    great comeback by Milkman :)

just the one frame in it now; deficit just one frame, and he's in here early in frame 16 !!

    smashing split from blue :)

could be 'commentator's curse' for JP :) and Rob's only gone and missed relatively easy red :(

The commentator just said that they won't be allowed continue if they go beyond a certain time, and said it was bizarre considering the back-story to why they're playing now at all. I agree.

Although Perry might be glad of the chance of a break to regather his thoughts, he's slowly disintegrating here.

That was some brain fart by Milkins bringing the black into play, when 34 ahead with 35 remaining. And now he's in a snooker, gave away 4 points and a free ball. But Joe has put him back. And the $####¥ BBC have cut away to talk about $####¥ politics. 🤬

Why couldn't they put in on BBC4? It's at a crucial point in the match, 8-8.

Joe should have taken that free ball shot, because I see he's now lost the frame.

    9-8 now to Rob 😊

looks outta position early in this frame, does Rob - no luck; white in no-man's-land amongst reds, from yella he potted. goes safe in baulk

could be a decider - Perry well ahead here with four (awkward positions) reds left

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

snookers required now for Rob - Joe still at table

Rob concedes - last frame decider upcoming

    mon Rob !

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

Rob tippin away rapid down business end of table - leads 25pts to one; tough black upcoming - gets it !

    leads 32pts to uno :)

    mon Rob !!

This is for Milkins to lose now. The reds are well scattered, should be able to make a considerable break. He's on 25 already.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

Rob plays safe - 62 ahead with 6 reds left

Perry 'gives' Rob 5pts by hitting blue - wasn't even snookered on several of the reds. puts Joe back

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,238 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

End of break for Milkins, but he's 68-1 ahead. Perry made a poor foul, hitting the blue instead of a red.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

Joe gets cueball safish - more luck than judgement 😋

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

still 6 reds and safety exchange ongoing

one safe red close to cushion good news for Rob

    hon Rob!! great long red

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

Rob at table but it's game ova

    poor Joe

Nice bit by Eurosport about referee Olivier Marteel -

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Does Joe Perry do some snooker commentary or am I mixing him up with Dominic Dale?

pretty sure he does a bit for the beeb, g. definitely seen him in the studio in recent days. Joe been doing comms intermittently last 2/3 years i think, but nowhere near as prolific as DD

Fair play to Milkins to come from 7-2 down and win that. Perry had plenty of chances. Lunch time session will be delayed a bit while the new crowd comes in they mentioned.

That was some pressure black that Milkins got to go 32 points, really switched on. He deserves a few pints of cider after that,

Perry was on the bbc yesterday morning. An off day in between sessions of his match.

Murphy started this of course, and Mark Allen is fairly active on the bbc mid tournament as well.

Quite a different vibe to Steve Davis or Hendry, but the players say they know what they are doing.

Indeed, held his nerve well in that last frame. He'll play Murphy or Si next. How far has Rob got in the worlds?

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,312 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

I had a look at the chart on wikipedia

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Milkins

Second round was the furthest he got four times - last time was in the 2018 season (had not qualified again until now)- first time 2002 season on his crucible debut.

Seems like a really interesting character sort of a sleeping giant until that Welsh Open win. 47 years of age. Talent is obviously there has had two maximums in Worlds qualifying. 2006 World qualifying when he lost to Selby 10-4. The only second player who had a max in a world championship and lost. His other maximum was in worlds qualifying in the 2012.

Seems to have echoes of Stuart Bingham - plugging away for decades then it starting to click late on

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Of course they'll have people texting them for the crack too

Same way they do when people are live on air and their fones start buzzing

    good on ya Bazza 😊

Barry Hearn on about taking a Civil action against protestor/s to get money back for fans - he just mentioned the 'chap' tho; no mention of the slowcoach broad 😃

    #fairfooks 👍️

I've never really liked Barry Hearn.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,312 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

Bit of a Del Boy about him. Great for snooker in fairness, shook it up since he took charge - more tournaments etc.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Selt hanging on at 8-5 down v Selby. Blessed to get that last frame.

Luca did well to win that frame. Played some great shots including an early contender for shot of the Championship, after some horrible luck early on in it.
