2nd application is still floating in the atmosphere,

physical license arrived, I will say fair play the expiry date if from month of issue not month of application

just over the 2 month mark in my rifle application. No contact from them at all, only update I got was when I enquired a month ago. I'll have to ring and get an update it seems. Unfortunately I seem to have one of the less efficient districts….

There's a lot more of the inefficient ones than efficient ones unfortunately.

So my 2nd application has finally made it to the supers office. Been sitting one sergeants desk since March. All a bit of a joke, supers office has been beyond helpful. they chased up the application and kept me informed over the phone every few weeks

I'm just at the 14 week mark now. FO processed the application last week so very slow progress being made.

Member of the range for over 3 months and not a shot fired. Money well spent.

One week overdue for a renewal. In storage now.

Huge backlog in renewals being processed apparently. Lots of guns getting putting in for storage and/or scrapage with RFDs. People couldn't be bothered with the hassle anymore and are giving up the sport. Just what they want.

Apparently mine was sent to Wexford as Wicklow doesn't have a Chief. Bit of a joke

got a call, approval granted. Waiting on paperwork in post, so 7 months its becoming a joke in our area

With the amount of time it takes them to process an application, I can't say I'm surprised certs are lapsing before renewals are obtained.

I am over 16 weeks in now and my application still hasn't reached the supers desk.

Makes easy picking for honest hunters who have done paperwork and delays are in the processing side.

But law is the law and owner of firearm will loose out

THAT statement also applies to those who are supposed to issue the paperwork and make a descision within a specified by LAW, 90 days.

I wonder how long it will be before someone turns around and sues the AGS for not issueing a decision within the specified 90 days,or for deprivation of property because the paperwork for a new licsense or decision was not issued within the specified timeframe. OR the paperwork was in the AGS possesion and they didn't attend to it on time and used it for an excuse to confiscate?Thats why its vital to log the time and date you dropped it into your local station. So its up to them if it gathers dust in the IN tray for 6 months and they try some sort of stunt of unliscensed firearms.

Better still is that this whole mess is taken out of AGS hands and it becomes a centralised licensing body.At least "lost" paperwork will be lost in one place, not over multiple stations or peoples IN trays.

I hope whoever's guns those are that Wexford AGS have pictured here have something to say about how their property is being looked after in Garda custody,if they are reapplying for their lics in the meanwhile.UTTER DISGRACE!!!!

Agree on both comments, my last 2 examples are a disgraces 8months for new license and was the supers office who pushed hard for the paperwork to be processed and sent to them. Renewals are min 3 months if not more.

Lot of the issue in our area is no one is there doing it full time, its a job that got handed off after people retired and no one is replaced. what was being done in multiple stations now is done in one station with no full time person working on it

In a shocking buck to the trend, I submitted a pistol substitution six days ago. Licence arrived today.

I am doing the same next week and be few months before get the sub sorted.

Based on the time frames be curious see if a poll could be done and include location?

Say under 3 month (list locations)

Over 3 months, 4 months etc.

That's actually the goal of the linked Google form poll on the first page of this thread, you fill in the details and I can pull stats from it based on the data from each county.

When I get a bit of time I'll do a quick overview of counties by licencing time and post it here, but the more lads input the data the more accurate the results will be. 😉
