Anything's better than retail IMO and don't forget other benefits; flexi, mobility, various types of leave/career breaks, further study etc. plus if you pursue HEO after 2 years that'd be a much bigger pay bump. (but still same benefits!)

The best resources I've found so far for a break down of the payrises and current CS salaries are through Forsa and Siptu; (Forsa updates the salaries for all grades as they go) number 3 on the FAQ discusses the round increases up until 2026.

can you please clarify is the questions were all examples or give me a time when kind of questions? Or general direct questions?

The one that threw me was: Can you give an example of a decision you made without your manager. Otherwise they're based around your examples. Prep yourself on why you want the post because they did ask me that and while they wont ask on specialist knowledge directly, it still helps to say you identified learning needs within your role (ie my job has time limits so I did a course on time management/I need to take notes so I did a course on minute taking)

had a complete nightmare in interview. Went ok until last competency which was public service values - had an answer prepared around an example from within my office - it wasn’t asked in that way and was a curveball that I didn’t really think could be answered using STAR. Completely threw me and I ended up pausing and babbling before muttering some crap. 100% certain I’ve blown it, ah well.

does anyone know when the next round of executive officer recruitment is being held (2024 round)???

would anyone have an idea where the OOM is at currently, just been offered a new job outside of the civil service and I’m not gonna lie it’s massively tempting.

hi guys, I have my interview coming up and all competencies are ok apart from the public service values? Any ideas on some examples? Would really appreciate the help. Cheers

Any info on how clearance works? My vetting is back (received the disclosure email last week) but my references haven’t been contacted yet. Do they wait until they have an assigned role before contacting? Batch 8 open & OOM <20, the waiting to find out is a killer 🫠🫠🫠

Usually examples can be as simple as a colleague asked you to clock in and you refused as thats against civil service guidelines. Another one can be you stayed late to finish a project as it needed to be of the highest standard. The most used one is Covid. You adapted to new ways of working from home, talked with your manager online and ensured that the stakeholders weren't affected.

Folks, anyone know how long they give your employer to complete the reference? Like do they send the request and ask for it to be completed in 7 days or does anyone know?!

Does anyone know if there’s an email or phone number where I could get the OOM.

Anyone go through clearance for DoJ? And roughly how long it takes for the extra clearance? 🙈

  • Registered Users Posts: 38 EmbitterGlitter

I just got an extra form - completed straight away & returned. Then an email on message board to confirm I was assigned DoJ. Is there additional clearance? I’m open stream but no further info on DoJ unfortunately

@EmbitterGlitter just see the form I got earlier today to complete for extra clearance.. I’m guessing it’s for same dept??

  • Registered Users Posts: 38 EmbitterGlitter

@sayra23 it could possibly be. I think other depts might require extra clearance too (not sure but possibly revenue & DSP) - I got the email confirmation a couple of hours after I sent the completed form, so you should hear asap.

do you mind me asking what type of question they asked please?

I got this lady's webinar and found it a great help there is one coming up 21st of May. She also does one to one but it's expensive

    @EmbitterGlitter got assigned DoJ

  • Registered Users Posts: 13 CMH1967

Morning all, I too got an email last week in relation to additional clearance and sent it back straight away, I got an acknowledgement email back to say they had received the form but nothing else to indicate where I was being assigned.

@EmbitterGlitter I am curious when you say you got an email on message board to confirm you were assigned DOJ is this the Public Jobs platform you are talking about or is there another message board? I am in the open stream comp but am a serving CO not sure if this makes a difference.

  • Registered Users Posts: 48 HiggieL

Just curious did you receive this after the general clearance Garda vetting was completed?

@HiggielL I am currently working in the Civil Service so whilst I sent back the G.V. mine was current and they then sent me the additional security form nothing since I sent back a week ago 🙄
