8 wickets taken by two players who weren't in the team in the first two tests. I doubt we'll see Anderson again.

A really crucial 1 hour 25 minutes of cricket in this series…… if England can get to stumps 70/0 they’ll be satisfied… might be easier said then done, it’s swinging around corners.

The next hour will be telling one way or another.

Boland will be a threat in these conditions you'd imagine.

That was so poor from Duckett from a poor delivery from Cummins, all be it a great catch by Carey.

    What's par on this pitch?

Don’t know why Brook played at that. Wasn’t anywhere near hitting the stumps… didn’t try hit it for runs… blocking a delivery nowhere near the stumps.

Terrible performance with the bat after tea by Australia but Wood was very fast and very good. Good response so far by the Aussie bowlers.

350 maybe? They're saying it'll get better as the game goes on. But with a bitta rain and cloud about things could move fast...

Crawley with a duffer of a shot, a poke. Another down before stumps and trouble.

Say 263 was about par, there was a 155 stand in there in very quick time, this test is moving quickly, Sunday ticket holders might not have much to look at

Agree with you, gives nothing away, and moves the ball

If these two don’t put a meaningful partnership together it could be all she wrote for the innings…. Moeen Ali’s last half century was 9 tests ago. He’s doing nothing of any note with the bat… 1 half century in his last 18 test innings…. For a guy with a high score of 155* that’s not good… then comes the tail… which has less wag…less of everything..

English press waxing lyrical about Wood. It's a bit over the top. His economy was very good and he did well to dismiss the tail but Broad and Woakes arguably took the biggest wickets.

To be fair we have had our other bowlers bowing around the 80 mph mark all series and all of a sudden have someone in the mid 90’s taking 5 wickets. Khawaja has been very difficult to get out and the tail (Cummins and Lyon) won the first test so it’s good to have someone who can knock them over cheaply.

Yeah I agree , England's pace has been shocking , Wood bowled a 96.5 , that is very very quick

Why wasn't he playing on the 1st two tests?

Fitness issues, always had them unfortunately.

Wouldn’t be at all surprised if he didn’t play the next test.

    Only 80 overs yesterday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 627 ✭✭✭dohboy

Looks like the best day for batting weather wise. England need a good day here and get any sort of lead.

Given 13 wickets fell yesterday, I don't think there is any concern regarding slow over rates.

I think an interval of 3 minutes applies when a batter is dismissed, excluding the end of the innings. So this would allow for a delay of up to 36 minutes.

That’s a fair point about the wickets but one thing I’ve noticed is it takes an absolute age these days to complete a bowling change…watch today.

the now obligatory long conversation between captain and new bowler, moving of field etc… said bowler turning his arm over warming up, inspecting the run up, moving his mark at the start of the run up. Stokes is brutal for it.

there used to be a time in life where not everything you do had to involve a 5 minute conversation, cricket is an example… bowler was tossed the ball, extra slip ? Ok backward square leg to slip, ready ! Let’s go…. 🤷‍♂️

awful shot by Root….tucked up, decent delivery but wrong shot….

two balls in, wicket..England are fûcked.

Root gone second ball, big wicket!!

England innings going very much like the Aussie's yesterday, but England need a big partnership now.
