I noticed that, ME saying ‘fair’ at the airport when its cloudy all day.

Seems like a decent day when compared with the dreadful July and August but at 20c standard stuff for the beginning of September.

Malin head briefly reached 20c at 3pm on Saturday. Back to 19c at 4pm. Hasn’t reached 20c since. It’s currently at 18 and the only main station below 20c. If you don’t like heat it’s the perfect spot most of the time.

    Overall not as sunny today

You were spot on early on Sunday with your hunch 27/28c would be reached this week when 25c was the max most were giving 😊

    Poor Malin Head!

Belmullet equalled its September record today of 25.4C from 21st September 1998, at least according to the obs. Slight chance it was beaten within an hour reading that only the Met have access to. See later or tomorrow. Records here go back to 1956.

One thing I love about nice 17c plus evenings is you can do gym and core work in the back garden and get fresh air into your lungs aswell. I have an old indoor bike I can plug in outside also and get the cardio in when knees are troublesome for running. Bliss 😍

WRF going for possibly fairly thundery conditions later in the week, of course this model tends to way overcook the potential but we shall see.

GEM going for 29C on Saturday.

Imagine if we had this exact spell of weather end of July with the heat dome in southern Europe to tap into and if the ground was much dryer. As is this is seriously impressive stuff for week 2 of September.

Be gas if 30c was reached.

26c promised for Sligo though we need clear sky. Today was 24c but only a few fleeting glimpses of sun despite plenty of blue sky the sun dodged this.

Sure it will probably be 25c in October this year its such a mad year. However after this weeks madness back to where we should be so a likely 8 or 9c drop.

Not sure my prediction of a record September would hold if we sustained into Atlanticdriven muck again but will have a good start once 28c or 29c later in week.....or 30!

Next weeks unsettled outlook is starting to wobble a bit again on the GFS at least so all to play for yet regarding next week. Looks very warm over the next 4 days with eastern areas possibly holding onto warmth until Monday. There is still the possibility that the warmth over the weekend could get extended into the early part of next week if we are lucky.

Fortunately slept well last night, took a bit of planning with shutting blinds early and opening windows when the sun went around and had 4 fans on the go for the evening getting air to circulate in the house.

Cleared up nicely as the day went on, feeling very warm in the afternoon getting just over 25C out in the countryside, felt very warm in town with work, the stiff breeze was as warm as you would ever get in Ireland I reckon.

Still warm this evening at 20.9C with a nice breeze going through the house.

If we had this in July our day temperatures would be 37c I'd say

Would be great to see some prolonged settled weather with low rainfall. Higher pressure but perhaps not as warm as this week with different sourced airmass, maybe high teens into the low 20's from the ECM, bit lower as the week goes on from the GFS . Would be a great spell easing into the Autumn.

Absolutely Meteorite. They'd still be average day time summer temps. No complaints with that😊

When I was younger a night without sleep wasn't a problem but I struggle through the work day if I don't get at least 6 hours. You planned well. In Laois I'd say our min was 15/16c so not so bad.

The same scenario of patterns proving difficult to shift may happen again. The May\June dry spell and the prolonged rain of July and August.

Best to enjoy each day as it comes. We've 4 days of the warm spell over, Sat, Sun, Mon and Tuesday. And at least Wed, Thur, Fri and Sat to come at worst. So only halfway through at worst 🙂

I’d say we’ll get Sunday and Monday out of it too especially in the east and south.

I'd be hopeful too. Generally the longer a spell holds out the shorter the breakdown if you get a reload I often find.

The GFS 18z extends the warmth in eastern and southern areas into Tuesday before cooler Atlantic air takes over on Wednesday.

Is this Friday pretty much nailed on to be a scorthcher? Thinking about taking the day off work for the beach

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,466 ✭✭✭pauldry

No day is nailed on but 26c to 29c latest forecast with "coolest" areas 22c

Could be cloudy with an odd shower but very warm to hot.

Yet another beautiful morning in Dublin with some lovely misty light. Felt a bit chilly even though it's still 12/13C, must be getting acclimatised to the warmth!

That arpege is nuts. Imagine 30C in September..

Belmullet September record confirmed by the way, it achieved 25.5C yesterday beating 25.4C in 1998.

As expected, a record-breaking September tropical night for Valentia was not to be. It dropped to 19.8C at 2200 UTC and minimum of 18.7C at 0600 UTC this morning. National Sep record remains 19.8C.

Still 36 consecutive hours over 20C there is nothing to be sniffed at!
