amateur golfers in Ireland , all of them pulling

their hair out watching this disastrous coverage.

Pity Shane Lowry's level par third round spoiled what was overall his best week by far in a long time. Hope he keeps it going in Wentworth.

Watched a fair bit of this yesterday due to the weather outside, some extremely poor shots played with pressure on from a number of the field, shocking stuff

the drooling over mcilroy on sky sports is nothing short of sickening

slow mo replays of him with every shot , talking rot as if hes tiger woods.

The man has grossly under achieved for years , simple as .

Other top class players not getting any coverage because of the horn for this lad.

The best player this island has ever produced being featured heavily in his home Opens' coverage. What a shock. 🤣

This isn’t about yesterday, this is an ongoing issue I have with Sky Sports also. It’s been mentioned quite a lot over the years on the McIlroy thread.

Every Sunday evening we get the McIlroy treatment. A few months back, I can’t remember the tournament off the top of my head, Mcilroy was 7 shots off the lead with 9 holes to play and Sky spent his entire background saying he needed to birdie his way home to have a chance of winning.

It’s the talking down of other players, for example Long yesterday, that grates on me the most. Talking as if McIlroy is some sort of mythical creature that everyone should be afraid of.

Mcilroy self identifies as British. Don't know why some Irish people try to claim him emulating the British press claiming successful Irish people as British.

Under achieved by his own standards , and sky sports , apparantly .

What do you mean by his own standards? He's 2nd in the world and about to win another order of merit. Can't win everything.

Probably find when Rory plays over here like Eldrick over on pga tour that viewing numbers go up which increases tv ad revenue. So sky will drool as much as they can to increase their numbers

Hi - I was wondering how much general admission tickets had cost for the Sunday at this year’s Open? Just curious ahead of the 2024 sale. TIA 👍

Don’t know if it was mentioned elsewhere in thread but the P&R was an absolute shambles this year. One car park with cars coming at it from 3 directions. 30-45 min queue to get in, same again to get on a bus and then when play was over the queue was all the way from the entrance back to the putting green (about 300m) and took another 45 mins to get on a bus. Been to a lot of tournaments and never seen the likes of it.
