Couldn't recommend Ian highly enough as my son hurt his back playing hurling match .he put 3 vertebrae out of place and brought him to Ian and he had him back to normal after 2 sessions .definitely knows his stuff and will be using his services again

A single dislocated vertbra is a serious medical issue. 3 dislocated vertebrae would almost certainly require surgery.

You son didn't put his vertebrae out of place. The chiro lies and invented a problem that he would miraculous cure. Charlatan.

That's obvious not good, but that's also not the issue.

Somebody with a "proper qualification" in chiropractic is not a medical professional. But they masquerade as one. Ethics is a bit rich, ones of the least ethically professionals. Not saying they are all scammers, just like there are honest car salesmen and real estate agents - but as a whole, certain industries are built on deceit.

Well, it is kinda the issue. The chap mentioned could actually be a pipe fitter and there's nothing to stop him claiming he's what many people (mistakenly) believe is a medical practice. The two issues go hand in hand.

I honestly don’t see a lack of title protection is an issue here (like it would be for other professions). The issue is that the proper “qualified” chiropachy is largely snake oil - and some if it dangerous.

If there are people masquerading as fake chiros that’s a different matter. But I doubt anyone who hasn’t bought in fully to the scheme is working as a chiro

This is the issue with musculoskeletal health pros across the board. Massive variety of competency, irrespective of what name they're certified under. I've met physical therapists and chiros who are better at their job and more ethical than supposed gold standard of physio. You'll see the same with coaches who have degree and are still **** at their job. This is really a reflection of how poor the education standards are in health sciences.

The only thing that seperates the good MSK pros is that they actually genuinely care about doing a good job and educating themselves. The biggest red flags are the ones who use nothing but manual therapy, make people entirely reliant on seeing them regularly (€€€) and frame themselves as some kind of car mechanic for the human body.

Sure. There’s people who go down the path of bad training. And come out competent, ethical professionals. Or others perfectly studious, but not competent.

But opinions on entire disciplines should never be based on individuals, good or bad. They should be based on fundamentals.

If we’re talking course material/fundamental beliefs then I’d agree chiropractic is one of the worst, along with osteopaths, who are similarly obsessed with cracking things.
